I actually had the opposite reaction to what a lot of people here seem to be saying. I borrowed a pair from my brother last fall for a two week stretch where I was driving my kid to early swim practice, so I was on the road around 7:15 every morning with the sun coming up right in front of me. I expected the glare thing to be the big deal but what actually got me was how much the contrast helped. Road markings and the edge of the lane just popped more, especially on that stretch of highway where the asphalt is really light colored and everything kind of washes out.
The sun in my eyes part was decent but not some dramatic fix. Like it took the edge off, sure, but I still squinted on the worst mornings. My brother swears by them though, he does a lot of highway driving for work and he won’t leave the house without them in the car. So I think a lot of it comes down to how sensitive you are and what your normal route looks like.
For me personally I’m still on the fence about buying my own pair. The contrast thing was the part I missed most after I gave them back, which I did not expect going in. If your main issue is just raw sun in your face at certain times of day, I’d say try a friend’s pair first if you can. Spending the money without knowing how your eyes handle it feels like a gamble.
I actually buy more spray now than before, not less. The steam is great for grout and tile, but I found myself going through more kitchen spray because I still use it after steaming greasy stuff.
I’d count from the date it first went into the outlet, not when you bought it. That’s what I did with mine, and it’s the only date I can actually point to later. The box not having an expiry date is annoying though, especially since “up to 5 years” could mean anything from 3 to 5 depending on how it’s used. I’ve been going back and forth on this exact thing since spring. My current lantern is one of those big D-cell ones that weighs a ton, so the idea of something pocket sized that also handles the bug side is tempting. But I keep tripping on the repellent part. From what I can tell, the light is the solid half of the package, and the mosquito thing is more of a bonus that people either swear by or shrug at. So if you mainly need tent light for reading and the repellent is just a nice extra, it could still be a decent swap, especially with the rechargeable battery. If you are counting on it to actually replace your citronella setup, that is where I would slow down. I’m leaning toward trying one for the light and keeping my old candle around as backup, since that way I’m not betting the whole trip on the gimmick side.
Ceramic heaters do feel different, more like a warm breeze hitting you than the whole room getting that baked feel. I noticed with mine that if I put it on the floor instead of a desk, the warmth spreads around the room better. Sitting right in front of it is where it really shines though.
I have both sizes sitting in my cabinet and the adult one actually feels flimsy to me compared to the old red cup, so I keep second-guessing if I placed it right. The child mask is the one that surprised me, it sits way more secure than I expected.

I’d say wait until you actually open it before ordering spares, since you might end up with duplicates you don’t need yet.
