MemberThinking about getting a CoolJet but my desk is already pretty cramped. Does it need a lot of space around it to work right? I don’t want it blowing directly on my screen or anything. Just curious if it’s small enough to sit next to a monitor without being in the way.

Linda RobinsonMemberMine sits right beside my monitor and it hasn’t been an issue. It’s small enough that it doesn’t crowd the desk, and I just angle the vent away from the screen. Only thing is you still need a USB-C cable running to it, so that’s the real clutter.

MemberBlowing on the screen isn’t really a thing with these tiny personal coolers, the airflow is way too soft to cause any issues there. Mine basically just chills the air right around my face and shoulders and that’s about it. Desk space wise you’ll be fine.

EliMemberI shoved mine between my keyboard and a speaker, so it’s basically touching stuff on both sides and it still runs fine. It doesn’t really need clearance like a real fan would. You’ll probably end up moving it around more than you expect anyway.

TommyWiresMemberMine actually ended up too close to my mic arm and the water tank got annoying to refill without moving stuff around. So it fits next to a monitor, but if your desk is already cramped you’ll feel it at refill time.

MemberI went the opposite direction and moved mine off the desk entirely after about a week. Not because it was crowding things, more that I kept bumping the water tank with my mouse hand when reaching across. That got old fast.
So now it lives on a little side table to my left and honestly I like it better there. The airflow still reaches me fine and I stopped knocking into it. The desk next to the monitor would have worked if my setup was a bit wider, it’s genuinely a small unit, but my particular desk just has no spare real estate.
The one thing I’d say is think about which side you reach across most. Mine ended up on the wrong side at first and refilling it meant leaning over the keyboard every time. Swapping it to the other side fixed that completely.
No idea if the monitor thing is even a real concern. Nothing happened to my screen either way, and I never noticed any moisture or anything weird on it. That part seems like a non issue to me. The space thing is more about your own habits than the device needing room to breathe.

Lisa HydrowMemberMine is not small enough to just squeeze in beside a monitor without noticing it, so I actually disagree with the idea that these things disappear on a desk. I have a pretty standard setup and the CoolJet took up more room than I expected once I had the cable running to it and the tank filled. It works great and I do like it, but I ended up giving it its own little corner instead of tucking it right next to the screen. If your desk is already cramped you will probably feel it there, even if it does not need a ton of open space around it to run. I still use mine daily, it just was not the invisible little thing I pictured.

MemberNot small enough in my opinion. I tried keeping mine beside a monitor and it ate up more desk room than I expected, partly because of the cord and the tank sticking out. If your desk is already cramped, this is going to make it worse, not better.

MemberMine sits right beside my second monitor and it’s been totally fine there. It’s small enough that it doesn’t crowd my mouse space, which was my main worry. The only thing I’d say is the cord is what takes up the annoying room, not the unit itself.

MemberMine actually lives on a little side table pulled up next to my desk rather than on the desk itself, mostly because I got tired of moving it every time I needed to refill the tank. That setup has worked way better for me than squeezing it in next to the monitor. Still gets me plenty of cool air from there too.

MemberI have mine angled slightly away from the screen and it hasn’t caused any glare issues. It does take up a bit of room though, so if your desk is already tight you’ll definitely notice it there.

MemberMine sits about a foot away from my monitor and I haven’t had any screen glare issues at all. The airflow is pretty directed so it mostly hits me and not the screen. It does take up a bit of space on the right side though, so I moved my keyboard over a little.

emily_rParticipantMine stays on a side shelf, not the desk.

MemberAlright, think I’ll just grab one and figure out placement later.
