I’d want to see someone do a side by side with a finger prick before I’d trust that number for anything serious. It’s a nice feature to glance at, but I wouldn’t base any decisions on it.
I had the same worry when I got one for my aussie mix, who’s right around that same weight. Honestly, I almost didn’t order it because I thought the strap would be bulky or hang weird on her neck. But it’s actually got a decent amount of adjustment room, so I didn’t have any trouble getting it to sit snug without being tight.
She wears it for a few hours most days, not all day, but I’ve forgotten to take it off after training a couple of times and she didn’t seem bothered. The contact points sit fine against her fur, no chafing or anything. I was more worried about the receiver being too heavy and flopping around, but it stays put pretty well.
My only small complaint is that I wish the strap had a bit more padding, but that’s me being picky. For a 20 kg dog I think you’ll be fine. My girl is maybe a touch leaner than a border collie and it fits her well, so I’d say go for it. If anything, I’d rather have it slightly too big than too small, since you can always tighten it. Just make sure you’ve got two fingers of space under it and it should be comfortable for normal wear.
I usually just wing it honestly. Some days I’ll do the full cycle, other days I’ll cut it short if I’m rushing. I don’t think it needs to be super precise, just consistent. The timer is there if you want it, but I wouldn’t stress about hitting an exact minute every time.
I think if you’re mainly using them for calls they’re probably fine. I wore mine for a long flight and they didn’t really bug me, just kind of stayed put.
I’d guess the translation works fine with one bud since it’s all going through the app anyway. I haven’t tried it myself but it seems like it would just pick up whichever one you grab. Probably not worth overthinking.
15 minutes sounds about right for a quick deck blow-off if you’re not trying to be super thorough. I’d probably just do it in one go and see how far the battery gets you.

I saw this and wondered the same thing before I got mine. Honestly I just threw it in my backpack with a bunch of stuff and had my wife call it from another room and I could hear it fine. Not super loud but definitely noticeable.
Honestly, 30 minutes is probably the “no attachments, light dust” number. Slap a brush on there and the motor works harder, battery drains faster. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
I’m curious about that too. But if the regular mode really lasts that long, I feel like it’s more of a set-and-forget thing than something you’d need to constantly babysit.
