MemberGot my Derila Ergo last week and I’m still figuring out the best way to position it. First night felt a bit weird but I woke up without my usual neck stiffness. Just wondering if other people found it took a few nights to get used to, or if it was good from the start for you?

no_sleepParticipantMine was weird for about two nights too, then it just clicked. I think your neck is so used to being unsupported that it takes a minute to realize it’s not supposed to hurt. Waking up without the stiffness is the whole point, so I’d say you’re already ahead of the game.

PixelKevinMemberTook me about four or five nights before I stopped fiddling with it. I sleep on my back mostly and kept shifting the little wings around until I found the spot where my neck actually rests in the curve. Now it’s fine, but I still notice it more than my old flat pillow.

MemberMine was fine from night one, but I’ve also used a memory foam pillow before so maybe I was used to the feel. The shape still took a couple of days to get used to though. If you’re not waking up stiff, I’d say that’s a good sign already.

MemberIt took me a good week before my neck stopped searching for the old pillow. After that it was fine and I stopped thinking about it entirely. I think people who switch from a squishy pillow notice it more than others.

MemberMine was comfortable from the first night, but I think that’s because I’m not picky about pillows at all. I just put my head down and sleep. I never understood the whole “my neck is searching for something” thing. It’s a pillow. If you wake up without pain, it’s doing its job.
The only thing I noticed was that the shape is smaller than what I was used to. Took me a second to stop reaching for extra pillow in the middle of the night. But that’s more of a habit thing than a comfort thing.
I’ve seen people on here talking about needing a week or more to adjust. I don’t buy it. Either your neck feels better or it doesn’t. If you’re still fiddling with it after a few nights, maybe it’s just not the right fit for you. No shame in that.

Mike in TXMemberI had the opposite experience from most people here, honestly. First couple nights I thought it was fine, no big deal. Then around night four or five I started waking up with my shoulder feeling a little off. Not the neck, weirdly enough, but like the side wing was pushing into the wrong spot when I rolled over.
I gave it another week and it sorted itself out, but I wouldn’t say it was ever a dramatic “click” moment for me. More like my body just got used to the shape and stopped fighting it. I do think if you’re coming from a flat, cheap pillow, there’s going to be some adjustment time. Your head just doesn’t know what to do with actual support at first.
Took me maybe two full weeks before I stopped thinking about it. Now I don’t notice it at all, which I guess is the point.

MemberI’m a side sleeper and I think that makes a huge difference with this pillow. My first couple of nights I kept waking up because my arm felt kind of in the way? Like I didn’t know where to put it with the wings and everything. But my neck itself felt okay, which was weird. I wasn’t waking up sore like I usually do, just confused about the shape.
I will say it took me closer to a week before I stopped fiddling with it, but I’m also someone who has to have things just right before I can fall asleep. I think if you’re not picky about pillows you’d be fine from night one, but if you’re like me and you need to adjust everything until it feels perfect, give it a few nights before you decide. The fact that you didn’t wake up stiff seems like a good sign honestly.

Jenna LeeMemberI noticed I was sleeping better before I actually felt comfortable with it, if that makes sense. Took me maybe a week to stop adjusting the position every time I rolled over, but my mornings were better almost immediately. I still flip it around sometimes though, still not sure which end is supposed to go where.

Dave RunnerMemberTook me closer to two and a half weeks before I stopped waking up and adjusting it in the middle of the night. I almost gave up on it around day ten because my neck felt more tired than before I got it, but I stuck with it and I’m glad I did. The first week was genuinely rough for me, not just a little weird. I think the issue was that my old pillow was super flat and worn out, so my neck was used to being in a completely different position. Once I got past that adjustment, I stopped thinking about it entirely. I don’t even notice the pillow under my head anymore, which I guess is the point. I would say give it a full two weeks before you decide either way.

MemberMine was weird in a different way. First few nights I kept waking up because the shape felt like it was pushing against my jaw or something. But the neck stiffness I normally had in the mornings was gone from day one, so I stuck with it. Took maybe a week before I stopped noticing the shape entirely.

Linda RobinsonMemberIt took me a good solid week before my neck stopped telling me something was different. Not painful, just aware of it. I think part of it is that I’d been sleeping on the same flat pillow for years, so any change was going to feel weird at first.
What surprised me is that I never really found one “right” position. Some nights the wings feel great, other nights I end up shifting around and using it more like a regular pillow. It still works fine either way, so I stopped overthinking it.
I’d say give it another week before you decide. If you’re waking up without the usual stiffness, that’s a decent sign even if it doesn’t feel natural yet. My experience was that comfort came after the good sleep, not the other way around.

MemberWeird is the right word for the first few nights, but in a good way. It’s not that it feels bad, it just feels like something is actually holding your head differently than you’re used to. Took me about four or five nights before I stopped noticing it.

EliMemberI think it depends more on what you’re used to than anything else. I came from a pretty flat pillow so the height on this one took me a few nights to get adjusted to. Once I figured out that I like it better with the lower part under my neck, it was fine.
30 de August de 2026 at 12:38 #8743Jackson_H
MemberMine was pretty much fine from night one. I know a lot of people talk about an adjustment period, but I didn’t really get that. It just felt like a firmer version of what I was already using, so there wasn’t much to get used to.

Owen21MemberMine was comfortable right away, but I also wasn’t expecting it to fix anything overnight. It just felt like a decent pillow from night one. The weird positioning thing goes away once you stop thinking about it and just sleep.

Emma__LMemberFor me it was somewhere in between. I didn’t hate it the first night but I also didn’t love it. It just felt like there was a lot of pillow under me in places I wasn’t used to having pillow. I think I spent the first couple of nights sort of shifting around trying to find where my head was supposed to go. Around night three or four I stopped thinking about it and now I don’t really notice the shape at all, which I guess means it’s working.
The morning after the first night I did notice that my neck wasn’t as sore as it usually is, but I wasn’t sure if that was the pillow or just a good night. I still can’t tell if I’m using it the “right” way, but I wake up fine and that’s honestly all I care about at this point.
30 de August de 2026 at 13:54 #8752
Emma ReadsMemberFor me it was pretty much comfortable from the start, but I also came from a pillow that was already somewhat similar in shape. I think it really depends on what you’re used to sleeping on. If your old pillow was flat or super soft, yeah, it’s going to feel weird for a bit.

MemberIt took me a good two weeks before I stopped fiddling with it every night. Even now I still flip it around sometimes depending on how I’m sleeping, but the neck stiffness that I used to wake up with is definitely gone. Sounds like you’re already on the right track though if you woke up fine the first morning.
