I think it matters less than you’d expect. I keep mine tucked behind my debit card in a normal leather bifold, not even in the center of the stack, and I haven’t had any issues. I’ve tested it a couple times at those self-checkout scanners by accident and nothing went through. The signal gets blocked around the whole wallet, not just the card it’s touching. I wouldn’t stress about having it perfectly positioned next to every card you own. The way I see it, the thing is thin enough that it doesn’t add bulk, so even if it only works half as well as advertised, it’s still better than carrying nothing. I’ve had mine for a few months now and I just forget it’s in there.
Mine does the exact same thing and I actually like it. The short chirps give me a heads up before the full alarm, which is nice when I’m in the other room. I feel like I can tell the difference between a real alarm and just the detector doing its thing.
If I were starting from zero and didn’t trust my eye with a file, I’d grab one. It does the angle work for you and that’s really the whole battle when you’re learning. I don’t think it’s a gadget, just a tool that removes one annoying step. You can always go back to freehand later.
I was really close to buying one last summer, but ended up borrowing my neighbor’s for a weekend before committing. I was dead set on using it for the upper part of my house since I didn’t want to drag out a pressure washer. After trying it, I completely changed my mind about that plan. It’s not that the Jetterix is heavy, because it’s really not. The problem is the hose and the water pressure fighting you the whole time. You’re up there trying to balance, and the hose is pulling and twisting, and you need both hands just to keep the thing aimed where you want it. I ended up doing the ground level and the porch steps with it, and it was fine for that. For the second story, I just went back to a long pole and a regular brush attachment. I still think it’s a decent little tool for the money, just not for ladder work.
