I actually wouldn’t bother with them for client calls. My coworker tried something similar and the back and forth just gets awkward when you’re already nervous about the language. For Spanish I’d rather muddle through on my own, clients usually appreciate the effort anyway.
Mine seemed to take longer to settle in than the 150 miles they mention, probably because my commute is mostly short trips with a lot of waiting at lights. I think the stop and go stuff actually gives it more to work with in a way, since it’s seeing how you handle creeping along and light throttle. I noticed the smoother feel more in traffic than on the highway honestly. Hard to say if the mpg gain is as big there though, since that kind of driving is just thirsty no matter what. But it didn’t seem confused or anything, it just kept doing its thing. Curious if anyone else noticed the difference between highway and city driving with it.
The magnet actually holds better on vertical painted surfaces than I expected, weirdly enough. Mine sat on the side of a dresser once and stayed put for a few nights, no sliding. But what got me was a horizontal spot, I had it on top of a mini fridge thinking that was safe and it slowly crept toward the edge over a couple days. Something about the vibration from the fridge maybe. So I just avoid putting it anywhere that hums now, and I haven’t had a drop since. Adhesive still seems like overkill unless you’re leaving it somewhere for weeks. For a night or two the magnet has been fine for me.
Mine gets warmer than I expected on the top setting, almost too warm on my neck if I leave it in one spot. I don’t think it’s a gimmick at all, but it’s more of a gentle steady heat than anything strong.
I went the opposite direction last summer and swapped my combo gadget back to a plain old lantern plus a separate little fan, mostly because of how the light actually felt in the tent. The combo one I had sounded great on paper, light and repellent in one thing, but reading by it got old fast. It threw this narrow beam that was fine pointed at a book but the rest of the tent stayed dim, so I was constantly tilting the thing to get the page lit right. My cheap lantern just fills the whole space evenly and I never think about it.
The repellent side, I honestly stopped counting on it after the second trip. First night it seemed okay, second night the bugs came right back in through the door anyway, which kind of told me what I needed to know. I still brought a candle after that. Not saying the MozzDefense is bad, I never tried that exact one, but the whole two in one idea lost its shine for me once I noticed I was babysitting the light more than enjoying the trip.
So I’d say if reading comfortably is the main thing, your old lantern is probably still doing more for you than you realize. The switching cost might not be worth it unless you really hate carrying two items.
I always just get up and use the buttons on the unit if I’m more than a few feet away. The remote is nice when I’m on the couch but I never count on it working from other rooms. So if it were me I’d just walk over.
The timer thing is overblown. I sprayed mine on a rear bumper scuff, got pulled away for maybe ten minutes, and it wiped off fine with no extra effort. If anything the longer wait made the buffing easier because nothing was still wet enough to just smear around.
I kind of like the darker shadows, gives the footage a moodier look when I’m riding through shaded trails. I don’t mess with settings at all for that. If I wanted perfectly even lighting I’d just shoot in the morning or evening instead of midday.
I’ve had mine since spring and the pressure difference over a hose nozzle is real, especially on caked on stuff. I don’t even bother with the bucket half the time now, just soak, spray, wipe. It’s not going to strip paint or anything but it definitely cuts down the scrubbing.
I think it really depends on where you live and how crazy your temps get. I’d be less worried about the device itself and more about the masks getting stiff or misshapen over time. Gloveboxes get surprisingly hot in the summer even on mild days. Maybe keep it in a pouch or something if you do go that route.
For me it cut it down enough that I stopped noticing it mid-shower, but the first blast of water still had that pool-water edge when I first turned it on. I’d say it’s more of a strong reduction than a full removal. If your water is really heavy on the chlorine, you’ll probably still catch whiffs of it, just not the whole time.
I actually think people are overestimating what their TV does on its own with older games. I have a fairly nice TV and when I plugged other retro stuff into it directly, the picture came out looking way softer and almost smeared, like the TV was trying too hard to clean it up. The BitBip at least sends a signal that the TV doesn’t fight as much, so the pixels stay looking crisp instead of turning into a blurry mess.
That alone made it worth it for me. I wasn’t expecting anywhere near real 4K quality, but the image does look noticeably sharper than just plugging an old console into the same port. It’s not going to turn a 16 bit game into something that looks modern, but it also doesn’t look like someone smeared Vaseline on the screen. For the price, I think that’s a fair trade.
