I’m in the same boat, my TV is basically against an interior wall with no window anywhere close. I picked one up anyway and got the major networks fine after messing with placement for a bit. It’s finicky but not useless. If you can return it easily, I’d say just try it and see what your scan picks up.
Mine does the exact same thing, so I’d say it’s normal. I’ve had mine for about two months and the window has looked hazy almost the whole time. It’s not a huge deal since the water line is still visible, but I remember thinking the same thing when I first noticed it.
What I figured out is that it’s just moisture sitting on the inside of the plastic. The air inside the tank is obviously wet and the window is a different temperature, so it fogs up like a cold drink glass. I tried wiping it from the outside and that obviously didn’t change anything. I’ve just accepted it.
I do wonder if it’ll get worse over time or if there’s a way to clean the inside of the window without taking the whole thing apart. But honestly, for what it is, I can still tell when I need to refill it and that’s what really matters to me.
I actually ended up returning mine, so take that for what it’s worth. I tried the twice a week thing for about six weeks and I just couldn’t see enough of a difference to justify the price. My skin felt slightly softer right after using it, but that wore off by the next day and nothing really built up over time. I know some people swear by the slow approach, but for me it felt like I was just going through the motions without getting anywhere. If you’re the type who can stick to a routine, maybe it works, but I’m not convinced it does much when you’re only half committed to it. I’d rather wait until I know I can actually do the three times a week thing than spend the money on something that just sits in a drawer.
I’ve never had that problem with mine. I’ve run it in cooling mode for hours in a small room and the air stayed dry, maybe even a bit too dry. Could just be your unit or the humidity outside.
I had the same concern when I got mine, mostly because my dash has that soft-touch rubbery texture with a bit of grain to it. I was fully expecting to move it to the windshield after a day, but honestly I haven’t had to. It’s been about three weeks now and it’s still holding firm, even with the car sitting in the sun while I’m at work. I do make sure to press it on really well when I first put it up, and I clean the surface with a damp cloth before sticking it. I think that makes a difference. The one thing I’d say is that I don’t mess with it much, so it just sits there and records. If you’re someone who likes to take the camera in and out every day, that might be where it gets tricky, but for a set-it-and-forget-it setup it’s been fine for me.
I think it comes down to how heavy your hand is. Strong mode is definitely more intense, but I wouldn’t call it a once-in-a-while thing. I use it most days now, but I keep the tip angled and don’t push it into my teeth like I’m chiseling something. The vibration does the work, not the pressure.
My gums were a bit sore the first couple of times, but that faded once I got the hang of it. If I’m flossing regularly and there’s no real buildup, I might drop back to normal mode just because it’s quicker and less noisy. But I don’t think strong mode is going to wreck anything if you’re not aggressive with it. The people who seem to have trouble are the ones pressing hard and dragging it around like a scraper. That’s not what it’s for.
I noticed the same thing when I first ran mine along a gravel edge. The steel wires catch everything and just hurl it out, especially if you’re cutting close to the ground. I’d say it’s pretty normal for this head, just worth wearing proper eye protection and maybe long pants while you get used to it.
I was on the fence about this too, but the replies kinda settled it for me. Sounds like it’s fine for what it is, as long as I don’t expect miracles at full zoom. I’ll probably grab one and just use it for casual scanning.
Carpet is the culprit, not you. I moved mine between the hallway and a rug once and the difference was enough to make me stop trusting it for a few days. The body fat numbers especially seemed to shift around on the soft surface, which made the whole scan feel pointless.
I keep mine on a hard floor now and just accept that it needs that stable base. It is annoying if you want to weigh in a hurry somewhere else, but the consistency is worth the extra few steps to the bathroom. I would say treat the carpet readings as roughly correct at best and don’t overthink the exact numbers from those sessions.
