I think the zoom gets a worse reputation than it deserves, but you have to keep your expectations in check. I’ve used mine mostly for checking out what’s hanging around the shed at the back of my yard, and at 3x or so it’s totally fine for that. Past that, yeah, it gets soft, but I’m not trying to read a license plate or anything. I just want to know if that shape is a deer or a neighbor’s dog.
The way I see it, the IR is doing most of the work anyway. The zoom is more of a bonus than the main feature. If you’re planning to rely on 5x all the time, you might be disappointed. But for just spotting movement and getting a better look at something you already caught, it’s good enough. I wouldn’t call it a gimmick, just not the selling point.
Could be the remote sensor on the unit. Mine has a similar quirk where it works great if the remote is pointed at it from an angle, but straight on from a distance it sometimes doesn’t register. Not a big deal for me since I mostly use the onboard buttons anyway.
The collar strap itself probably won’t be the issue at 20 kg. I’d be more curious if the receiver part sits flush against his neck or if it sticks out a bit since border collies have that thicker fur. The strap adjusts fine, it’s more about how the unit sits that could bug him at first.
Honestly I never even paid attention to the pad thickness until you mentioned it. Mine have been sticking fine for the last couple weeks, but I also make sure the skin is dry before putting them on. Maybe that helps more than the pad quality itself.
Probably same as any other heater, honestly. I’ve had mine running in the living room most evenings and haven’t really noticed it being worse than my old space heater. Could just be the room size or how long you’ve got it going.
Can’t say I’ve got that issue with mine. Timer shuts it off and it’s pretty quiet, maybe a faint hum but nothing that sounds like a click. Could be a quirk of your unit, but I wouldn’t worry unless it gets louder or starts doing it randomly.
I think that smell is just part of how these things behave when you switch modes. I tried mine on heat for the first time the other day and it had a similar thing going on, but it didn’t last long. I’m not totally sure if it’s fully gone or if I just got used to it, but it hasn’t bothered me since.
I’ve worn mine for like 3-4 hours straight on a few calls and they didn’t bother me. They’re light enough that I forgot they were in after a bit. No loosening up or irritation on my end.

I got one for the same reason and honestly the listen and repeat mode is decent enough for getting the hang of common phrases. Just don’t expect it to nitpick your accent or anything.
I usually just leave mine plugged into the TV’s USB port and don’t think twice about it. Most newer TVs cut power to those ports when they’re off anyway, so it’s not like the stick is running 24/7. Hasn’t caused any issues on my end.
I wouldn’t overthink it too much. The mouthguard is flexible so it should still fit even with brackets, and the lights are spread out enough that some of them will hit your gums. Probably not a perfect fit but good enough for gum sensitivity.
Honestly, if you can wipe down a normal showerhead, this one’s not any more work. The outside is just smooth plastic so it doesn’t really hold onto scale or soap scum the way some metal ones do. The filter being sealed inside means you don’t have to mess with it until it’s time to swap it out. Seems pretty low maintenance to me.
Mine felt the same way at first but I wouldn’t say it softened up that much after a week. It’s still on the firmer side compared to other memory foam pillows I’ve used. Honestly I kind of got used to it after a few nights and now it doesn’t bother me. Might just be how it is.
I think it would probably work fine with a converter box. I have an older set myself and I just ran the antenna into the box and it picked up channels without much fuss. The WaveMax is just an antenna after all, so as long as the signal gets to the tuner it should be good.
I get the concern but honestly I think people make it more complicated than it is. They’re just earbuds with a translation app, not some super finicky piece of tech.
I get what you’re saying. The contrast thing does change how some signs look, almost like they have a slight digital sharpness to them. For me it’s not a big deal, just something you notice at first and then stop thinking about. Still way better than squinting through regular sunglasses.
I’m not really convinced the wall mount makes that big of a difference. I’ve got mine on a shelf about waist high and the air moves around my room just fine. Probably depends more on where you put it than how you mount it.
I’ve been using mine mostly as a regular camping light and haven’t had issues with battery life, but I also don’t run the repellent much. For what it is, 12 hours seems pretty decent for a little light that does double duty. I’d just take a power bank if I needed it to last longer.
I just use mine clipped to a loop on my daypack and it works fine. I never really had a problem with the old one either, so the bigger clip is just a nice bonus. It’s not something I’d overthink.
I’d say give it a try. My ceiling situation isn’t great either and it still takes the edge off enough that I don’t dread summer afternoons. It runs a fair bit but it’s not annoyingly loud or anything.
I think it’s probably just the way they’re built. Mine has a tiny bit of movement too but it’s been working fine for over a week now. Not a big deal for me honestly. Still cools the room okay.
I’d be curious how it handles a really loud bar area too. Social mode worked fine at a quieter restaurant for me, but I haven’t pushed it that far yet.
I’ve used mine in a pretty loud train station and it was hit or miss. The translation worked but I had to repeat myself a couple times. Still got through the conversation fine though.
