I switched from a Pixel to an iPhone last year and my history came over fine after logging into the same account. I do like keeping the app login instead of just relying on the phone’s health app though, since that seems to be where the actual data lives.
I actually used mine on the plastic trim around my wheel arches and it did help with the lighter marks. Not a full restore or anything, but it evened things out enough that I stopped noticing them. The scuffs that were down into the plastic stayed put though.
I have a 14 lb schnauzer mix and the collar part itself is actually fine on him, it’s just wider than his old one so it took a few walks for both of us to get used to the look. It doesn’t slide on him once it’s snug. The chunkier feel in photos is mostly the tracker sitting on top, not the band.
I’d probably just leave subtitles on for movies and save the earbuds for music. Tried something similar once and spent more time giggling at the weird translation than following the plot. For a quick scene here and there it’s fine, but I wouldn’t build a movie night around it.
Mine came with the case in the box, but that was from a listing that clearly showed the case as part of the package, not as a separate bundle item. I’ve had it for about four months now and used it mostly for pool stuff and a couple of beach trips, and the case has held up fine so far. The seal still looks good and I haven’t had any leaks.
That said, I do think it depends a lot on which seller you go with. Some of them seem to throw the case in, others treat it like an extra. If the listing is vague about it, I’d just ask before buying rather than assume. For snorkeling specifically, the case is what makes it usable underwater, so it’s worth confirming either way. If it turns out it’s not included, buying one separately isn’t a huge deal, just adds a bit to the total cost.
Appreciate all the replies, that clears it up more than the product page did. Sounds like I’d still get the camera and alerts, just no auto ID, which is fine for now. I’ll probably grab one and see how much I actually care about the naming part before adding anything.
I care more about how it feels day to day than the install fuss, so I just grabbed mine and it went right on the arm in my apartment. No adapter, no drama. If your arm is the usual fixed kind you’re probably fine.
A full staircase is fine for what this thing is. I do our steps a couple times a week and it never quits on me, just takes a few passes since the head is small. If you’re expecting one swipe per step you’ll be annoyed, but for quick touch ups it holds up.
I use tap water in mine but I do run it with the ice chamber a lot, and the little tray gets a cloudy film after a while. Doesn’t seem to hurt anything, it still blows cold. I just wipe it out when I notice it.
Bluetooth range alone won’t help much with a checked bag, in my experience. I used mine on a trip last month and got nothing until the bag was basically coming down the carousel. It’s fine for finding a lost backpack at a cafe, but for checked luggage the whole thing felt pretty pointless to me.
I had the same worry before getting mine, especially since my fridge is one of those counter-height ones where every inch of shelf space feels precious. What surprised me was how easy it was to find a spot for it once I stopped trying to place it like a box and just let it sit wherever there was a gap. If your shelves are completely stuffed with no empty corners at all, that might be a different story, but if you have any little pocket of space, it’s probably going to fit fine.
Honestly? I had kind of the opposite thing happen with mine. I picked it up expecting it to be one of those knives you have to baby a little, given the wood handle and everything. I read a few things before buying it that made me think I’d be doing some kind of extra ritual every few weeks to keep it from drying out or cracking.
Turns out I was wrong. The beech wood handle is way more low maintenance than I assumed. I treat it like I do all my kitchen stuff: hand wash it with warm soapy water after I’m done cooking and dry it off with a towel before putting it away. That’s it. No special oils, no weird conditioning routine, nothing like that. After several months of near daily use, the handle still looks pretty much the same as the day I got it. Maybe slightly darker from being handled, but in a nice way.
The blade itself is the part that actually shifted my thinking. I went in assuming stainless steel meant I could be a bit more careless, but it still needs attention if you want it to stay sharp. It’s not that it dulls fast, it’s just that I found myself reaching for the sharpening steel way more often than I do with my other knives. Not a complaint, just a reality check. It made me realize that no knife is truly maintenance free, even the stainless ones.
So yeah, it fits into a normal routine. Just don’t expect to completely ignore it.
If you’re camping somewhere properly off grid, no router is going to fix that. But if there’s even a faint signal around, the Ryoko seems to grab it better than most phones. I’d still take a power bank with you though, because hunting for signal can drain the battery quicker than you’d think.
