MemberI’ve been using the Qinux AquaSylk for about two weeks now and I’ve noticed that my body wash doesn’t seem to foam up as much as it used to. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s kind of weird. Is this something that happens with filtered shower heads? I’m not sure if it’s the product or if my water pressure changed or something. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Emma ReadsMemberMine lathered less too and I liked it better.

TommyWiresMemberI noticed the same thing but honestly didn’t connect it to the shower head until now. Figured I was just using less body wash by accident. Still get clean either way so I haven’t really cared.

LauTopMemberI actually prefer the lower lather. Less suds means less leftover residue on my skin, and I hate that squeaky feeling cheap body wash leaves behind anyway.

MemberSoap lathering is mostly about what’s in the water, not really the shower head itself. I had a similar thing when I swapped out my old head for a filtered one a while back. Suds dropped a bit but the water felt different, less slick I guess. My wife actually noticed it more than me since she uses bar soap and that stuff barely bubbled anymore. I picked up a cheap mesh loofah thing and it foams fine now. Not saying you need to do that, just what worked around here. Two weeks in is probably just your normal now.

MemberMine actually got a bit more foamy after I swapped heads, so I’m not sure it’s a universal thing. Could just depend on what’s in your water to start with. Either way I’ve been happy with mine after a couple months.

MemberMine didn’t change the lather at all, so I don’t think it’s just a filtered shower head thing. Two weeks in and my soap foams exactly the same as before. Maybe check if anything got bumped on your shower setup?

MemberI don’t think the head itself is really what’s changing your lather. Filtered or not, soap still foams based on your water and how much product you’re using, so I’d look at your body wash before blaming the AquaSylk. Two weeks isn’t really long enough to judge much anyway.

MemberTwo weeks is about when my lather went back to normal on its own. I never figured out why, but it wasn’t permanent for me.

EthanFreeMemberMine got worse before it got better, but not because of the filter. I figured out my water heater was turned down a bit around the same time, and hotter water always made my soap foam more. Turned it back up and the lather came right back.

MemberTwo weeks in and mine lathered the same.

MemberMine lathered less for a bit but it evened out eventually. I didn’t change anything else, so I just figured it was the filter settling in. If it’s still off after another week or so, maybe check your shower pressure separately.

MemberWater softness definitely plays a role in lather, that part I get. But when I switched my shower head a while back, the opposite happened. My soap got foamier, not less. My guess is it comes down to how much water is actually coming through per second. If the new head is cutting the flow even a little, you get less agitation and the soap just kind of sits there instead of whipping up. I noticed this most with bar soap, less with the liquid stuff. So if your body wash is thicker, that could explain why it’s foaming less now. Not really a filter thing in my experience, more of a flow thing.

Luis_A91MemberI swapped to a filtered head last year, not this exact one but same idea, and my shampoo lathered differently for a bit too. For me it was actually the spray pattern more than the water itself. The old head had fewer holes so the water hit harder in one spot and got things going faster. The new one spread it out softer and I had to work the soap in more. Once I got used to that it was fine. Could be something similar if your old head was a cheap high pressure type. I still think the softer water feel is worth it though, my skin doesn’t feel as tight after showers.

MemberMine actually lathered more, so who knows.

MemberLather changed for me too but it was the soap, not the filter. Same head, different bottle, way less foam. Swapped back and it was fine. So I’d check that before blaming the AquaSylk.
