I’ve had the AerioQ for a bit and the remote seems to only work if I’m pretty close to it. From across the room it’s hit or miss. Anyone else notice this or is it just my unit?

Mine does the same thing. I keep the remote on the little table next to the couch and it works fine, but if I lean back or move to the other side of the room it just ignores me half the time. I figured that’s just how these things are, they’re not really meant for across-the-room use. It’s annoying but I got used to just getting up if I need to change the temp. Not worth sending it back over, but I wouldn’t expect much range from it.

Could be the remote sensor on the unit. Mine has a similar quirk where it works great if the remote is pointed at it from an angle, but straight on from a distance it sometimes doesn’t register. Not a big deal for me since I mostly use the onboard buttons anyway.

Remote range has never really bothered me honestly. I just point it at the unit and it works. Maybe I’m not far enough away to notice, but this seems like one of those things that gets blown out of proportion.

I think the remote range on these wall units is just kind of like that. Mine works from across the room but only if I don’t have anything blocking the line of sight, like a chair back or even my own body half in the way. Not totally sure if it’s a flaw or just how the sensor is positioned on the unit. I wouldn’t worry about it too much unless you need to control it from another room.

The receiver on these units is pretty weak. I’ve noticed the same thing, mine basically needs line of sight or it just ignores the signal. Not a huge deal for me since I’m usually sitting nearby, but the range claims definitely oversell it.

I keep mine on a shelf near the window and it’s fine most of the time, but I noticed the range gets worse when the sun is hitting the unit directly. No idea if that’s actually a thing or just coincidence, but it’s something I only really run into in the afternoon.

I haven’t had to deal with this myself, but I’ve been reading up on the AerioQ because I’m thinking about getting one for my office. The remote range thing is actually one of the details I’ve seen come up a few times in different places. It seems like the remote sensor is just not the strongest, and it really depends on where the unit is mounted relative to where you usually sit.

For my situation, I’d probably try to mount it in a spot where I don’t have to aim from across the room. Like, if it’s mostly for a desk area, I’d put it closer to that side of the room. But I can see how that’s annoying if you want it in a living room and you’re usually on the couch.

I guess my take is, if everything else about the unit is fine, I’d probably just live with it and adjust where I point the remote. Not ideal, but not a dealbreaker for me. Still, it’s a bit odd for a wall unit to have such a short range on the remote. You’d think they’d make that a priority.

Mine does the same thing, but I just keep the remote on the coffee table and it’s never been a big deal. I figure most of these units are like that. I’d probably just try pointing it a bit more directly at the unit before worrying about it being defective.

Mine does the same thing, but I’ve kind of gotten used to it. I mostly use the buttons on the unit itself when I’m across the room and save the remote for when I’m sitting right by it. Feels like one of those things where they just didn’t put a very strong receiver in it.

I’m noticing the same thing with mine. The remote works fine if I’m within maybe 8-10 feet, but past that it’s a gamble. I just keep the unit on a lower setting and use the onboard buttons when I’m across the room, which is a bit annoying but not a dealbreaker.

I’m still deciding on the AerioQ so I’ve been watching these range complaints closely. For a wall unit, I’d expect the remote to work from anywhere in the room without aiming it like a TV remote. That said, I’ve seen enough people say it’s just a quirk that I’m not ruling it out yet.

I mostly use mine from the couch which is maybe ten feet away and it works fine there, but I do have to angle the remote toward the unit. If I’m in the kitchen it’s pretty much a no go. I just figured that’s how it is with these things.

Mine’s got the same limitation, but I’ve stopped caring. I mounted it high on the wall in my office, and the remote basically needs line of sight or at least a clear-ish angle. If I’m sitting at my desk, it’s fine. If I’m on the other side of the room near the door, I might as well walk over and use the buttons.

What gets me is that the manual doesn’t mention any of this. They just say wireless remote and leave it at that. It’s not a dealbreaker for me, but it does feel like one of those things they should’ve been upfront about. I’ve had cheaper units with the same issue, so I wasn’t shocked, but I also wasn’t thrilled.

The range is what it is. Either you’re close enough for it to work or you’re not. I just don’t see the point in pretending it’s something it isn’t.

Guess it’s not just my unit then. Annoying but not exactly a dealbreaker for me either, I just point it straight at the thing. Good to know I’m not the only one dealing with it.
