I actually don’t think daytime is where these shine. I’ve had a pair for a few months and the sun glare reduction is pretty mild compared to just wearing regular sunglasses. Where they really made a difference for me was evening driving when the sun is low and bouncing off the windshield. For bright midday roads I’d probably just grab normal polarized sunglasses instead.
I’m not really worried about the exact number since it connected fine in Malta and Gozo for me last month, and those aren’t exactly huge markets. It grabbed a local carrier on its own within a minute or two, no settings fiddling at all. I didn’t test it on some tiny island though.
Mine actually stayed put on a desk for a few weeks, but I ended up moving it because it was way too low to do much for the room. Sitting at that height it just kind of blew at my knees. Once I had it up higher it felt like a completely different unit, so I get why people mount it.
Mine did the same thing in my garage, and it wasn’t even that warm yet. I got maybe two and a half weeks before I couldn’t pick up the scent at all. I just started marking the date on mine so I stop guessing when to swap them.
I’d actually disagree with the idea that the screen can’t be involved. Not saying the ScryneX is bad, but I tried gaming on a friend’s similar fabric screen once and something felt off to me too, even though he swore it was fine. Could just be how our eyes adjust to the surface, but you’re not crazy for wondering.
I keep reading that the modes barely matter for two people, but I actually notice the opposite. When I switch out of quiet mode during a one on one, voices start sounding thin and I lose some of the warmth. Quiet mode is the only one that feels right for that.
I’ve only used mine on a desk so far and the remote works fine as long as it’s aimed at the front. What surprised me more is how quiet it is on low, my old little fan was way louder.
Maybe I’m the odd one out here but my experience with high ceilings has been a little different. We have a two story open foyer that connects to the living room and I honestly expected the WarmPro to be useless in there. It’s not heating the whole two story space obviously, that’s not what it does. But what surprised me is that it keeps the area around the couch noticeably comfortable even with all that air above. I think it’s because we keep it running for a few hours instead of just turning it on when we sit down. It’s not fighting the whole room, it’s just making that one zone feel okay. So if your setup is similar, meaning you mostly hang out in one spot, I’d say it’s still worth trying. If you’re expecting the whole room to feel warm from corner to corner though, that’s probably not happening.
I’m still on the fence about buying one of these, so the whole “can I add my own games” thing is something I’ve been trying to figure out too. What I’ve gathered from poking around is that it kind of depends on which version of the firmware you end up with, because the folder setup isn’t always the same across them. So someone might find it easy while someone else with a slightly different unit hits a wall. That part bugs me a little since you don’t really know what you’re getting until it’s in your hands. I don’t need to load a ton of stuff, just a handful of games I actually care about, but I’d rather know upfront whether that’s realistic before I commit. Curious whether the ones people bought recently have been consistent or if it’s a total toss up depending on the batch.
Oh wait, really? Mine doesn’t beep at all when it finishes. It just stops and goes quiet. I honestly didn’t even know it had a sound feature until I read this thread. Maybe I got a dud or maybe yours is just a newer version?
I’ve only used mine on a couple of synthetics so far, and honestly I didn’t notice it struggling, but those were the softer kind. The firmer ones do feel like they grab more, so I can see how it might slow down a bit. I just made sure to hold the base tight and it got through fine.
I actually got one before a trip to Spain last year and I was super on the fence about it for the same reason. Why carry a whole extra thing when my phone does the same stuff? But I hate fumbling with apps in the moment, especially when I’m trying to pay for something or the person is waiting on me.
For the short stuff, it was honestly fine. I used it mostly for like bakery orders and asking which bus to take, and the translations came through quick enough that the conversation didn’t feel awkward. It wasn’t perfect, like sometimes the voice sounded a bit robotic and I could tell the other person was trying not to laugh, but we got the point across. That’s all I really needed it to do.
The one thing I’ll say is that I wouldn’t rely on it for anything where you need nuance. Like if you’re trying to explain something a little complicated, it gets clunky fast. You have to keep it simple and talk in short sentences or it starts to mumble out nonsense. So if you’re just doing the basics, it’s a nice little backup. But if you think you’ll need it for real conversations, you might get frustrated.
For me, the carrying another device thing ended up being a non-issue because I just tossed it in my crossbody bag and forgot about it. I’d say if you find one at a decent price, it’s worth having for the peace of mind, but I wouldn’t pay a ton for it. My phone did most of the heavy lifting back at the hotel, the Enence was just for when I was out and about.
I actually had the same worry when I got mine, because I bought it on a whim and didn’t think about the storage thing until it showed up. I used it for a couple of weeks before I even remembered to grab a card from my old camera. For just walking around and looking at stuff, it doesn’t care at all. You turn it on, the screen lights up, and you can see whatever you’re pointing at. The menus work, the zoom works, everything works except the shutter button basically does nothing if there’s no card in it.
The only thing I noticed is that if you hit the photo or video button by accident, it just gives you some kind of error message or does nothing, which is fine. It doesn’t lock you out or make you sit through a setup screen or anything annoying like that. I remember thinking it would be one of those devices that nags you about the card every time, but it didn’t.
I do think it’s worth picking up a cheap card eventually though, because once you’re out in the dark and you see something cool, you’ll want to at least have the option to catch it. But no, you don’t need to rush out and buy one before you even get the device. You can absolutely test it out and take it on a few walks first to see if you even like the way it handles. That’s what I did, and honestly the card ended up being an afterthought.
I haven’t run mine long enough in cooling mode to notice much difference, but I’ve been close to pulling the trigger on buying one for a while now. Curious if a dehumidifier in the same room would fix it or if it’s just the nature of the unit.

I’m in a rental too and honestly the no-installation thing is the biggest win for me. I move mine between my bedroom and living room depending on where I’m hanging out, and it does fine for one room at a time. Just don’t expect it to cool the whole place down if you leave the door open all day.

That said, I do think the surface matters more with a scale like this one because it’s doing the full body scan with the handle and everything. If the base isn’t stable, the readings are probably going to be all over the place. My guess is the tile is your best bet just for consistency, but I wouldn’t drive myself crazy over it. Pick one spot and stick with it, then just watch the trend over a few weeks instead of stressing about each individual weigh-in.
I actually tried this last week because I kept seeing the same advice everywhere. Used fridge cold water in the morning and then tap water in the afternoon. Felt basically identical to me. Maybe if the room is super hot and you’re standing right in front of it, but I couldn’t tell any meaningful difference. I just use whatever comes out of the sink now.
Glad I asked because I was overthinking the whole thing. Seems like the general vibe is that it works fine for everyday stuff as long as you aren’t wearing super tight pants. I’ll probably just grab a pair of slightly looser jeans and call it good. Thanks everyone.
I’d say that sounds pretty normal for using the heat. I’ve had mine a bit longer and I’m in the same boat, every few days it needs a charge. No complaints here.
I just checked the product page and it looked like there’s a few sizes in there, small included. I wouldn’t stress too much about it.
