I’m going to be the odd one out here. I had mine in the bedroom for a couple of nights and ended up moving it to the living room. The fan itself is fine, but there was a low hum that just got under my skin no matter what. I couldn’t tune it out.
I’m a side sleeper too and honestly mine ended up being more of a hassle than anything. It stayed in place fine, but I couldn’t get comfortable with it no matter how I adjusted the mold. I think I just prefer something less bulky when I’m on my side. Hope it works out better for you if you decide to try it.
I think you’re overcomplicating it a bit. The UV part is just doing its own thing inside the bottle, it doesn’t know or care where the water came from. I’ve filled mine from all sorts of places, random fountains at the park, the weird sink at my gym, whatever, and it still does the job.
I actually think the old beep was better for the kind of alarm I need. The short chirps on the CarbonOne blend in with my microwave and other kitchen sounds, so I’ve almost missed it a couple of times. The continuous loud one was annoying but at least it got my attention instantly. Maybe mine is just quieter than yours, but I wouldn’t mind a louder pattern.
I still get a week or more out of mine and I’ve had it since last winter. I do keep the heat off most of the time though, so that might be why mine hasn’t dropped off as much.
I moved from a big oil filled radiator to one of these plug in ceramic heaters last winter and honestly the biggest difference for me wasnt the heat itself, it was how I used it. With the radiator I would set it in the corner and basically treat it like a mini furnace for the whole room. This one I kind of learned to keep near me instead. If I’m at my desk it sits on the floor next to my chair and I feel it right away. If I’m on the couch I move it over by my feet. It’s more like wearing a warm blanket than heating the space, if that makes sense.
I do miss the way the radiator would keep the room warm after it clicked off though. This one stops blasting and the warmth fades pretty fast. But the tradeoff is I’m not waiting twenty minutes for the room to feel livable. I plug it in and within a minute or two I’m comfortable. For me that was worth it because I only really need heat in the spots where I’m sitting anyway.
One thing I didn’t expect is that I actually run it less than I thought I would. Since the warmth is so direct, I turn it off when I get up to do stuff and I dont feel like I lost anything. With the radiator I always felt like I had to keep it running all evening. So my bill evened out a bit compared to what I was doing before.
If you already have a working radiator I wouldnt toss it. Maybe keep it for the really cold nights and use the smaller one for everyday. Thats kind of what I ended up doing.
I’d just open the box before ordering anything extra. Mine came with a couple spare tips tucked in the packaging, so it’s probably fine to hold off.
I have a pair of prescription frames that are honestly on the bigger side, mostly because I prefer that look, and they do fit but it’s not like there’s tons of extra room. The arms on my glasses are fairly standard though, not those thick chunky ones. I had to get used to putting the PolorVision on a certain way, kind of tilting it so the arms slide over without catching on my frames. Once they’re on, they sit fine and don’t feel like they’re squeezing my head or anything.
I don’t think I’d want to go much bigger than what I have, but for my day to day driving they work well enough. I mainly use them for longer trips and they stay put pretty good. If your glasses have really chunky arms, that might be where you run into trouble.
My 2007 has the older style port and SynGas has been working fine in it for a couple of months now. The port itself is pretty much the same across all cars from that era, so I wouldn’t worry about the year. The only thing I noticed is that once it’s plugged in, it sits pretty flush, so it’s not like you have to fight with it or anything. The connector clicked right in and that was that. I think the bigger thing is just making sure it’s pushed in all the way, because the port can be in an awkward spot on some cars and it’s easy to think it’s seated when it’s not. But you’ll know pretty quick once you start driving, it just works or it doesn’t. Mine adapted to my driving style after a few weeks and I’ve been happy with it since.
