MemberOkay, before I even think about ordering the Derila Ergo, does it fit into a normal pillowcase or do I need to hunt down some special one? Seems like the shape might be awkward for a standard case.

MemberMine fits a standard case but the corners look a bit lumpy.

Mar__kusMemberMine slid into an old cotton case fine, so the shape wasn’t the issue. What bugged me was the case sliding around on the foam overnight.

Nina WhiteMemberMine just lives in a regular case and I never bothered hunting down anything special. The shape means it looks a little odd, but it still does the job.

MemberMine goes in a regular case just fine. The fit is a little snug around the wings but nothing that made me go buy a special one.

MemberIt stretches over a standard case fine, but I gave up on that after a week. The cover is already soft and the whole point is the shape, so I just use it bare and wash the cover when needed.

MemberRegular case worked, just looked dumb.

MemberJust use the cover it comes with. I messed around with a regular case for maybe three nights and it was more hassle than it was worth. The foam cover is already soft enough, and stuffing it in a case just made the whole thing feel bulkier than it needed to be. If you’re set on using a case, you can, but you’re basically covering up the part you paid for. I stopped bothering and it sleeps the same.

emily_rParticipantI actually couldn’t get mine to fit properly in a standard case at all. The corners bunched up around the wings and it looked lumpy, so I ended up just using the cover it came with. Not sure why it worked for others but it didn’t for me.

MemberMine actually didn’t work out with a regular case at all. I tried one of my old cotton ones and the pillow kept sliding around inside it because of the shape, so I’d wake up with the whole thing twisted sideways. The cover it comes with has a bit of grip to it that keeps it in place, which a slick pillowcase doesn’t have. So I just stopped using a case entirely and wash the built in cover instead. Not saying everyone will have that problem, but the standard case thing definitely wasn’t as simple as just stretching it on for me. If you’re someone who tosses and turns a lot, that sliding issue is worth knowing about before you order.

MemberThe one thing nobody mentions is that the cover has a zipper on the short side, so if you do stuff it in a regular case, the zipper pull sits right where your ear goes. Drove me nuts for two nights. I flipped the whole thing around so the zipper faces the foot of the bed and that fixed it. Case itself fits, it’s just the hardware placement that gets annoying. And yeah, a standard case does stretch over the wings, but you lose the cooling feel because you’re adding another layer of cotton on top of what’s already a breathable cover. So it kind of defeats part of the purpose. I still use a thin case because I like being able to wash something regularly, but I went with the cheapest thinnest one I could find instead of a normal thick pillowcase. Not a huge deal either way, just something to keep in mind if you’re picky about stuff touching your ear.

MemberIt’s not really awkward at all. Mine slips into a standard case without a fight, and I’ve been using it that way since I got it. The shape looks weird before you put one on but it settles fine once the foam warms up. Never bothered hunting down anything special.

MemberI’d just use a bigger case if I had to.

Nina_gadgetMemberMine fits a regular case fine, so I don’t really get the whole “special case” thing. It’s not like a perfect tailored fit but it stays put and looks normal enough. I’ve had mine in a standard cotton case for a couple months now with zero issues.

MemberMine’s been in a plain jersey case for about a month now. The fit is a little loose around the wing parts but it doesn’t slide around or bother me at night. I never bothered looking for a special one.

MemberMine’s been in a normal case since day one and it’s fine. The fit isn’t snug around the wings but it doesn’t bother me at all. I just use whatever case is clean that week.

no_sleepParticipantMine’s just been naked since week two.

MemberI was wondering the same thing before I ordered mine, since the shape looks kind of odd in the photos. I haven’t actually pulled the trigger yet though, so I’m just lurking here for answers too. Curious if anyone’s tried a silk case specifically, since those tend to be a bit more fitted.

MemberI don’t really buy that the shape makes a regular case impossible. It’s a pillow, not a jigsaw puzzle, and most cases have enough give to stretch over odd shapes. If anything, a slightly loose case is easier to deal with than hunting down a special one.
