I tried it on the lowest setting and the hum didn’t bother me, but the heat cycling on and off through the night was more noticeable than the fan itself. If you’re sensitive to temperature changes waking you up, that might be the bigger issue.
Mine was weird in a different way. First few nights I kept waking up because the shape felt like it was pushing against my jaw or something. But the neck stiffness I normally had in the mornings was gone from day one, so I stuck with it. Took maybe a week before I stopped noticing the shape entirely.
Older machines are exactly where I’d be careful. The mounting plate is standard, sure, but “standard” doesn’t mean much when the shaft or the locking hole is worn out after a decade of use. I tried one of these steel heads on a 20 year old Ryobi and the plate fit fine, but it kept working itself loose because the threads on the old trimmer just weren’t gripping like they should. Had to keep stopping to tighten it. Ended up putting the nylon head back on.
If your cutter is old enough that the original parts are getting hard to find, I’d check the actual spindle condition before ordering anything. Everything looks fine on paper until you bolt it on. Not saying it won’t work, but don’t assume the product page’s “standard” covers machines that have seen serious use.
If it actually filtered surges, they’d be selling it as a full surge protector, not an energy saver.
I would say the vibration mode works fine for pulling, but it depends on your dog’s threshold. My lab mix needed the higher settings before she actually listened. The beep did nothing for her, but once she felt the vibration she backed off pretty quick. It didn’t fix the pulling overnight, but it gave me something to work with.
It’s a trade-off. The radiator keeps the room warm after it cycles off, but it takes forever to get going. This thing is the opposite. You park it next to you and you feel it almost right away, but the second you move across the room the warmth is gone. If you’re just trying to keep one spot warm while you sit still, it works.
Depends what you mean by “different sizes.” If you’re talking about jumping between 3/8 and .325, it’ll handle both, but the way it sits on the tooth changes and you have to re-align it every time. If you’ve got some oddball pitch, I wouldn’t count on it.
I’d skip it if limescale is your main reason. I got one mostly for the chlorine smell and my skin, and that part was fine. But the limescale thing? I never saw any real change on my shower head or the tiles. The white buildup still showed up just like before.
It does make the water feel softer, I’ll give it that. But that’s a different thing from actually stopping limescale. If you’re expecting less scrubbing around the bathroom, you’ll probably be disappointed. For the price, I’d treat it as a filter that makes the water nicer to shower in, not a solution for hard water buildup. If that’s all you need, it’s okay. If you want actual limescale control, you’d be better off looking into a water softener or something bigger.
The 30 hour claim probably assumes they sit in the case most of the day. If you’re actually wearing them for hours at a time, I’d plan on charging every couple of days. I just toss mine on the charger when I take them out for the night, so it’s never been an issue.
I’d just charge it before messing with it. Even if it has some juice out of the box, you don’t want it dying halfway through a cycle when you’re actually relying on it. Plugging it in while you read the manual or wash the bottle once takes no extra effort.
Cold water might help a little but honestly I think people are overthinking it. I tried it once and the difference was so minor I couldn’t really tell if it was the water or just the fan speed. Room temp is fine, the thing works off evaporation anyway.
