My mom is 81 and has mild arthritis in her hands. She switched to the TrimZa a few months ago and it’s been way less of a fight than the old clippers. She can just rest it on the nail and press the button instead of squeezing. Might be worth a try for your mom.
I’ve actually tested this a bit out of laziness, because I keep the remote on my nightstand and sometimes want to bump the temp before I’ve even gotten out of bed. Mine reaches through one interior wall no problem, and that wall has a closet built into it so it’s not exactly thin. But once I go around the corner into the kitchen, it’s hit or miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes I have to step back toward the hallway. I think it just depends on how much stuff is in the way, not really the distance itself. I’ve never had it fail from right outside the door though, so if you’re just popping into the hallway it should be fine. From the living room it’s honestly a toss up in my place.
I actually wear mine while typing all the time and it hasn’t gotten in the way at all. The strap stays put for me, which seems to be the opposite of what some folks here are saying. Maybe it depends on how you adjust it.
I keep mine in my back pocket too and the thing I noticed is it’s less about heat or pressure and more about what’s between the card and whatever you’re trying to protect. When I first got mine I just tossed it in loose with my cards and it was kind of hit or miss, but once I actually sandwiched it right against the stack in the wallet it started working way more consistently. Sitting on it hasn’t really done anything to mine, it’s still flat after probably four or five months of daily use. My only real complaint is my wallet got noticeably thicker with it in there, which sounds dumb but it’s true. Still keeping it back there though since it hasn’t caused any actual problems.
I think it’s just the nature of the thing. Mine has been plugged in for a few months now and it’s always slightly warm when I happen to touch it, especially if it’s been on for a while. It’s never gotten any warmer than that, so I just assume it’s doing its thing.
Mine got left out overnight after a light drizzle once, not exactly the same as a drop but close enough. It was fine the next morning, but honestly I treat it like something that can break if I’m careless. I wouldn’t go out of my way to test it, but a single grass drop probably won’t be the thing that kills it.
I’d still try it on older chains, but I wouldn’t expect magic. I have one chain that’s got some years on it and the Klampero brought it back to a usable edge, which was all I wanted. If the chain is still solid and just dull, I say go for it.
Honestly the refill thing caught me off guard at first too, but I got used to it after a week. I mostly use mine without the mist unless I’m really warm, so I only fill it maybe once a day. The mist is nice but I treat it like a bonus feature, not the main event.
The foaming is normal for this stuff. My bathroom sink used to clog up every few weeks and the first time I used SavingStars I thought I poured in way too much because of all the bubbles. It settled down after a few minutes and the drain was noticeably faster after I flushed it. The foam is doing the work, not just for show.
I think a lot of it comes down to how still the air is around your desk. Mine works best when it’s close enough that I can feel it without having to lean in, but the real difference for me was that it just doesn’t do much if I’m sitting in the path of the office AC vent. Once I moved it out of that draft, it felt way stronger even at the same distance.
Honestly I’d just leave it. Mine does that maybe once a month where I’ll get in and it just sits there looking at me until I pull out my phone and force it to remember. It’s annoying but it takes like ten seconds and then it’s fine for weeks again. I stopped trying to figure out why it happens because there’s no pattern to it. Some days it connects before I even put my seatbelt on, other days it acts like we never met.
If it’s still showing up in your Bluetooth list and all you have to do is tap it, I wouldn’t even call that forgetting. That’s just a lazy connection. I’d only start worrying if it made you go through the whole pairing process from scratch every time. That would drive me up the wall. Once in a blue moon though, I can live with it.
I think people overestimate the fogging issue with this thing. I was worried about that too before I got mine, but the steam is so hot it basically evaporates on contact with the glass. I’ve used it on my bathroom mirror plenty of times and it comes out clear, I just have to give it a quick wipe after.
I actually think people overthink the placement thing. I’ve got mine wedged between my dresser and the wall and it’s been running almost every night for two months with zero issues. The cord reaches fine, but I also wasn’t trying to put it across the room. Just stick it wherever you actually want it and move on.
I’ve had mine since early summer and I honestly don’t think it’s built for streak-free glass. I use it for the driveway and the patio furniture mostly, and it’s great for that. But the few times I tried it on the greenhouse panes out back, I noticed the same kind of filmy haze you’re describing. It’s not terrible, but it’s definitely not the same as when I just use the hose with a regular spray nozzle and let the water run off naturally.
I think part of it is that the concentrated jet is so narrow that it almost pushes the dirt around instead of washing it clean off in one go. On textured surfaces you don’t notice that, but on glass you see every little streak. I also found that if the water is even slightly hard, the film gets worse as it dries.
I’ve just stopped using it on windows altogether. It’s not worth the extra fiddling when a plain hose does the job better for that specific thing. I keep it for the stuff it actually handles well, like caked-on mud on the patio slabs or the car wheels. For windows, I’ll stick with the old method. You’re not doing anything wrong, it’s just not the right tool for that surface.
I keep a stash of frozen water bottles in my freezer and swap them in when I remember, but honestly the days I skip it are totally fine too. The ice gives you that nice cold punch for a bit, but the mister still does its job without it. I wouldn’t stress about keeping up with ice packs unless you’re sitting right next to it and want that extra chill.
I’d say it does more than paint transfer, but the word “scratch” is doing a lot of heavy lifting. I had a few really fine lines on my door from someone’s jacket zipper, barely caught the light. NuraFix made them basically invisible after a couple of passes. But those were just clear coat hairlines. Anything you can feel with your fingernail is a different story.
The product is basically a fine polish with some filling action. It’s not magic. If the scratch has any actual depth to it, you’re just going to smooth the edges a bit and maybe make it less obvious. It won’t lift the paint back up.
I think the trick is to not expect it to erase anything. If you buff and the scratch is still there but you have to look for it, that’s a win. If you can still catch it with a nail, that’s a body shop job. So for light scratches, give it a shot. Just don’t expect it to disappear completely if it’s more than a surface mark.
Mine fogged a little the first time I used it at the lake, but I noticed it was right after I had the case closed up in my bag for like an hour before I got in. Once I started opening it up and letting it air out before I sealed it, I haven’t had any issues at all.
That’s pretty much how it behaves, yeah. First time I used it I thought I’d somehow poured in the whole box by accident, but it was just the reaction doing its thing. It does die down after a few minutes, so as long as it’s not spilling over the edge you’re probably fine.
I keep mine on medium all night and honestly the fan noise is what I like most, it drowns out street sounds. The cooling part is whatever, but the air movement makes the room feel less stuffy. I tried low once and felt like it was barely doing anything, so medium seems like the sweet spot for me.
I have a pair of slightly thicker joggers I wear them under and they disappear. With jeans they’re fine too, just make sure you don’t have them too tight around the thigh or you’ll feel the strap edges after a few hours. I wouldn’t say it’s bulky, more like a firm sleeve.
Honestly, I think it would probably be fine. I’ve had mine on a dog around that weight and it wasn’t a struggle to get a good fit. I’d just try it and see, you can always return it if it feels off.
Honestly the pouch is more of a “forget it exists” thing for me. I used to go through spray bottles way too fast and it got annoying. I just toss a couple of these around and don’t really think about it for a few weeks. The smell is nice, too, not like a cleaning product or anything.
For me it’s more about the ear tips than the weight. I swapped to a slightly smaller size and now I can wear them for hours without even thinking about it.
