I’m still waiting on mine to arrive, so this thread is actually super helpful for me. My yard has a similar setup with a few trees and a shed, so I was wondering the same thing about whether the signal cuts out. Good to know it might hold up better than the box suggests.
I mostly want one because my plastic board always smells faintly like onion no matter what I do. Chicken juice sitting on something non porous sounds way less gross to deal with.
The cord really isn’t a big deal in my experience, it just kind of stays put once you run it along the floor. I honestly forget it’s even there most days. Socks vs barefoot I can’t speak to since I only use mine barefoot, but the cord concern seems a bit overblown.
I haven’t used the Pro Capture specifically, but I’ve got a similar little action cam and I run into the same thing on my morning rides. Bright sky, dark shadows under trees, and the camera just picks one and rolls with it. Mine tends to favor the bright areas, so anything in shade goes muddy. From what I’ve gathered, that’s just kind of how these small sensors behave. They don’t have the range to hold both at once. I messed with exposure settings on mine for a while but honestly it just shifted the problem around instead of fixing it. Now I mostly leave it on auto and accept that shadowy sections will look darker. The footage is still plenty watchable for casual riding clips.
I’d probably keep the subscription just for the ID feature. Half the fun for me is seeing the name pop up while I’m doing something else, and I know I’d never bother looking them up afterward. Different strokes though.
That’s a bummer it didn’t come with anything. I was looking at these for my dad and figured they’d at least toss in a soft cloth bag or something for that price. A lot of companies skip the extras to keep costs down, but it would have been nice to have a basic sleeve to stop them getting scratched up in the car.
It’s not just you. I found the same thing when I first got mine, especially if I was sitting in a low chair or on the couch for a long time. It sort of settles in a weird spot after a while. I loosened the bottom strap just a little and that helped a lot without making it slide around when I stand up.
Honestly I think it depends on how much you trust your wiring more than anything. I’ve got mine plugged into one of those thicker surge protector strips and it’s been fine for a while now, but I also check the cord to see if it feels warm before I turn it on. If it ever felt hot I’d move it to the wall immediately.
I actually found it easier to adjust to than I expected. The shape is a little different since it covers more of the gum line, but it didn’t feel bulky or annoying after the first night or two. I’d say it’s more noticeable than a basic guard at first, but not in a bad way. Once I stopped thinking about it, it was fine.
I actually noticed the same thing when I first got mine and it threw me off for a second. But I think it’s just how the surface reacts to plain water. Once it dries completely the tacky feeling goes away and it feels normal again. For me it only shows up if I rinse and dry it with a towel and then immediately try to use it. If I just let it sit out for a few minutes after rinsing it’s totally fine.
What I started doing is rinsing it right after I finish prepping and then leaving it in the drying rack while I plate or do whatever else. By the time I come back to put it away it’s dry and not sticky at all. It hasn’t affected anything I’ve cut on it and I honestly forget about it now. I’d say it’s just one of those quirks with the material.
Our cat is the one that hangs around ours the most and she has never even blinked at it. The zap is loud enough that I notice it from across the room sometimes, but the pets just don’t seem to register it as anything threatening. I would probably just keep an eye on her for the first day or two and see how she reacts.
I think it just runs until you unplug it, sadly. I checked mine a couple of nights ago and there’s no timer button or anything like that on it. I’ve just been making a habit of switching it off at the wall before I leave the room, just in case.
I tend to use mine when the grates are warm but not fresh off the flames. Like, I’ll finish eating, let the grill sit while I bring stuff inside, and by the time I get back out there it’s cooled down enough to handle but still has some warmth in it. That seems to be the sweet spot for me because the grease hasn’t re-hardened into that stubborn crust yet.
I did try it once when the grate was still pretty hot and honestly the brush worked fine, no melting or anything scary. But the heat radiating off the grill made it uncomfortable to stand there with the handle, and I felt like I was rushing through it. Now I just use that time to clear plates and then hit the grill right after.
I was worried about the same thing when I ordered it. It’s not like those bulky night guards my dentist made me, but you do know it’s there. For me the flexible part makes it bearable, but I can see how someone with a smaller mouth might find it annoying after ten minutes.
I’d say try it on the dash first before buying anything extra. I’ve seen these mounts hold up on way rougher surfaces than a little texture, and the suction cup on this one is pretty strong out of the box. If it doesn’t grab, then sure, look at other options, but I wouldn’t assume it’ll fail.
I wouldn’t count on it fully. I tried the offline mode once when I was in a dead zone and it worked for basic phrases but the app itself kept trying to connect anyway. For a hiking trip I’d probably download what you can and maybe have a backup translation app on your phone just in case.
I keep going back and forth on this myself. The IP68 rating sounds reassuring on paper, but water and sensors just make me nervous. I’d probably still wear it in the pool if I had one, but I’d be checking the app like crazy afterward to make sure everything still worked.
I actually think it does more than people give it credit for. I run mine on medium with the ice pack in and my room stays noticeably less muggy through the night. It’s not going to freeze you out, but for a small space it pulls its weight.
I feel like a lot of it comes down to how you take them out. If you grab the actual bud part to pull them, you’re gonna trigger something every time. I’ve had mine for a few weeks and the only times I hit the controls by accident are when I’m in a hurry and just yank them out. When I take a second to grab the little stem or the edge, no issues. It’s not that they stop being sensitive, you just sort of adapt your fingers to where the sensors are. I actually think it’s kind of nice that they respond so easily, because I’ve had other cheap earbuds where you have to tap like five times before anything registers. That’s way more annoying to me. But yeah, if you’re someone who fiddles with your earbuds constantly, might take a bit longer to get used to.
I’ve been wondering the same thing actually. I don’t have one yet either, but from what I’ve seen in videos, it seems like the spinning head would handle the rough spots better than a regular brush. Just depends on how thick that layer is, I guess.
I noticed mine does that too, but for me it’s more noticeable when the room is already pretty cool. It’ll run for a bit, pause, then kick back in. I just figured it was regulating itself, so I stopped paying attention to it.