The 8 hour claim is definitely based on a full tank, so half filling it just means you’ll be topping it up sooner. That’s the only real difference I’ve noticed. I keep mine on the lower fan setting most of the day and it still cools fine even when the water level gets pretty low, so I wouldn’t overthink the halfway thing.
I must be getting unlucky with mine then, because I feel like mine drains pretty quick in motion detect mode. I had it set up near a window for like a day and a half and it was already down to the red. I know the light changes were probably setting it off constantly, but still, I was surprised it didn’t go longer than that. I’m probably going to have to get into the habit of charging it every other day at the most.
That is not what I have seen with mine at all. I have had an AlarmTag for about a year now and the strobe stays lit for as long as the pin is out. I use it mostly when I am walking my dog in the evenings and I have definitely let it run for a solid few minutes when I fumbled with the pin after a scare. It was still flashing away.
I actually think it is designed to keep going until you physically reset it. If it timed out on its own, that would be a huge flaw for a safety device. You want it to keep making noise and flashing until you are safe and can turn it off yourself. Mine has never cut out on me, and I have had it going for a while while I was trying to get my keys sorted out. So I would say you are good to go for your nightly walks.
I’ve put mine through quite a few synthetics and never had it slow down once. Maybe yours is just getting tired?
I’m the opposite, I actually like that there’s no timer. I keep mine in the living room and it’s become part of my evening routine. When I’m done watching TV or whatever, I just pull it out of the outlet and move it to the shelf. It’s not a big hassle for me because I’m already standing up to leave the room anyway.
My main concern was forgetting it overnight too, but I’ve gotten into the habit of only plugging it in when I’m actually sitting down in that room. So it’s more like a conscious choice each time rather than just leaving it running. I can see how that would be annoying for someone who wants to set it and forget it for a few hours, but for the way I use it, no timer is fine.
I think people are hoping these ultrasonic things will be some kind of wildlife fence, and they’re just not. Squirrels are too food-driven to care about a noise once they know the feeder is up there. The cats are probably just easier to startle, honestly. I would leave it where its working and not expect it to guard the birdseed.
I’ve had a completely different experience with mine on glass. It stayed uniform the whole time, even when I was moving the spray across the pane pretty quickly. I had the nozzle on the wider setting and still didn’t get much bounce-back or mist on the frames. Maybe I just got lucky with my water pressure that day, but I wouldn’t expect a mess.
The window thing gets treated like some hard rule, but honestly the bigger factor is just what direction your local towers are sitting in relation to your building. I have mine set up on a low entertainment center that’s basically in the middle of my place, and the only thing near it is a fish tank. Still pulled in a decent handful of channels after a scan, including the main networks which is all I really wanted.
The thing that helped me more than anything was just re-scanning at different times of day. Morning scan gave me one set, evening scan gave me a couple extra channels that came in clearer. It’s a bit of fiddling but it’s a one time thing.
For the price it’s not like you’re gambling a ton of money. If it doesn’t work you’re out less than a pizza. But I would not assume it’s dead on arrival just because you’re not near glass.
I think the tap water thing gets overblown sometimes. The UV light doesn’t really care where the water came from, it just does its thing to whatever is in the bottle. I’ve filled mine from all sorts of places, kitchen sink, bathroom taps at work, even a weird outdoor fountain once when I forgot my bottle at home and bought a cheap one instead. Never had an issue.
The way I see it, the bottle is more about keeping itself clean than turning regular water into something fancy. If you’re already fine drinking your tap water straight from the glass, then putting it in this bottle isn’t going to change anything except maybe making sure the bottle doesn’t get funky after a few days of use. That’s mostly what I bought it for anyway, not because I was worried about my sink water.
I think it really depends on the kind of noise more than the volume, if that makes sense. I tried mine in a busy food court once, not an airport, but it was that same kind of chaotic mix of people talking over each other and chairs scraping and plates clattering. The noise reduction definitely toned down the general rumble, but it didn’t do much for sudden sharp sounds. Like, someone dropping a tray right next to me still came through and seemed to trip up the translation for a second.
The bigger issue for me was that I had to speak a bit louder and slower than I normally would, and even then I felt like I was over-enunciating like an idiot. It worked, don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t effortless. I guess I’d say the noise reduction helps enough to make it usable, but it won’t make a loud place feel quiet. If you’re expecting it to cancel everything out, you might be disappointed.
