I run mine overnight too, mostly because that’s when I actually hear scratching and stuff. During the day I leave it off sometimes just out of habit. Haven’t noticed any difference in how well it works, but I don’t have a crazy bug problem either.
The date thing confuses me too, I just wrote the plug-in date on a piece of tape on the back of mine. The self test mainly checks the alarm and electronics as far as I know, not really whether the gas sensor itself has gone weak. So counting from first use is probably the safer bet.
Mine doesn’t really do anything for my upper back, but I also don’t think it’s meant to. It’s a neck and shoulder thing, so when it slips down I just adjust it back up instead of trying to make it work lower.
I still keep my old metal pick in the drawer for the really stubborn bits. The DappSmile is nicer in hand and I like not having to press as hard, but I reach for whichever one is closer. Not exactly a scientific comparison.
I’ve had mine in a low outlet for months and it’s been fine. The basement isn’t super packed though, so there’s not much blocking the sound. I think if you’ve got open space down there, the height really doesn’t matter much.
I got mine a few weeks ago and the pairing has been pretty painless for me. I mostly use them with my tablet for watching stuff and my phone for calls, and they just switch over when I pick whichever device I need. No forgetting or re-pairing drama so far, which is more than I can say for some other earbuds I’ve owned.

The instructions on most heaters say to plug them straight into the wall, but honestly, in my old place the only outlet near my desk was behind a bookshelf, so I used a heavy duty extension cord for the whole winter. It never gave me any trouble, but I also made sure the cord wasn’t coiled up and wasn’t sharing the outlet with anything big. If your setup makes it awkward, just check the cord rating before you commit.
We’ve had a similar worry about using them on breezy days, but honestly my experience has been that the outdoor mode does a decent job with voices even when there’s a bit of wind. It’s not like the noise disappears completely, but it doesn’t drown everything out either. If your dad is mainly in a park, I’d say the breeze is more of a minor annoyance than a dealbreaker.

I think the biggest thing is that it really depends on how many Apple devices are just passing by. In a busy area it’s snappy, but in a quieter neighborhood it can sit there for a bit before updating. Not a dealbreaker for me since I mainly use it for the “left behind” alerts and the sound when I’m digging around the couch, but I wouldn’t count on it for super precise real-time tracking if you’re in a hurry.
I think it’s pretty common for cameras like this to come without a card, which is honestly a bit annoying when you’re excited to test it out. But there is a silver lining, you can grab a decent sized one for pretty cheap these days. I’d just factor that into the price and move on, it’s not worth stressing over.
I had the opposite experience honestly. Used it for a couple weeks on my coffee stains and barely noticed anything different. The vibration feels strong but it really just seemed to skim the surface. I ended up going back to my regular routine and saving for a polish at the dentist instead.
I just swap mine when the water starts feeling like it’s not doing anything anymore. I know that sounds vague, but I can tell when my skin gets that tight feeling again after a shower. Probably around the 4 month mark for me, but I’m not exactly keeping track.
For me it was somewhere in between. I didn’t hate it the first night but I also didn’t love it. It just felt like there was a lot of pillow under me in places I wasn’t used to having pillow. I think I spent the first couple of nights sort of shifting around trying to find where my head was supposed to go. Around night three or four I stopped thinking about it and now I don’t really notice the shape at all, which I guess means it’s working.
The morning after the first night I did notice that my neck wasn’t as sore as it usually is, but I wasn’t sure if that was the pillow or just a good night. I still can’t tell if I’m using it the “right” way, but I wake up fine and that’s honestly all I care about at this point.
Mine gets warm too, but I honestly never thought twice about it. I wear mine around the house and while running errands, and it’s never bothered me enough to stop using it. It just feels like normal body heat building up under any kind of brace, not something weird.
I get the concern about the couch blocking it, but I think you’re fine leaving things where they are. I have mine in the hallway near a bunch of stuff and it still seems to do its job. Honestly, the sound goes around corners in my experience, so I wouldnt stress about moving furniture.
I put mine on a folded towel once and the numbers were all over the place, so I just stick to the tile now.
I only use strong mode when I can feel the rough spots with my tongue and normal mode just isn’t cutting it. For me it’s more about the situation than a set schedule, and I switch back as soon as it feels done. I would not want it as my go-to every day, but I think it’s fine to use fairly often if you’re not overdoing it.
I never really pushed mine through a full day of constant talking, but I do remember one long museum day where I kept pulling it out every few exhibits to ask stuff. It made it until dinner time before I got the low battery warning. I’d still bring a power bank if you’re planning to be out from morning to night, just to be safe.
I guess it depends on what you expect from it. I have a small room too and I use it more for the white noise and air movement than anything else. The cooling is subtle for me, but the breeze itself is enough to make sleeping comfortable. I wouldn’t rely on it to actually drop the temperature much.
I think it’s probably the same as any heater in that regard. Mine has been running in the guest room for a bit and I haven’t really paid much attention to how my skin feels, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s a little drier than usual. It’s just one of those things I guess.