Honestly I think it depends on what you’re comparing it to. If your current nozzle has a jet setting, the difference isn’t night and day. But if you’re just using a regular spray pattern, yeah, it’s way more concentrated. I wouldn’t expect pressure washer magic though.
I didn’t track mine at first either, but I ended up just making it part of my showerhead cleaning routine. Every time I deep clean the bathroom, I give the cartridge a quick look and if it’s looking discolored or like it’s seen better days, I swap it. For me that’s been landing around every 4ish months, but I’m on municipal water that’s not crazy harsh.
I will say, the water pressure kinda changes slightly when it’s getting close to done, or at least I notice the flow feeling a bit different. Not dramatically, but enough that it’s a nice little heads up. I’d rather change it a little early than let it go too long, mostly because I have no clue what the water actually looks like without it. 😅
I usually don’t even think about it, I just grab it once I’m done eating and the grill has had a few minutes to chill. Not like right off the flames hot, but definitely still warm. That’s kinda the whole point for me, the gunk is still soft enough that it doesn’t take forever.
I did try it once when the grates were really hot, like right after I pulled the food off, and it felt wrong. Nothing broke or melted, but I could tell it was just pushing the grease around instead of actually picking it up. So now I just wait until I can hold my hand over the grates without it being unbearable, if that makes sense.
I think as long as you’re not using it on a screaming hot grill, it’s fine. The brush head seems sturdy enough for warm grates. I definitely wouldn’t stress about it too much.
At first I thought something was wrong with mine too, but honestly now I kind of prefer the short beeps. It gives me a second to look at the screen and see what’s actually going on before the loud alarm starts. With my old detector, it was just instant chaos and I’d be running around the house trying to figure out what set it off. At least with this one, those few short beeps are enough for me to check if it’s a real issue or if I accidentally burned some toast and it’s just being dramatic about the smoke.
The loud alarm does still kick in though, so it’s not like you’re going to miss it. I’ve had mine for a couple months now and I’ve gotten used to the pattern. My old one was definitely louder and more jarring, but I think the tradeoff is worth it since this one actually tells me what it’s detecting. My old one just screamed and I had to guess if it was CO or smoke or whatever.
I wouldn’t say yours is weird or defective. It’s just a different style of alerting you. Once you’ve had it for a bit, you’ll probably stop noticing the difference. I know I did.
I put mine near the foot of the bed on the floor and it warms the whole room pretty evenly. The cord from my outlet reaches without any weird stretching. I didn’t pay much attention to clearance honestly, just kept it a few inches from the bed frame and it’s been fine.
I’d have to disagree with the folks saying it’s a dealbreaker for small mouths. I’ve got a pretty narrow jaw and I was expecting the worst, but the flexibility of it surprised me. It’s not like you forget you’re wearing it, but it didn’t feel like a hunk of plastic jammed in there either. I’ve worn it for the full session a few times now without needing to take it out early.
I hung mine up with just a couple of command hooks and it’s been fine for the few times I’ve used it. There’s a tiny bit of wave near the bottom edge but honestly you only notice it if the screen is totally white. Once a movie is playing I forget it’s even there.
I’m someone who prefers using it with a bucket just because it feels less hassle than dragging a hose around. I’ve done it plenty of times for a quick bike rinse and some patio spot cleaning and it never gave me trouble. You do have to keep an eye on the water level, but that’s about it.
I got one for pretty much the same reason, no way I was drilling into my walls lol. It’s fine for my tiny bedroom, but it is the kind of thing you’re better off sitting close to. The heating side is what actually surprised me though.
The case thing is a total non-issue, honestly. I don’t use one either and mine has been sitting loose in my crossbody bag for months now. It pings off other people’s phones all the time when I’m out, which is the whole reason I got it in the first place. I only really need my own phone when I’m the one actively looking for it, and even then it just uses Bluetooth to find it nearby.
I’ve had it drop off the map a couple of times in weird spots, like underground parking garages, but that’s just how Find My works with anything. It’s not like it needs a direct line to your iPhone or anything. As long as there are other Apple devices somewhere around, you’re good. I wouldn’t overthink the case part, just toss it in your bag and forget about it.
I think it does soften a bit but nowhere near dramatic. Mine took about three weeks before the morning tightness went away. Now it just feels normal, not loose. If it’s still uncomfortable after a month I would probably remold it instead of waiting for more give.
