I’ve had mine a few months and I almost never keep it plugged in while it’s running. Charge it up, carry it to the kitchen or wherever, and it runs fine until the battery drains. So the whole “tethered” thing doesn’t match how I use it at all.
Mine seems to keep doing its thing even when I’m stuck creeping along in traffic. I do a lot of school pickup idling and it hasn’t thrown anything off. Honestly the smoother pedal feel is what I notice most in stop and go, not some big mpg jump.
Mine actually gets pretty toasty on the highest setting, way more than I expected from a little gadget. I’ve used it on my lower back after sitting all day and the heat alone made me keep it on longer than the 15 minutes it recommends. So I’d say it’s not a gimmick at all.
I watched a Spanish series with mine last weekend and it kept up surprisingly well, even during the fast back and forth bits. A few lines came out a little clunky but I still followed the story fine without subtitles. It’s become my new lazy way to watch stuff honestly.
I’ve been using tap water in mine since spring and it’s still going strong. I do dump it out and let it dry whenever I remember, which probably helps. If you’re somewhere with really hard water it might be different, but mine’s been fine.
The UV cap is the only reason I still use mine honestly. I left water sitting in it for like four days during a road trip and it still tasted fine, which would never happen with my old bottle. Charging is a bit annoying but I just plug it in when I remember.
I noticed the same thing around the end of my first week with it. The casing gets noticeably warm but it’s been running fine for a couple months now. I figure if it ever gets actually hot to the touch that’s when I’d start paying attention.
I think people overestimate how much the shaking matters with this one. My mom has the same issue and honestly the bigger problem for her was always squeezing the clippers, not the aim. TrimZa takes that part out of the equation entirely, so it just becomes about getting it near the nail. She still needs a minute to line it up, but she can actually finish the job on her own now.
I think these remotes are a bit more resilient than they look. The plastic feels sturdy enough that a quick drop in damp grass shouldn’t be the end of it. I’d just make sure the charging port is completely dry before you plug it in later, that’s usually where the trouble starts. Did it stay on after the fall or did you have to power cycle it?
Honestly I would just go straight to the wall with these kinds of space heaters. I know it’s a pain depending on where your bed is, but the cord on mine is pretty short anyway. I would not want to mess around with a strip given how much power it draws.
Bright light doesn’t stop the UV-C from working, but I do think it makes it harder to tell where the lamp has actually reached. I usually close the curtains anyway just so I can tell where the beam was and what it covered. Not a dealbreaker either way.
Mine doesn’t click either, just sort of sits there with the magnets holding it. I actually think that’s normal for these chargers. If it’s staying put on your nightstand, I wouldn’t expect it to randomly fall off, but I get why it feels a bit unsure.
I actually had mine angled toward the fence where the squirrels run along, and they definitely noticed it. They’d stop, sit up, and then dart off instead of hopping down to the feeder. Took maybe a week before they started treating that side of the yard as a no-go zone. The birds don’t seem bothered, which is the part I care about.
I think it’s one of those things where you just get used to it. Mine has been in the same HDMI port for a while now, and I never really think about it until I need to change something. The only time I noticed it feeling a bit warm was right after I’d been watching something for a few hours, but even then it wasn’t anything that made me want to unplug it. I guess with these little sticks, some heat is just normal since they’re so small. I can’t say for sure what it’ll be like a couple of years down the line, but for everyday use it seems fine to leave it alone. I wouldn’t even know how often people actually unplug these things anyway.
I actually went the opposite way and got rid of my timer. I just use the remote and turn it off myself when I remember. The auto shutoff is nice but I never really trusted it enough to leave the room for long anyway. I ended up using it way less than I thought I would.
I always assume these things don’t come with a real protector. The film that ships on the screen is usually just for dust and scratches during transport, so I peeled mine off right away. I grabbed a basic one for mine and it fit fine, so I’d say just pick one up so you don’t have to worry about it bouncing around in your bag.
I think a lot of it comes down to how often the Wi-Fi gets triggered. I found that if I turned mine off between shots, the battery stretched way further than when I left it on standby in my pocket. Does the heat or sun affect yours at all?
I think people get hung up on the case thing because it feels like the card should be talking to your phone all the time. But mine just sits loose in the little zip pocket of my tote bag, and honestly my phone is usually in my hand or on a table somewhere nearby. The whole point is that it pings off other people’s iPhones when you’re not around yours.
I actually found this out by accident when I left my wallet at a restaurant a few months back. I was already a few blocks away before I realized it, and I pulled up Find My thinking it would just show me the last place I had it. Instead it showed the actual restaurant because some random person’s phone picked up the signal while they were eating there. I wasn’t even near my own phone at that moment, it was in my bag and I was looking at my watch.
The case thing really has nothing to do with how it functions day to day. Once you pair it with your Apple ID, it’s just out there doing its thing. It doesn’t need to be near your phone to work. It needs to be near any Apple device, which is basically everywhere these days.
I’ve had mine since around the holidays and it’s been through the wash once too, which I was not happy about, but it survived that too. If you’re just tossing it in a bag or a pocket, I really wouldn’t overthink the case angle at all.
I’m probably the wrong person to ask since I only break mine out for a quick once-over after cooking, but I did let mine sit for a few weeks once and it still handled it fine. The old stuff came off in chunks rather than the smooth wipe you get when it’s fresh. Took a bit more patience than I usually have, but I didn’t have to dig in with anything else.
Honestly, I think people overthink the strap thing a bit. I have a similar cordless shoulder massager and yeah, if you’re doing cartwheels it’s gonna move, but at a desk? It’s fine. I wear mine when I’m answering emails and it stays where I put it. The strap just kind of hooks over your shoulder and under the opposite arm, so it’s not like it’s just dangling there.
The only time mine shifts is if I lean way back in my chair or reach for something across my desk. Even then, it’s more of a nudge back into place than a full reposition. I wouldn’t worry about it sliding off while you’re typing or anything. If you’re mostly sitting still, it’ll do its job.
I’ve had mine for a little while now and the main thing I noticed is how easy it is to just toss in a bag. I’m not one for fussing with settings either, so the quick setup works for me.
