MemberI’ve been looking at Translattia earbuds for travel and the marketing says no subscription. Just want to confirm from actual users. I don’t mind a one time purchase but I’m done with apps that charge monthly. Does the translation work fine without paying extra?

MemberNo subscription for me, just the one time buy.
14 de September de 2026 at 09:49 #11079
HanSoloParticipantNo subscription on mine either. I paid once and that was it. The app is free to use after that, though it does nag you to update sometimes. Fine for what it is.

MemberNo subscription here, it just works.

MemberMine has been fine without any subscription. I mostly use it for calls and music, and the translation part still works when I need it. If you’re set on avoiding monthly fees, this one fits that.

MemberMine’s about four months old and I haven’t paid anything past the initial purchase. Translation still works, though I only really lean on it a few times a month. No popup begging for money so far.

Laura CheckMemberI get why the monthly thing is a dealbreaker, but I don’t think the subscription worry really applies here. Translattia doesn’t seem to run on that model at all, and from what I’ve seen the translation keeps working after the initial buy. I compared it to a couple of other translator earbuds before deciding, and the ones with ongoing fees were the ones I crossed off first. The way I see it, if a company wanted a subscription they wouldn’t be advertising no subscription so loudly, since that’s the whole selling point for people like us. The only thing that costs you is the earbuds themselves, and after that it’s just normal charging and the occasional app update. So if the monthly charge is the thing holding you back, I’d say that specific concern isn’t really an issue with this one.

MemberI picked mine up mostly for the translation stuff and there was no subscription attached to it at any point. The app asked me to make an account once and that was it. Still translating fine for me.

MemberThe part that actually matters to me is the app situation, and I checked that pretty carefully before buying because I feel the same way about being nickel and dimed every month. What I found is that the app itself is free once you have the earbuds, and the translation runs on that same one time setup. No tiers, no premium unlock for the good languages, nothing like that. I messed around with it for a couple weeks testing different language pairs just to see if some hidden paywall would pop up and it never did. The only popups I ever get are update reminders, which are just normal app housekeeping. So the marketing claim holds up in my experience. Whether the translation quality itself is worth it is a totally different conversation, but the subscription side is genuinely not a thing here.

MemberI’ve had mine since spring and there’s no monthly thing attached. The app did nag me to sign in once but nothing about paying again.
14 de September de 2026 at 12:13 #11096
no_sleepParticipantThe app isn’t fully free forever, at least not for me. Basic stuff works but the more advanced live conversation mode kept pushing me toward some paid tier after the first couple months. Maybe it changed, but that’s what I ran into.
14 de September de 2026 at 12:27 #11098
Nina_gadgetMemberI’m not convinced it’s fully free forever. A friend let me try hers on a trip and the basic translation was fine, but a couple of the nicer modes wanted an account upgrade. Maybe that’s just newer units though.

MemberNo subscription on my end either. I’ve used mine on a couple trips and never hit a paywall. The app does want an account, which is annoying, but that’s it.

SarahMParticipantI bought a pair for my dad as a gift and he’s been using them for a few months now with no extra charges popping up. The app nags you to create an account, which I find annoying, but that’s not the same as a subscription. He mostly uses the basic two way translation and hasn’t mentioned any paywalls.

MemberI tried a pair during a two week trip in October and there was no subscription prompt at all, but I also never got live conversation mode to work right so maybe that’s where people are running into it. Mine just did the basic push to talk thing and that was fine for menus and taxis. I sent them back for other reasons though, the fit bugged my ears after an hour or so.
14 de September de 2026 at 14:05 #11110
Emma ReadsMemberMine came with everything unlocked when I bought it last year, no extra tier sitting there tempting me. I use the live conversation thing pretty regularly at work and it’s never asked me for a card. Maybe they changed it since then, but my pair has just been a normal one time purchase.

Mike RunnerMemberThe free part is real but I’d check which languages you actually need before buying. My coworker has a pair and the translation itself never asked her for money, but the app wanted an account and I remember her saying something about certain language packs being locked behind the paid version. She only needed Spanish and Portuguese so she never hit it. If you’re going somewhere more off the beaten path that’s where I’d be skeptical. The whole “no subscription” thing is technically true until it isn’t. I’d rather pay once upfront than get nickel and dimed later, so I get where you’re coming from. Just don’t take the marketing page at face value.

MemberNo subscription on mine either. I’ve had them about six months and the translation stuff just works. The app nags for updates sometimes but that’s it.

MemberI’ve only had mine since February and haven’t paid anything past the purchase. But a buddy who grabbed his later said the app kept pushing some premium voice pack, so the no subscription thing might depend on when you bought them.
14 de September de 2026 at 15:49 #11121Ella Voss
MemberNo subscription on mine either, but the app did try to upsell me on some voice package when I first set it up. Skipped it and translation still works. Whether it stays that way, no clue.
14 de September de 2026 at 16:02 #11123Tom West
MemberI bought mine outright and haven’t touched a subscription. My issue is I don’t trust any of these apps long term, so I’d rather just pay once and be done.
