Nah I don’t have that issue since it’s just me using mine, but I can see why it’d be annoying. If the weights are that close I’d just check the app after weighing and move it to the right profile if it guesses wrong. Takes two seconds and beats trusting the auto-detect to get it right every time.
I switched from one of those older travel routers to the Ryoko Pro a few months back. The auto network thing is fine, but the real difference for me is just not having to think about it. With the old one, I’d land somewhere and spend ten minutes trying to remember which carrier was decent in that specific country. Now I just turn it on and it connects. Maybe it’s not picking the absolute fastest network every single time, but it’s good enough that I stopped checking.
I’m not someone who’s going to sit there and compare speeds or anything. I just want my laptop to work when I’m sitting in a hotel lobby. And it does. The old router worked too, but only after I messed with it. This one just goes. That’s the whole win for me.
I think you pretty much need the phone for the live view. Without it you can still fly around and probably record to the drone, but you won’t see what the camera sees until you pull the footage. I’d just get used to having the app open every time.
I’d say the compatibility talk is more straightforward than people make it. If your chain is a common pitch, it’ll fit. Mine’s a Stihl and it worked fine, but I’ve also got an older saw with a weird chain and I didn’t even bother trying it on that one. Just check the numbers on the bar before you order.
It is pretty normal for that stuff. The foaming is what clears the pipes, so if it climbs high it means it’s working. I just make sure to pour the hot water slowly next time, that seems to keep the foam from reaching the overflow.
I gave up on the bucket method pretty fast. The suction is fine when the bucket is full, but as soon as the water level drops, it starts sputtering and you’re playing games with it. I just use it near a faucet now. For a whole car, I think you’d be annoyed by the constant topping off.
I actually think the pause is a feature, not a bug. It gives you a second to process what was said before you reply. I’ve had way more natural conversations with mine than I expected, mostly because I stopped trying to rush it. You kind of find a rhythm after a while.
I’ve had mine for about four months now, used it on a couple of trips and even some weekends at a cabin with no wifi. I swapped the included SIM out after the first week just to see if it would work with my regular carrier’s data plan, and it did. No weird locks or anything. It just recognized the card and connected like a normal hotspot.
That said, I ended up putting the Ryoko SIM back in because their plan was actually cheaper for the amount of data I needed while traveling. But it’s nice to know I have the option to switch if I ever want to. The slot itself is just a standard nano SIM slot under the battery cover, nothing proprietary about it.
One thing I noticed is that when I used my own SIM, some of the features in the app like the data saver and ad blocker still worked fine. So it’s not like they cripple the device if you’re not using their card. I think they just include the SIM as a convenience so you can activate it out of the box without having to hunt down a local carrier.
The manual says near the breaker box, but honestly I think it matters less than people make it out to be. I have mine plugged in on the second floor and it still shows the green light and does its thing. The way I see it, the unit works on the whole circuit anyway, not just the outlet it’s sitting in.
I get what you mean about the coverage thing. The panel definitely hits a bigger surface, no argument there. But for me the mask kind of makes up for it because I actually do the full session instead of cutting it short. With the panel I’d sometimes prop it up and walk away or get distracted and lose track of time. The mask forces me to sit still for 10 minutes, which sounds dumb but it makes the sessions more consistent.
I have noticed I need to be patient with the mask though. It took a few weeks before I saw anything, and even then it was subtle, like my skin just looked less blah in the morning. I do think the mask targets the face more evenly since it’s curved around everything, whereas my old panel had hot spots depending on how I angled it.
I would not say one is clearly better, just different routines really.
