MemberI’m thinking of getting a Vanotium board but I’m not sure about the dishwasher thing. Some boards warp or get weird after a few cycles. Does anyone know if this one holds up? I usually just rinse my boards by hand, but it would be nice to have the option.

MemberI’ve run mine through the dishwasher a handful of times and it came out fine, no warping or weird peeling so far. I mostly hand wash it now just because it takes up a lot of room in there. The option is nice to have though.

Noah KentMemberI’m still deciding on one of these too, and the dishwasher thing is the part I keep going back and forth on. For me it would mostly be a backup option since I prefer hand washing my boards anyway, just feels like they last longer that way. Curious how it handles the heat over time though.

Tom in NYCMemberDishwasher safe usually just means it survives a cycle, not that it stays flat forever. Mine came out okay after a few washes, but the edges felt a little rougher afterward.

MemberI’ve always treated “dishwasher safe” on kitchen stuff as more of a “you can, but maybe don’t make a habit of it” label. The heat and the drying cycle are what usually mess with things over time, not really the water itself. So even if the board survives a few runs, doing it every single day is probably a different story than once in a while when something messy happens.
If the main reason you want the option is for those times you’ve had raw meat on it and just want it really clean, that makes sense. I’d probably still hand wash most days and save the dishwasher for when you actually feel like you need it. That way you’re not finding out the hard way how it holds up after a year of cycles. Whether it stays perfectly flat long term is the part nobody can really promise you.

MemberI just hand wash mine, takes ten seconds.

Nina WhiteMemberMine’s gone through plenty of cycles and it’s still flat.

MemberMine has been through the dishwasher way more than I expected, probably twice a week for the last few months, and it still sits flat on the counter. The only thing I’ve noticed is it comes out really hot, so I just let it cool before using it.

MemberI’ve had mine a few months and I do run it through the dishwasher sometimes, mostly when I’ve used it for raw chicken and want to be extra sure it’s clean. So far it’s been fine, still flat, no peeling or anything weird. That said, mine is a little smaller than my old wood board and I honestly think that helps it not warp as much since it’s not fighting gravity in the rack. The one thing I’ve noticed is it comes out really hot and takes a bit to cool down, so I just let it sit before using it again. I still hand wash it most days because it’s so easy, but it’s nice knowing I can toss it in when I’m lazy.

MemberI’ve got one of these and I’ve put it through the dishwasher a handful of times, mostly after cutting up a whole chicken or fish when I want to be sure it’s clean. The board itself came out fine and didn’t warp or do anything strange. What I noticed more was that the surface seemed to lose a bit of that slick, easy-rinse feel after a while. It still works fine, just needs a little more scrubbing than before. So for me the dishwasher option is there and it didn’t ruin the board, but I mostly rinse it by hand now since that keeps it feeling newer. If the question is whether it survives, mine did. Whether it stays exactly the same over years of cycles, I couldn’t say.

MemberMine survived the top rack fine but the coating started looking cloudy after a couple months of that. Hand washing keeps it looking new, so that’s what I do now.

Owen21MemberDishwasher safe usually just means it won’t fall apart immediately, not that it’ll stay nice. I ran mine through maybe six or seven times and it came out fine structurally, but the surface picked up a dull spot that never went away. Not worth it when a rinse takes seconds.

MemberI’ve never actually put mine in the dishwasher, mostly because it’s so easy to wipe down that it barely seems worth the risk. My sister has the same board though and hers has been fine, so take that for whatever it’s worth.

MemberDishwasher safe is a stretch in my book. Mine came out with a slight bend near one corner after a hot cycle, and it never sat totally flat again. Hand washing takes ten seconds anyway, so that’s what I do now.

MemberThanks, I’ll probably just hand wash then.
