Mine doesn’t have a mute button either, but the volume buttons do drop to zero if you keep tapping. I checked with a game running and it went fully silent, so that works fine for the bus.
I’m a lefty and I mostly stopped using mine for anything but a quick touch up on the bench, where I can hold the saw steady with my right hand. Out in the field it just never felt right in my grip, so I grab a file instead. That’s just what works for me.
I’d just leave translation mode off for movies. Tried it once on a French film and the delay made it more annoying than reading subs. For music and calls mine are fine, that’s what I keep them for.
Mine sits about three feet from my head and I only notice it once the fridge stops humming. Doesn’t get louder, my ears just have nothing else to grab onto. If you need dead silence, this thing probably won’t cut it.
Adding games is doable but I wouldn’t call it effortless. I tried it once, got a couple working, then quit messing with it. Half the battle is figuring out which folder they actually belong in.
I have had the opposite experience from some people here. I picked one up a couple months ago and I do notice a small drop in clarity compared to plugging in directly. It’s not night and day, but cymbals and high hats sound a bit softer and there’s a tiny bit of that compressed feel on streaming stuff. I figured it was just me, so I switched back to the cable for a week, then went wireless again. The difference is consistent enough that I notice it within a few minutes of listening.
The convenience is still worth it for me since I do a lot of short trips, but the sound is not identical in my car. If you are happy with regular Bluetooth quality, you will probably be fine. If you are picky about the top end of your music, keep the cable handy for longer drives.
It is a bit cheap that they don’t toss in at least a soft bag. Mine showed up with nothing but the glasses in a box, and I’ve just been leaving them on the passenger seat. I can see them getting scratched up or lost if you’re not careful about where you put them.
I just treat the scale’s heart rate as a bonus number rather than something accurate. Mine tends to run a few beats higher than my watch, but it’s consistent about it. As long as it’s not wildly off, I wouldn’t worry too much.
If you already hand wash your good knives, the Matsato is not going to add extra work. The steel is the easy part. I found the handle is the thing that actually needs a bit of attention. I just make sure it is totally dry before it goes back in the drawer, and I do not let it sit wet in the sink while I finish cooking. No oiling or anything so far, but I am only a few months in.
I think a lot of people expect the barrier to work like those old bug zappers where you hang it up and the whole yard is clear. That was my first mistake too. I brought mine to a cookout and set it on the cooler, expecting everyone within ten feet to be safe. Didn’t happen. The thing is, I bought it mostly for the light and the battery life, so I was never too bothered by the bug claims. For tent use it does exactly what I need. I hang it near the entrance and it keeps the space inside calm enough that I can read before bed without something buzzing my ear. That alone was worth bringing it along.
What I noticed is that it works better when there is no competing light source. If I am using it on the deck with the porch light on, it seems to do nothing. When it is the only light around, the bugs seem to keep their distance a bit more. I have no idea why that is, but it has been consistent for me over several trips.
I would say if you are treating it as a secondary layer of protection while staying close to the light, you will probably be fine. If you expect it to clear out a whole campsite while you wander around the edges, that is not what it does. I stopped checking for bites and just started keeping it near my chair when I sit out.
It’s the end-of-cycle signal, plain and simple. Mine has done it from the first use and hasn’t changed since. I keep mine in the hallway so I actually rely on the beeps to know when to swap loads.
I’d say it reduces it more than removes it. In my case the smell dropped a lot once the water had been running for a minute or two. First few seconds still have that chlorine edge, but after that it’s barely noticeable. Good enough that I stopped caring about it.
The fitting question always gets overblown. I grabbed one for a machine that’s been sitting in my shed for years and it mounted up without any fuss. Quick swap and it was running fine. The main thing is just making sure the head locks in tight before you start it up.
I look at it this way: if you’ve got expensive electronics, keep them on a proper surge strip anyway. StopWatt might smooth things out a bit, but I wouldn’t stake my TV on it. Mine has been in for a few weeks now and I haven’t seen any storm damage, but I also haven’t had a direct hit to really test it.
I’d say ice is overrated for this. I ran mine with just water for two months and it was fine for sitting at a desk. The difference with ice is noticeable but it fades fast anyway, so unless your office is actually hot it’s not worth the daily hassle.
Mine was slower than the rack on most stuff, to be honest. T-shirts and socks took about the same time, maybe a bit longer. I ended up using it mainly for things I didn’t want hanging around the bathroom, not because it was faster.
I gave the adhesive hooks a shot too. The unit is light enough that it seems to work, but I wouldn’t count on it staying up long term. It’s one of those things where it’s fine until it isn’t.
Honestly, the desk placement is the smarter play. Keeps it out of the wall and gives you one less thing to worry about.
Cellular signal has nothing to do with the connection between your phone and the adapter. It’s purely Bluetooth and Wi-Fi between those two. I’ve used mine in underground parking garages, out in the middle of nowhere with zero bars, and it never dropped the CarPlay link because of that.
The only time you’d notice the phone signal is when you’re using something that needs data, like live traffic in maps or streaming music. Those will load slowly or just sit there spinning until you get back to better coverage. But the CarPlay connection itself? It stays up just fine.
I will say the Wi-Fi part is what matters most. If you park next to someone with a strong signal on the same band, you might get some interference, but that’s rare. My setup has been stable for the most part. I would not worry about the garage situation.
They do settle down after a bit, but not because the sensitivity changes. You just learn where not to grab them. I mostly hold mine by the very edge when I need to adjust them or take them out. If I grab the middle of the bud, it skips or pauses every time.
Took me maybe a week to break the habit of pinching them like regular earbuds. Once I got that down, it stopped being an issue. I still accidentally trigger them when I’m putting them in my ears or taking them out if I’m not paying attention, but that’s on me now, not the earbuds.
They’re not going to magically become less touchy. You just adapt your grip. If you can live with that little learning curve, it’s fine. If you know you’re someone who constantly fiddles with your earbuds, it might always bug you a little.
Mine faded out gradually over maybe two months of light use. The giveaway was that I had to start pressing harder and doing way more passes just to see the same result. You’ll feel it when it’s not pulling its weight anymore. I’d say replace it once you notice that.
I’d rather have the option to use my own SIM anyway, even if the included one works fine. That’s really the whole point of a travel router for me. If it locked me into one provider, I wouldn’t have bought it.
I wouldn’t stress too much about it. I just plugged mine into an outlet in the hallway and left it alone. It’s not like you’re going to move it around every day anyway, so just find a spot that’s out of the way and call it done.
The pause is just the unit resetting itself internally, not a problem. Mine does it too and I’ve never had an issue with the cooling. It’s one of those things you stop noticing after a week.
