Mine points a little high too, but I actually like it that way now. It catches the birds coming in from above before they land, which makes for some fun clips. Adjusting it felt like more trouble than it was worth.
For me the one that actually works offline is the plain wall switch. Not fancy, but it never cares what the router is doing. My smart bulbs are the ones that annoy me because if the internet is down, the switch on the wall can cut power but I can’t dim anything or change the color until it’s back. Like the bulbs go on strike and just glare at me in whatever shade they were left in. Everything else I just leave alone until things reconnect. I did notice the app sometimes takes a minute to catch up even after the internet comes back, so I usually flip a switch the old way first and check the app later. Not a big setup, just how it’s been for me.
Mine doesn’t do that at all, so I don’t think it’s just something you have to live with. I sit at a desk most of the day and mine stays comfortable the whole time. Maybe the fit is just off or it’s not the right size for you.
I don’t really buy the idea that it has to be on all the time to do anything. The way it was explained to me, it’s just sitting there smoothing out what’s coming through the outlet while it’s plugged in, so if it’s only on at night then it’s only doing that at night. Seems kind of obvious when you think about it that way.
For me the bigger thing would be placement. I had one in a bedroom outlet for a while and barely noticed anything, then moved it to the outlet near the kitchen where most of our stuff actually runs and that felt like a better spot. So I’d worry less about the hours and more about where it’s sitting. Running it a few hours a night isn’t going to hurt anything, but it’s probably not doing much either if it’s not near anything drawing power.
Mine actually did better than I expected in my home office, which is pretty small. I run it for maybe 30 minutes before I start working and the room goes from uncomfortable to totally fine. It’s not blasting hot air like a space heater, more like a gentle warmth that builds up. The catch for me was that it only really works if I keep the door shut the whole time. First week I had it I kept leaving the door open out of habit and wondered why it felt useless. Once I started closing it, big difference. So for a bedroom I’d say yeah, it can take the chill off, but you have to treat the room like a closed box. If people are walking in and out constantly it won’t keep up.
If the app store listing says it needs a newer Android than what you’re running, that’s pretty much the end of it. Older phones can be hit or miss depending on the exact version. I’d check that before buying anything.
I just wipe mine with an oily rag every few weeks and that’s been enough. The plastic bin thing never made sense to me since it traps whatever moisture is already in there. A quick pass with a rag takes like a minute and my pliers have stayed fine for a couple years now.
Stage labels from a wrist tracker are mostly for entertainment in my book. I had a stretch where mine kept saying I slept great on nights I woke up feeling wrecked, so I quit trusting the deep sleep numbers entirely. The strap stuff is a whole different level of commitment though.
I think the noise thing depends a lot on what kind of sleeper you are, not just how quiet the unit is. My partner needs complete silence and any fan noise keeps them up, but I actually sleep better with something running. So the CoolCove being “whisper quiet” wouldn’t really matter for them either way. For me, I’d rather have a steady low sound than a dead silent room. I don’t have this exact unit but I’ve tried similar ones and the low setting is usually fine for me while the higher settings get annoying fast. If you’re a super light sleeper who needs total silence, that’s probably the bigger issue here. Otherwise a soft hum on low might not bother you at all.
The lag thing gets overstated. I’ve used both and the Flixy remote isn’t any worse for flipping through apps. People just get attached to whatever they’re used to.
The brush just pushes crumbs around for me. I still use the slim nozzle on cushions because it actually pulls stuff out of the fabric instead of scattering it.
I noticed the smell mostly at the very start of a shower, like that first blast before it settles. Got the Glokore mainly because I hated that morning pool whiff, and it did help with that initial hit. The water still smells faintly if I really try to sniff for it, but the strong chlorine punch at the beginning is gone. What surprised me more was the shower head itself. The old one had this crusty white buildup around the holes and the spray was getting uneven. After swapping I noticed way less of that gunk collecting, which I did not expect to care about. So for me it is less about the water being perfectly smell free and more that the whole shower experience feels a bit fresher overall. Not a dramatic change, just a small everyday improvement.
Wall adapters are definitely better for this thing, in my experience. I used to just plug mine into whatever USB port was around, including my car, and the battery never really got a full charge that way. It would run for maybe two hours instead of the longer stretch I get at home. Once I switched to a regular wall plug, the difference was obvious. Car ports just don’t push enough for a proper charge on this. Mine also got weirdly warm when I charged it in the car, which I didn’t love. So yeah, I’d say use the wall adapter when you can and save the car port for emergencies.
Mine didn’t need a full charge first. I plugged it in for like 20 minutes and tossed it in the fridge, worked fine. The initial charge does take a few hours if you want it completely full though.
I don’t wear glasses either and I just treated mine like regular sunglasses. The over-glasses thing is just an option, not a requirement. Mine look a little chunky but nobody’s ever noticed.
Mine came with a few different mounting washers in the box, and one of them lined up with the bump head threads on my old Ryobi. Took a couple minutes to swap over. Whether it fits yours really depends on the shaft thread size though.
I’ve only used mine in one open area, and it covers that fine. Once furniture is in the way it’s a different story though, so I’d probably grab a second one if you have separate rooms.
I went the opposite direction and moved mine off the desk entirely after about a week. Not because it was crowding things, more that I kept bumping the water tank with my mouse hand when reaching across. That got old fast.
So now it lives on a little side table to my left and honestly I like it better there. The airflow still reaches me fine and I stopped knocking into it. The desk next to the monitor would have worked if my setup was a bit wider, it’s genuinely a small unit, but my particular desk just has no spare real estate.
The one thing I’d say is think about which side you reach across most. Mine ended up on the wrong side at first and refilling it meant leaning over the keyboard every time. Swapping it to the other side fixed that completely.
No idea if the monitor thing is even a real concern. Nothing happened to my screen either way, and I never noticed any moisture or anything weird on it. That part seems like a non issue to me. The space thing is more about your own habits than the device needing room to breathe.
Mine actually did take about 5 minutes to take the edge off my bedroom, so I don’t think that number is total nonsense. It wasn’t toasty in there or anything, but the chill was gone by the time I got into bed.
I keep mine in the kitchen drawer since that’s where most choking stuff happens anyway. Never actually needed it yet, which I guess is a good thing. My main concern was whether I could work it solo, and just practicing the motion on myself felt doable.
I don’t think frequency matters as much as people make it out to. I only shower at night and I still noticed a difference in how my skin felt, mostly less itchy after. So yeah, it can still do something even if you’re not in there twice a day.
I actually got decent results on a few light scratches with it, but they came back after a couple months. So it’s not purely a wash-off filler in my case, just not permanent either. If you want something you do once and forget about, compound is still the better bet.
I mostly just leave mine alone and deal with it. The delay bugs me for a day and then I forget about it. If it really got on my nerves I’d swap back to the Roku for that TV.
