The account login is what holds everything, so switching phones shouldn’t wipe anything. I hopped from a cheap Android to an iPhone and my old readings were still sitting there once I signed in. Took a minute for the app to pull them back down though.
I ended up using mine way more for moths and other night bugs around my porch light than for bats, but that meant I got pretty familiar with how it handles that weird half dark time. First few evenings I took it out right when the light was fading and honestly the picture looked kind of flat and grainy, like the sensor was working too hard. I kept fiddling with it because I wanted to see the little brown bats that live under my neighbor’s eaves, since they zip around over the driveway around the same time every night.
What surprised me was that it got noticeably better once things got properly dark. Not pitch black, just that point where you can still see the outline of trees but not much else. The bats showed up as dark shapes against the sky and I could follow them for a few seconds before they disappeared behind the house. Not crisp or anything, more like watching shadows, but it was enough for me to figure out there were at least three of them and roughly where they were hunting. Before that darker window it was hit or miss, sometimes I’d catch one and sometimes the screen just looked like static with a tree in it.
So for me it worked, just not right at the start of dusk. I usually wait another fifteen minutes or so now and it’s a better experience. The battery has held up fine through a couple weeks of this too if that matters to you.
Trees and a shed are going to eat into it some, that’s just how these things go. Mine still reaches across our lot with the fence and some brush in the way, so I doubt it drops dead the second something’s in the path.
Mine actually surprised me and worked from the hallway once, so it’s not strictly line of sight in my experience. It’s hit or miss depending on the angle though. I just point it toward the doorway and it usually catches.
I usually just do 10 minutes because that’s all my schedule allows, and my back still feels looser afterward. I never noticed a big jump between 10 and the full 15 honestly. Maybe it matters for some people but for me the shorter session does the job.
We had a similar thing happen with ours, but it was the opposite problem. The birds stayed away from the feeder for about a week and then came right back like nothing ever happened. Meanwhile the squirrels acted like I’d personally insulted them and cleared out completely. Still not sure what that says about the frequency settings.
I ended up moving ours to a different corner of the yard because it was also messing with our dog, who started giving the garden bed the side eye every time he went out. Once it was away from his usual path he relaxed. The birds never really seemed to care either way after that first week though. They just sit on the fence and watch it like it’s some kind of weird garden ornament.
So I’d say our experience lines up with the birds not being bothered. The cat situation improved a lot though, which was the main reason we got it in the first place. My neighbor’s orange tabby used to treat our flower bed like a personal litter box and that stopped within days. I never messed with the frequency dials because I honestly couldn’t tell much difference when I tried, so I just left it on whatever it came set to. Probably not the most scientific approach but it’s been fine.
We have a septic tank here too and I’ve used this stuff on and off for about a year, mostly when the tub starts draining slow. I never noticed anything weird with the tank afterward. No smells, no backup, nothing. The one thing I do is follow it with a lot of hot water because I figure the more water pushing through, the better it moves along to the tank instead of just sitting in the pipe. I haven’t had to call anyone out since we started using it either, so that’s a plus. I’m not a plumber and I don’t know the science behind it but from my actual experience it hasn’t caused any issues with our system. My husband was the paranoid one about it and even he’s stopped complaining about it now.
I wouldn’t get hung up on the adapter thing, mine went on the arm in my rental in about two minutes with just the tape that came in the box. Apartments usually have the same basic setup so I doubt you’d need anything extra. Returns are annoying but I don’t think you’ll be dealing with one here.
Without it you still get the clips and notifications, just no name popping up, which is honestly fine if you don’t mind looking them up yourself. I let the sub lapse for a couple months and the feeder still worked the same.
Mine actually worked better once I turned the ceiling fan off. The cool air stayed down near the bed instead of getting pushed around the whole room. Sounds backwards but that’s just what I noticed.
It does have a tiny bit of internal memory, but it’s really just enough to mess around with settings and maybe a test shot or two. I wouldn’t count on it for storing anything you actually want to keep. The viewing side of things works perfectly fine without a card though, which is what I mostly cared about.
I got used to it but honestly it depends on how much I actually want the mist. I noticed I stopped using it as much once the novelty wore off and now it’s mostly just a fan that I occasionally add water to. The refill thing isn’t really annoying to me anymore because I just do it when I refill my water bottle anyway.
I fly mine mostly when I’m out hiking and honestly the whole prep thing is kind of a non-issue for me. Once the battery’s charged, I can have it up in the air before I’ve even finished finding a good spot to stand.
I’ve had mine for a few months now and honestly never really noticed it being quieter until I misplaced it under a couch cushion. It was still easy enough to find, just took a second to register. Maybe the tone is just different enough that it throws you off at first.
Mine does the same thing every so often. I just treat it like one of those quirks you live with. Honestly I prefer the wireless convenience so much that I don’t mind the occasional manual reconnect, it takes like ten seconds.
I didn’t really test mine in any kind of scientific way, but I did have it tucked behind a pretty heavy console table for a while and never thought about it again. I figured if the sound was gonna get blocked, it would’ve been by that thing. I still noticed fewer spiders in that room after a few weeks, so I just assumed it was making its way around fine.
The way I see it, you’ve only been running it for a week. That’s still pretty early. I feel like these things need a bit more time to actually convince the pests to move along, especially if they’ve already made themselves at home behind your bookshelf. The sound doesn’t just stop at the first solid object it hits, it bounces around. A couch isn’t exactly a sealed wall.
I probably wouldn’t rearrange the whole room over it. If you really wanna know, you could just move it to a different outlet for a week and see if anything changes, but that feels like more work than just leaving it be. I’d give it another week or two before deciding it’s not doing anything.
I have a fairly basic Android, nothing fancy, and they connected like any other pair of earbuds I’ve owned. I didn’t have to fiddle with settings or anything like that, it just showed up in my Bluetooth list and paired normally.
I’ve actually used them more for regular music and calls than the translation stuff honestly. But the pairing part was never the issue for me. I’m not sure why some earbuds would be picky about Android anyway, that would drive me crazy. These just act like normal wireless earbuds on my end, which is all I really wanted.
Tall ceilings are one of those things that sound nice until you try to heat or cool the room lol. I have them in my place and my CoolCove does fine for the area right around it, but if I’m across the room I can definitely tell the difference. It’s not going to magically fill the whole space if it’s super open up there, so just keep your expectations realistic.
I think it kind of depends on what you call light. If the scratch is just sitting in the clear coat, it’ll definitely help make it less noticeable. Anything with any real depth to it, I wouldn’t bother. You’ll just end up buffing it and it’ll still be there.
I use strong mode pretty much every time now. I just don’t press the tip into my teeth like I’m scraping paint, I let the vibration do the work and keep it moving. My gums were a little pink the first couple days but they settled down once I got the hang of it.
I used mine with a bucket for a while and honestly the spray was fine for getting soap on and rinsing off. You do have to top the bucket up if you’re doing a bigger vehicle, but I never felt like I was running back and forth every two seconds.
