They cut the sun glare for me, that part is real. I’ve been using mine on my morning drive for a few months and the difference on bright pavement is obvious. Worth the money if sun in your eyes is the actual problem.
My mother in law is 79 and she tried one of these at my sister in law’s house last Christmas. She handed it back after about two minutes. Her issue wasn’t grip strength or squeezing, it was that she couldn’t see where the thing was actually cutting. With regular clippers she can feel the blade against the nail and know she’s in the right spot. The electric one just kind of hums along and she had no idea if it was doing anything until she looked. So for her it was less about steadiness and more about not being able to tell what’s happening. That said her nails are pretty normal too, so it wasn’t a thickness problem. I think people assume shaky hands is the only thing that matters for older folks but eyesight and just trusting the tool count for a lot too.
Left or right handed isn’t the issue. I’ve had mine since spring and the thing that actually matters is how worn your chain is before you start. First couple times I used it on a chain that was pretty far gone and it felt clumsy and grabbed at everything, figured the tool was just awkward. Then I ran it on a newer chain that only needed a light touch up and it was a completely different experience, smooth and easy. So if your chain is really dull, the tool is fighting you no matter which hand you use. Sharpen it more often instead of waiting until it’s chewing through wood and it stops feeling like a wrestling match. That was my takeaway anyway. Not saying the lefty thing is imaginary but I don’t think it’s the main problem most people are actually hitting.
That ring isn’t necessarily permanent, but glass cleaner alone usually won’t touch it. Mine did the same thing after about eight months on a rear window. The issue is the rubber edge of the cup off-gasses and leaves a residue that bonds to the glass surface, so wiping it just smears it around. What got mine off was a plastic razor blade and some isopropyl alcohol, working at it gently. Took maybe five minutes of patient scraping. No scratches, and the ring was gone.
But here’s the thing nobody mentions. If the glass has any kind of aftermarket tint film on the inside, you’re in a different situation entirely. The residue can actually stain the film itself and that does not come out. I learned that the hard way on a previous car and had to live with a permanent circle right in my line of sight. So if the new car has tint, think twice before sticking anything to it.
Also worth considering: how hot does the new car get sitting outside? The mount itself holds fine, that was never my problem. It’s the rubber degrading over time in the heat that causes the marking in the first place. A car that sits in a garage most of the time will probably be fine. One that bakes in a parking lot every day, less so. I do not have a magic fix for that beyond just accepting it or going with a different mounting method entirely. Dash cams and clean glass just do not really coexist long term in my experience.
Thickness is what I’d actually be annoyed about. Signal stuff gets way overblown on these tracking cards, but people act like 2mm is nothing. Stack that on top of a wallet that’s already tight and suddenly you’re fighting to get your cards out every time. I had a similar slim tracker in a card wallet and pulled it after two weeks because closing the thing became a chore. It wasn’t the tracker’s fault, it was just one more layer in a spot that had zero room left. So if your wallet is already bulging now, adding anything is going to make that worse, no way around it. The tech part is fine. The physics part is the problem. Nobody online mentions that part because they’re too busy testing whether the ringer still goes off through a stack of cards. Yeah it does. Getting the wallet shut comfortably is the actual issue.
Mine did not just screw on like I expected. I have a normal looking arm in my bathroom, nothing fancy, and when I tried to put the Glokore on it only went about half a turn before it got tight and started leaking from the connection. I figured I was just being soft with it so I gave it a little more and water still sprayed out the side. Took it off and the threads on the plastic inlet looked kind of chewed up already. Not great.
I ended up going to the hardware store and grabbing a cheap brass adapter and some extra tape, and that fixed it. So no, it did not go straight on for me without extra parts. The included tape was basically useless in my case, it was thin and I had to redo it twice.
I know people say it fits standard arms but standard clearly has some wiggle room. If your arm is older or has any paint or buildup on the threads, I would not count on a clean fit out of the box. I kept mine because I did not want to deal with shipping it back, but I was annoyed I had to make a second trip for a two dollar part just to get a showerhead working. So if you are trying to avoid returns, maybe just check your threads first and have an adapter ready.
The backup battery keeps the sensors alive, that part is right. But mine died after maybe 18 months and just started beeping at me until I swapped in a fresh 9V. So dont assume it will ride through every outage forever. The screen cuts off fast on battery, so check the battery status once in a while when the power is on.
Everyone keeps saying the same thing about folders and file structure, so that part is probably fine. My concern would be whether the emulators actually run the ROMs decently or if half of them are just there to look good on the spec sheet. I’d want to know what people are actually playing on it, not just that files can be added.
I’m not convinced these things do much when everything is crammed together. I had one and still got my contactless card read through my wallet at a crowded terminal. Maybe it helps in a perfect setup, but real life isn’t that neat.
Two people within a couple kilos is basically the same number to this thing. The auto-recognition is a gimmick in that scenario, it just guesses based on which profile is closest. I would not trust it to keep your data separate.
My cat’s the reason I bought one too, but I stopped trusting the live view for real-time stuff. The app adds its own little buffer on top of whatever your wifi is doing. I’ve seen it show movement a solid second or two after it actually happened, which is fine for checking if the cat’s alive, not so great if you want to watch anything live.
Alright, sounds like the consensus is it’s not that picky. Good enough for me. Probably just gonna set it up near the back fence and see what happens.
The whole “when does it stop working” thing is probably overthinking it. If it’s still taking scratches off, it’s working. Once it stops doing that, it’s done. I wouldn’t stress about some magic expiration date. You’ll notice when it’s not pulling its weight anymore.
Remote range has never really bothered me honestly. I just point it at the unit and it works. Maybe I’m not far enough away to notice, but this seems like one of those things that gets blown out of proportion.
The manual says to plug it into an outlet but doesn’t really get into the whole height debate. I just stuck mine in the closest socket and it’s been fine. People overthink this stuff. If the sensors were that picky about elevation, they’d make you install it on the ceiling like a smoke detector.
Different animals, honestly. Spray’s gone in an hour and you’re back to square one. Pouch just sits there doing its thing. I wouldn’t say it’s magic, but I don’t have to think about it, which is basically all I wanted. It’s fine for the price.
Jeans are thick, so I wouldnt expect miracles. But if your main goal is getting them dry overnight instead of having them stiffen up on a rack, this will do the job. Just dont stand there watching it.
I’d check the pitch on your chain first. The Klampero fit fine on my little saw, but I’ve got a pretty common 3/8 low profile setup. Could be hit or miss if yours is way off from that.
I used it a few times and honestly I wasn’t really paying attention to the water beading part. The shine looked fine but I wouldn’t count on the hydrophobic stuff sticking around for long. Most of these sprays are just good for a quick visual fix and then you forget about it.
