I wear pretty chunky plastic frames, not the thin metal kind. The PolorVision description says it fits over most prescription glasses, but I’m worried the arms will be too tight or the lenses will sit too close. Anyone here wear bigger frames and can tell me if it actually fits without pinching? I don’t want to order something that just sits in a drawer.

My dad has the big thick plastic ones and they didn’t fit his at all, the arms sat way too wide and they kept sliding off when he turned his head. Might depend on the exact frame shape though.

Mine actually fits over my thicker frames fine, so I don’t think the arm tightness is as big an issue as people make it out to be. The lenses do sit a bit closer than I’d like but it hasn’t bothered me while driving.

Mine fit over my thicker plastic frames without any pinching, which surprised me since I figured they’d feel tight. The lenses do sit a bit closer than I’d like but it hasn’t bugged me while driving.

Chunky frames are hit or miss with these.

The arms are what got me. Mine clamped down on the sides of my frames after about twenty minutes and I had to keep taking them off at red lights. Lens distance wasn’t the problem, the squeeze was.

I’m not sure why some people act like these fit every frame out there. Mine went on my thicker pair but the arms pushed out enough that I had to adjust them every few minutes, so I ended up only using them in my thinner backup pair.

I have a pair of those big rectangular plastic frames that I wear pretty much all day, and I’ve been using the PolorVision on top of them for about two months now during my commute. Here’s the thing nobody really mentions: it depends way more on the shape of your frames than the thickness. My old pair had a really tall lens area and the PolorVision sat kind of awkwardly, the top edge of my prescription lenses poked above the visor part. Switched to a slightly shorter frame shape and suddenly they fit fine.

The arms are snug but not in a way that bugs me. I actually like that they don’t budge when I turn my head to check blind spots. The one adjustment I made was just bending the arms out a tiny bit by hand, nothing drastic, and that took care of the pressure behind my ears. Took me maybe ten seconds.

What surprised me is that the whole thing doesn’t feel as bulky as I expected once it’s on. I forget I’m wearing two pairs most of the time. Night driving is where I really notice the difference, headlights don’t smear across my vision the way they used to.

So yeah, chunky frames can work, but it’s really about the height and curve of your specific pair more than how thick the plastic is. If yours are super wide or have a really rounded shape, that’s where I’d expect trouble.

I bought these for my dad who has big plastic frames and he ended up stealing my mom’s thinner pair instead. He said the width was fine but the lenses sat right on his eyebrows which drove him nuts. Might depend on how the frames sit on your face more than the thickness.

They fit over my thick frames fine, no pinching at all. I wore them for a three hour drive last weekend and forgot they were even on. So the tight arms thing must depend on the specific frame shape.

Mine technically fit over my thick frames but the lenses sat a bit high, so I was looking through the top edge instead of the center. Drove me nuts on a two hour trip. Width wasn’t the problem, it was the height.

I have a pair of thick plastic frames that are on the wider side and the fit was a bit of a mixed bag for me. They did go over the frames without needing to force anything, so no pinching on the sides really. My issue was more that the whole thing felt front heavy. The extra weight up there made them slide down my nose a little when I looked down at my dashboard. I ended up just pushing them back up every so often which was a little annoying but not a dealbreaker. They stayed put fine once I was just looking straight ahead at the road. I still use them on longer drives because the glare reduction is worth the minor hassle. If your frames are really thick front to back, that weight thing might be more noticeable. But they definitely fit over mine without any forcing.

Mine are on the chunky side too and they slid on fine, but the real issue for me was the arms. After about 20 minutes they started pressing into the side of my head, not enough to hurt right away but enough that I noticed it. If your frames are wide I’d probably look at something else.

Probably still pinches if your frames are really wide.

Chunky frames are exactly why mine ended up in a drawer. The width was fine but the lenses sat way too far out and the glare reduction was basically gone because of the gap. If your frames are thick front to back, skip it.

My dad has those big thick plastic frames and he uses mine whenever we carpool. No pinching at all, but he does have to push them up a bit before he starts driving because they creep down a little on the bridge of his nose. Still way better than nothing on those bright mornings.

Chunky frames here and they fit, but not for the reason everyone keeps saying. Mine are Ray-Ban Wayfarers, not exactly slim, and the glasses slide over them fine. The frame arms are what I expected to hate, and they turned out to be a non-issue for me. I wore them on a four hour drive last month and forgot they were on my face.

What actually surprised me is the weight. These things are light enough that my regular glasses feel heavier by comparison. I figured anything sitting on top of another pair would feel like a brick, but no.

So yeah, if you’re worried about the arms pinching, that wasn’t my experience at all. The bigger question is whether your frames are wide enough that the lenses line up right, and mine are, so I got lucky there.

Mine are big plastic frames too and I’ve been using these for like 3 months now with zero pinching. The arms have a bit of flex so they kind of just wrap around instead of squeezing. Honestly way better than I expected for the price.

Width is usually fine, it’s the depth that gets you. My thicker frames pushed the PolorVision lenses so far forward they caught light from the side and made things worse.

I actually had the opposite problem with mine. The arms were fine but the whole thing felt loose on my face, kept sliding down whenever I turned my head. Ended up passing them to my wife who has smaller glasses and she loves them. So I guess it really just depends on the frame shape more than the thickness.
