I’d just leave it in all the time if I were you. Mine lives in the door and I plug it in when the light comes on, that’s the whole routine. No filters to mess with is honestly the best part for me.
I got a pair mostly for my commute and they’ve been great for daytime sun. The glare off other cars and windshields is way less annoying now. I wear them almost every sunny day.
I don’t really stress about hitting that exact number. Mine get me through my whole work week plus gym trips, and I just drop them back in the case each night. The case keeps them topped up so I barely think about it.
I actually think the “not portable” take is a bit harsh. I’ve had mine since spring and I move it around my apartment constantly, just not the way people usually mean.
My setup is kind of the opposite of what most folks here seem to do. Instead of carrying the CoolJet to wherever I am, I keep a couple of USB-C cables already plugged in around the place, one near the couch and one in the kitchen, and the unit just hops between them. Takes two seconds to unplug, carry it over, plug it back in. The water tank is the part that actually makes it feel portable to me because I can fill it up and get a good long stretch of use before I need to deal with anything. That part surprised me, I figured I’d be refilling it constantly.
The cable itself has never really bothered me. It’s one cord, not some big power brick situation, so it’s not like I’m dragging an extension cord around. I do wish the plug sat a little tighter though, mine wiggles a bit if I bump the table.
Anyway, for someone bouncing between rooms, I’d say it works fine as long as you’re okay plugging in each time. It’s not a carry-it-to-the-park thing, but around the house it’s been totally fine for me. Thanks for starting this thread, kind of nice to see other people’s setups.
I don’t think stop and go messes with the learning at all. Mine has been in for a couple months and I do mostly short city trips with tons of red lights, and it still picked up my habits fine. The traffic part is just part of what it learns, not something that confuses it.
I actually think translation mode could be fun for movies if you go in expecting a rough dub vibe. The delay people mention might even feel less distracting when you’re just relaxing on the couch instead of following a conversation. I’d say give it a try on a short show first and see how you feel.
We’ve had a septic tank for years and I’ve used SavingStars on our shower drain a couple times with no problems at all. The tank still does its thing and we haven’t had to call anyone out since. I just don’t dump it in every week, only when something’s actually draining slow.
I’d say try it before assuming it’ll dribble. Our well pressure is nothing special and the Jetterix still gave me enough to knock the dust and bugs off my car after a couple of passes. It’s not a pressure washer, but it’s way better than the open hose I was using before.
I think they just don’t include one, honestly. Mine came in the box with nothing extra and I didn’t think much of it since I keep them on my visor anyway. Definitely pick up a cheap soft pouch if you’re tossing them in the glovebox though, they seem like they’d scratch pretty easy.
I think it really comes down to how often it actually gets triggered. Mine is in a hallway that people walk through regularly and it made it through a day, but by the next morning it was pretty low. If your area is quieter, I could see it lasting longer, but I would probably charge it nightly if you want it recording all the time.
I swapped my old pull-down for a ScryneX a few months back and daylight performance is honestly the one area where I was a little let down. It’s not a gray-tinted screen, so you do lose some of that contrast in a bright room. With the curtains closed and a decent projector it’s fine, but if you’re used to that gray screen look, this will feel closer to a bright white surface.
I think there is something to the idea that just giving yourself a few minutes with your shoes off and your feet on something soft is relaxing, no matter what it’s made of. I’ve had mine for a couple of months though and I do sleep a little better on the nights I use it before bed, but that could also just be my routine changing. Hard to separate the two, honestly.
I think it does have some kind of shutoff, mine clicked off by itself after a few hours one afternoon.
The foaming caught me off guard at first too, but I actually think it’s the reason this stuff works better than the old powder I used to get. That quiet stuff just sat there and I always ended up having to plunge anyway.

I mean, the SD card is only for saving stuff, right? If you just want to look through it, the screen works fine on its own. I actually forgot mine at home once and used it all night just watching some deer in the field, no issues at all. You’ll be fine for your walks.
I have mine running in heating mode most of the day in my home office and I really haven’t noticed much difference from cooling. Maybe my unit is just different, but I can’t say the hum bothers me at all. I actually forget it’s on half the time.
I had the same worry when I put mine in our bonus room. That space has a vaulted ceiling that goes up maybe fifteen feet at the peak, so I was fully prepared for it to feel like it was doing nothing. But honestly it’s been fine for how we use the room. We’re not trying to keep the whole volume of air comfortable, we just want the area where we actually sit to feel decent, and it does that.
The thing that surprised me is that it doesn’t seem to matter as much as I thought it would. I think part of it is that the air moves along the floor and around where you are, not up into all that empty space above. So the tall ceiling just becomes kind of irrelevant after a while. I do keep it on a table rather than mounting it high, so maybe that helps, since it’s pushing air at the level where we’re sitting.
What I noticed is that it takes a little longer to feel a change than it would in a normal room, but once it gets there it stays consistent. It’s not like the heat vanishes the second it goes up. I run it while we’re watching TV and it keeps that whole seating area comfortable. The upper part of the room is always going to be cooler in winter, but nobody’s hanging out up there anyway.
I guess my take is that ceiling height matters less than what you’re expecting from it. If you want the entire tall space to feel the same, that’s probably asking too much. But for just making the living area comfortable, I would not let the ceilings stop you.
I’m actually going to be the odd one out here and say I found it a bit underwhelming in my bedroom. I know everyone’s saying it’s fine for a small room, but for me the airflow felt pretty narrow unless it was right next to the bed, and I ended up having to run it on high to really notice it. It’s quiet enough, but I just expected a little more movement in the air.
I picked one up for my Stihl and it’s been fine, but I definitely checked the numbers on my chain before ordering. The tool itself only works if the chain sits right in the guide, so it’s not a universal thing. If you’re running a really small trimmer chain, I’d measure first. I just stuck with the size I knew and it’s been a solid little sharpener for me.
