I swapped my old tower fan for one of these and honestly the air movement surprised me. It’s not the same blast you get from a traditional fan, but it’s a steadier, more even stream that reaches across the room. I use it at my desk and it’s enough to keep me cool without the noise.
It’s not like you need to line them up perfectly. I keep mine tucked behind everything and it does the job. Never had a problem with contactless scans since I put it in. Good enough for me.
Tap water is fine. The UV light is just killing bacteria in the bottle, it doesn’t care if you filled it from a sink or a store. I’ve been using mine with regular faucet water for a couple months now and it does what it says. No reason to buy bottled water just for this thing.
Used mine in a train station concourse and a few busy bars. The noise reduction helps but it doesn’t work miracles. As long as I speak clearly and hold the phone closer, it picked up fine. If you mumble or there’s loud music right next to you, it’s going to struggle.
Mine are actually the opposite. People on the other end sound fine, but I keep getting told my voice sounds like I’m talking from another room. I’ve checked the mic placement and everything. Maybe it’s a bit hit or miss with the call quality on these.
Mine softened up too and honestly I figure that’s just what you get with these things. If it still trims the way you need it to, I’d just keep using it and stop overthinking it. You’re probably not pressing too hard. It’s just a cheap surface that does its job for a while.
I had one for about three weeks and ended up sending it back. The vibration just made my dog more excited. She thought it was a game and would jump around even more than when she was pulling normally. The beep did nothing at all.
I think these collars work for dogs that already have some basic obedience and just need a reminder. If your lab is a serious puller that gets locked onto a scent or another dog, the vibration is probably not going to snap them out of it. It’s a light tap on the shoulder, not a wake up call.
The shock mode probably would have gotten her attention but I didn’t want to go down that road. If you’re dealing with a hard puller, I’d skip this and look at a front clip harness or get a trainer involved. This collar seems more for nagging than real correction.
The auto shutoff is the only reason I’d even consider one of these. I forgot my old lamp on once and walked back into the room a few hours later. Not great. That alone justifies the price for me, even if everything else is the same.
It’s not bulky, but it’s not going to disappear either. If you have a small mouth, you will know it’s there. I found it a bit awkward for the first couple of days but you get used to it. I wouldn’t call it comfortable, just tolerable.
The “feel” difference is exactly why I wouldnt go back. I ran an oil radiator for years and it was fine for slowly warming a room, but you had to wait forever to notice anything. I switched to a ceramic fan unit and honestly the instant heat is the whole point. You plug it in and within a minute you feel it. That direct blast of warm air is way more useful to me than the slow radiant soak. People talk about the cozy factor of the radiator but I never found sitting next to lukewarm metal that cozy. If you are just moving it around the house to chase the cold spots, the fan type is the better tool. The radiator takes too long to earn its keep.
I’d assume it works with the common pitches and not much else. Most of these handheld sharpeners are built around the standard sizes people actually run. If you’ve got something oddball, you’re probably going to be out of luck. I wouldn’t count on it being a universal fit for every chain you own.
If it’s anything like every other UV zapper I’ve messed with, the light is never the issue in a tent. The problem is people expect it to act like a bug beacon and it’s just a soft purple glow. In a pitch black tent that glow is plenty. Bugs will find it.
What would annoy me is the zapping sound keeping me up. I don’t know about you, but I’m trying to sleep, not listen to a tiny electric fence go off every five seconds. I’d probably run it for an hour before bed, kill everything in the tent, then turn it off and just sleep. No point in leaving it on all night if you’re not awake to enjoy the silence.
I also wouldn’t trust the water-resistant thing too much. Camping gear gets damp from condensation alone, not just rain. I’d keep it off the tent floor and hang it or set it on a camp table. Just don’t be surprised if it gets finicky after a few damp trips.
Anyway, for a small tent it’ll do what you want. Just don’t expect it to clear out a whole campsite. It’s a tent tool, not a miracle worker.
