My gums have been a bit sensitive lately, especially when brushing. I’m considering the Nunawave Oral Care Pro but I’m not sure if it’s actually meant for that. Does it make a difference for sensitivity or is it more for general gum health? I don’t want to waste money if it’s not going to help.

Mine came with a little tray to keep it clean which I didn’t expect. Sensitivity wise it’s done more for my gums feeling less tender overall than fixing the sharp zings when I bite into something cold. So depends what kind of sensitivity you mean.

Sensitivity from brushing is usually a sign your enamel or roots are involved, so a red light device is not really targeting that. The Nunawave is more about the gum tissue itself. I have used mine for a few months and it made my gums feel less irritated overall, but it did not fix the sharp feeling when I hit a certain spot near my canine. That part needed a sensitive toothpaste and a softer brush. So if your issue is mostly gum tenderness, it might help. If it is more of a zing on the tooth itself, I would not expect this to be the thing that solves it. Still glad I have mine for general gum care though.

Mine actually did help with the brushing sensitivity, but not overnight. Took a few weeks of using it most nights before I noticed I wasn’t bracing myself at the sink anymore. The marketing is a bit much, but it’s not pure nonsense either.

I’d probably figure out what’s causing the sensitivity first before buying anything. I had that brushing twinge for a while and it turned out to be from brushing too hard with a medium bristle brush, not my gums themselves. Switched to soft and it settled down in a couple weeks. So if the source is enamel or recession, a mouthguard type thing isn’t really aimed at that. If it’s more that your gums just feel tender or puffy, then something like this might be more in the right ballpark. I haven’t tried the Nunawave so I can’t say how it performs, but the description leans toward gum care and inflammation rather than fixing sensitivity at the root. Might be worth asking your dentist what’s actually going on before spending on it.

It’s more of a gum health thing in my experience. Mine helped with overall tenderness but the sharp brushing twinge was still there until I switched to a soft brush. So if sensitivity is the main issue I wouldn’t count on it alone.

Mine’s still sitting in the drawer mostly because I kept forgetting to charge it, so I can’t speak to the sensitivity part. But the tray thing is real, it does keep the mouthguard from getting gross between uses. I’d honestly just ask your dentist if the twinge is a gum issue or an enamel issue before dropping the cash.

I don’t think it’s really built for the sensitivity part. Gum tenderness maybe, but the brushing twinge is usually a different thing entirely. I’d put that money toward figuring out the actual cause first.

I’d push back a bit on the idea that you need to figure out the cause before buying anything. That sounds sensible but in practice you can spend months guessing. Sensitive gums can come from a bunch of stuff and a dentist visit is the only way to actually know, but a lot of people just live with it and adjust their routine.

For what it’s worth, the Nunawave is listed for sensitive gums so it’s not like you’d be using it off label or something. Whether it does much for that specific brushing twinge is a different question, and I don’t think anyone here can really promise that. Red light stuff seems to be more about calming things down over time than fixing a sharp pain in one spot.

If the sensitivity is mild and mostly annoying, I’d say it’s worth a shot. If it’s actually painful or getting worse, that’s a dentist thing regardless of what device you buy.

Alright, that gives me enough to go on. I was mostly trying to figure out if it’s even the right category of thing for brushing sensitivity, and it sounds like it’s not really. Probably going to hold off for now and look at other options first.
