I’d just buy a card ahead of time. Most budget action cams ship without one, so you might be stuck staring at a full manual until the mail runs again. Pick up a decent 64GB card and you’re set. I wouldn’t count on the box having one.
Honestly I think it depends on how bad the headlights are. Mine were more just cloudy than scratched and I gave it a shot. It cleaned them up a bit but they never looked truly clear like a real restore kit would. I’d only use it as a quick fix if you’re not expecting much.
It works regardless of where it sits in the wallet. I wouldn’t overthink the placement, the whole point is that it blocks the field around the cards. I have mine just loose in the main pocket and haven’t had any issues with accidental scans.
Good to know it’s not just me. I was half expecting the same delay as my old one, but it’s been fine so far. Probably depends on the wifi like someone said, but I’ll take it.
It’ll do something for light scratches, but don’t expect miracles. I tried it on a few shallow ones and it made them less noticeable, but they didn’t fully disappear like the scuff did. If you can catch it with your fingernail, it’s probably not going to cut it.
The heat was my first thought too, but honestly the bigger issue for me was placement. Once it’s on there, it’s on there. I moved my TV to a different stand a couple months after putting mine on and getting it off without wrecking the sticker was a pain. So just be sure you actually want it on that specific TV for a while.
I had the opposite experience, honestly. I bought it mostly for yard work and long walks, but tried it under a pair of looser work trousers once. It wasn’t awful, but I could definitely feel the straps digging in a bit by the end of the day. Not a visibility thing, more of a pressure thing. The silicone grips also caught on the fabric of my pants a little when I sat down, which was annoying. I think it depends a lot on how you adjust it, but I wouldn’t call it invisible. It’s fine for what it is, but I wouldn’t want to wear it for a full office day. I mainly stick to wearing it with sweatpants or shorts now. Maybe I just didn’t find the right strap setting, but for me it’s not a daily errands kind of brace.
I’ve seen a few people say they last months, but mine gave up way sooner than that. I was using mine every other weekend on my truck, mostly door dings and some scuffs from the garage. Somewhere around the six week mark it just stopped biting into the scratches. The cloth still looked fine, no visible wear, but the scratches stayed exactly where they were no matter how long I rubbed.
I think it’s the nano stuff on the surface that wears off, not the cloth itself. So the fabric can look okay but the working part is gone. That’s the trap with these. You keep going because it looks fine, but it’s basically just a regular microfiber cloth at that point.
I’d say if you’re a few weeks in and it’s still doing the job, you’re probably fine for now. But don’t expect a clear sign. For me it was just a sudden drop in results, not a gradual fade.
Mine have been the opposite, actually. I’ve only had them for about three weeks, but the app connects on the first try every time so far. I do make sure the earbuds are out of the case before I open the app, though. One time I opened it while they were still charging and it said no device, so I could see how someone might run into that if they’re not paying attention.
I also noticed that if I switch between my phone and my laptop during the day, the app gets a little confused. That’s more of a Bluetooth thing than a Talkbuds thing though, in my experience. Every pair of earbuds I’ve owned does that.
What phone are you using? I’ve got an Android and I wonder if that makes a difference. My friend has the same earbuds with an iPhone and she’s mentioned the app being slow to recognize them, but she also never closes apps on her phone, so who knows.
I’d say if toggling Bluetooth fixes it, it’s probably just the usual Bluetooth handshake being finicky. The app itself seems fine once it actually finds the earbuds. It’s not like it drops the connection mid-translation or anything, at least not for me.
I’ve actually had the opposite experience with the zoom on mine. I got it mostly for checking what’s moving around the treeline behind my property, and I’ve pushed it to 4x or 5x more than a few times. It’s not like you’re getting a crystal clear photo, but for just confirming something is a deer and not a person, it works better than people give it credit for.
The thing is, if you’re already using the IR and you’re at a reasonable distance, the digital zoom is just magnifying what the sensor already picked up. I’ve spotted raccoons and coyotes at maybe 40 or 50 feet and could tell what they were doing, not just that something was there. At max zoom it does get soft around the edges, but the center of the image stays usable enough to tell what you’re looking at.
What I’ve noticed is that the zoom feels more useful when you’re already locked onto something. Trying to scan around at high zoom is miserable, you lose your bearings and everything shakes. But if you spot something at 1x, then zoom in on it, it’s fine. That’s how I use it anyway.
I think a lot of the “digital zoom is useless” talk comes from people expecting it to act like a proper optical scope. It doesn’t. But for casual observation where you just need to identify something in the dark, it does what it needs to do. I wouldn’t call it a gimmick, but I also wouldn’t rely on it for anything where you need to see fine details.
I think the remote range on these wall units is just kind of like that. Mine works from across the room but only if I don’t have anything blocking the line of sight, like a chair back or even my own body half in the way. Not totally sure if it’s a flaw or just how the sensor is positioned on the unit. I wouldn’t worry about it too much unless you need to control it from another room.
