MemberThinking about grabbing a Dustaclean but I’m curious if it actually fits in a glove box. I keep my car pretty clean but there’s always crumbs and dust building up in the cup holders and seats. Would be nice to just stash it in the car and not worry about hauling out the big vacuum. Does it really fit in those tight spaces or is that just marketing talk?

MemberFits fine in my glove box but honestly it’s the cup holders where it earns its keep. Crumbs from crackers and kid snacks pile up down there and it sucks them out in seconds. Just don’t expect it to replace a real vacuum for the floor mats.

Nina_gadgetMemberLooks small enough to stash in there without eating all the space.

MemberMine takes up less room than I expected, but I mostly leave it in the house and just carry it out to the car when I need it. Stashing it in the glove box permanently would eat into space I actually use for actual glove box stuff.

JSmithParticipantI tried fitting one in my glove box and it ate up more room than I liked, so it lives in the door pocket now. Works fine there.

Emma__LMemberI have one and it does fit in the glove box, though it’s snug in my car since that space is already full of junk. I usually keep it in there and pull it out for a quick pass on the mats and seats, and it’s handy not dragging out the big vacuum for a few crumbs. It’s not going to deep clean anything, but for little messes it does the job.

RyanTParticipantMine didn’t stay in the glove box for long. It technically fits but the cable and nozzle take up more room than I wanted, so it ended up in the center console instead. Still handy to have in the car though.

MemberI’d say the glove box claim is plausible but depends a lot on your car. My glove box is already stuffed with the manual, insurance papers, and a couple of random cables, so something like this would probably fit but not leave much breathing room. I haven’t used a Dustaclean myself, but from what I’ve seen of similar handheld vacs, the body is usually small enough to stash somewhere. The awkward part tends to be the attachments and charging cable, since those don’t always pack as neatly as the unit itself. If you’re mainly dealing with crumbs in the cup holders and seats, keeping it in the car sounds convenient, but you might end up using a door pocket or center console instead of the glove box. I’d just check the return policy in case it’s bulkier in person than it looks online.

MemberI’ve had one rattling around in my car for a few months now and it lives in the little cubby under the center console rather than the glove box. Not because it didn’t fit, more that my glove box is basically a paper shredder for receipts and I didn’t want to bury it. It’s about the size of a large coffee mug, so I’d say it fits in most glove boxes unless yours is already packed like a clown car. The bit that actually matters for me is having it within reach when I’m parked and spot crumbs on the seat, which is way easier than dragging out the big vac and fighting the cord. It won’t replace a proper clean, but for cup holders and floor mats it does the job fine. Mine’s been in there since spring and I haven’t had to move it once, so the storage claim holds up in my experience.

MemberFitting is one thing, actually being able to grab it when a cup holder has crumbs in it is another. A glove box is usually packed with stuff you need, so squeezing a vacuum in there seems like a tradeoff I wouldn’t bother with.

MemberThe glove box thing is possible but it isn’t the magic trick some people make it out to be. I keep mine in the little tray behind the gear shifter most of the time because it’s just easier to reach when I actually need it. Fitting in the glove box is one thing, getting it out from under a pile of napkins and the owner’s manual is another story. What I mainly care about is that it’s small enough to live in the car at all, which it is. I’ve used it a few times on crumbs around the seats and it does the job fine for a quick cleanup. The small nozzle is the part I end up using most since it gets into the seat gaps without much fuss. It’s not going to replace a proper vacuum for a full clean, but for keeping on top of little messes between washes it’s been handy to just have sitting there.

L_ParkerMemberI don’t buy the glove box thing. Mine lives in the door pocket because cramming it in there means fighting the latch every time. It’s small, sure, but the shape doesn’t play nice with a box that’s already half full.

MemberFair enough, I’ll just try one and see where it ends up.
