Tom CallMemberGot an Epicooler last month for my small apartment. It definitely blows out cool air but I’m not sure it actually drops the room temp much. Feels more like a strong fan with a chill setting. Anyone else notice that?

Mike RunnerMemberWorks fine for me. Cools the spot I’m sitting in, which is all I really wanted.

MemberI was kinda wondering the same thing when I first got mine. I’ve noticed it definitely feels cooler if you’re sitting close, but if I walk to the other side of the room it’s not much different than before. So I think it’s more of a personal zone thing than actually changing the whole room.

MemberI skimmed through and it sounds like you’re describing exactly what I noticed too. It cools the air right in front of it but the rest of the room stays pretty much the same temperature. Works fine for me when I’m sitting at my desk though, so I’m not too bothered by it.

Zoe MatthewsMemberMakes sense. I was wondering if maybe I just needed to run it longer or on a higher setting to actually feel the room change.

Carla82MemberIt’s basically a fancy fan with some extra features. If you want actual room cooling you need a window unit or something with a compressor.

Mar__kusMemberIt’s basically a glorified fan. I wouldn’t expect it to drop the room temp, just makes sitting near it bearable.

MemberHonestly I think it depends on what you’re expecting. For me it works fine as a spot cooler, but I never thought it would actually lower the temperature of the whole room.

no_sleepParticipantIt’s fine for what it is. I just use mine to keep the air moving when it’s stuffy, not expecting it to freeze the whole room.

northshoreParticipantHonestly, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. The air feels noticeably cooler when it hits you, and that’s enough for me to keep it running. I’m not expecting it to turn my place into a fridge, so it does the job fine.

MemberI think it mostly just cools the air right around it. I wouldn’t expect it to change the whole room temp like a window unit would. For what it is though, the cool air blowing on me is enough to make the room feel better.

Oliver BrooksMemberI wasn’t really expecting it to cool the whole room, so I’m not disappointed. It keeps the air moving and that’s enough for me when it’s just hot enough to be annoying but not unbearable.

MemberI think it just depends on what you need. For me, it keeps the air moving and feels nice when I’m sitting at my desk, but I never expected it to turn my whole apartment into a walk-in freezer.

Tom CallMemberPretty much what I figured. Keeps me cool at my desk and that’s good enough for now. Not gonna overthink it.
