MemberGot the Derila Ergo a few days ago and I’m not sure if I’m using it right. It feels weird on my neck, not painful, just different. Do I need to stick with it for a week or so before I know if it’s for me? I don’t want to waste time if it’s not going to work.

d4nielParticipantGive it a week, mine felt odd too at first.
15 de October de 2026 at 16:03 #15982Rina Solis
MemberI’d give it at least two weeks, not just one. That weird feeling is usually your neck getting used to a different shape. I’d set a date in my head and if it still feels off by then, I’d return it. No point dragging it out for a month.

MemberI gave mine about ten days before I made up my mind. The odd neck feeling faded somewhere in the middle of that, but the height still wasn’t right for how I sleep. That’s the part nobody can tell you, it just depends on your body.

Mike RunnerMemberA few days is nothing. You can’t judge a pillow like that. I tried a different ergonomic one and it took me almost a month before it stopped feeling strange, and even then I wasn’t convinced. There’s no magic number where it suddenly clicks.

JSmithParticipantMine actually felt pretty good from the first night, so I don’t think the weird feeling is something everyone gets. The thing that sold me was waking up without that usual stiff spot between my shoulders. If it still feels off after a bit, that’s a different story.

MemberA week seems fair, but I prefer softer pillows personally.

MemberI actually don’t think you need a full week to know. My neck felt off for maybe three nights and then it clicked, so if it still feels wrong after that I’d probably try a different height. Not every pillow works for every person.

Jenna LeeMemberI stopped using mine after about four nights. The shape just wasn’t for me and I’d rather switch back than wait it out. If you’re already questioning it, that’s usually your answer.

MemberA few days tells you basically nothing with these. I stuck with mine for two solid weeks before my neck stopped noticing the shape at all, and that was with normal use every night. If you bail at four or five nights you’re judging it before your body has adjusted.

MemberI gave mine away after two nights. The shape just didn’t work for how I sleep, and I could tell pretty fast it wasn’t going to click. No point forcing it if your gut says no.

MemberTwo weeks is the number I’d go with. Anything under that and you’re mostly just feeling the newness of the shape, not whether it actually helps.
16 de October de 2026 at 14:53 #16143Mike38
MemberIf the shape feels weird but not painful, that’s pretty normal for the first stretch. I’d base the decision on your mornings instead of the feel at bedtime. If you’re waking up with the same neck tightness after a couple weeks, that’s your answer.

MemberI sleep on my stomach mostly, which is probably why no ergonomic pillow ever works for me. My preference is a flat, cheap pillow I can basically ignore, and anything with a shape to it just fights me all night. So when something feels weird on my neck right away, for me that’s usually a sign it’s not going to suddenly become comfortable. I’ve tried a couple of the shaped ones over the years and the odd feeling never really went away, it just stayed odd. If your mornings aren’t any worse and you actually sleep on your back or side, that’s a different situation than mine. But for me, if the shape bugs me at bedtime, that feeling tends to stick around.

MemberThe weird feeling went away for me around night five or six. What actually told me it was working was waking up without that stiff spot between my shoulder blades. If that starts showing up in your mornings, it’s worth keeping.

MemberA week is usually my cutoff for anything like this. I tried a different ergonomic pillow last year and gave it about 8 or 9 nights. By then I either stop noticing the shape or I don’t, and that was enough to know. If it still feels off after that, it’s probably not going to suddenly click on night 12.
The neck thing you’re describing sounds normal though. Mine felt strange for the first several nights, just an unfamiliar shape under my head. Not sore, just odd. I kept waking up half aware of it, which made me think it wasn’t working, but that’s more about your body adjusting than the pillow failing.
What I’d actually pay attention to is the morning after, not how it feels when you lie down. If you’re waking up with the same tension you had before, that’s a sign. If the mornings are roughly the same, give it a few more nights. If they’re worse, I’d stop.

MemberA week felt about right for me.

Ben KerrMemberI bought a similar shaped pillow last spring and had the same first impression. Weird pressure points, not pain exactly, just my neck not knowing what to do with itself. I kept using it out of laziness more than hope.
What actually made me decide was comparing two mornings. I slept one night on the ergo thing and one night back on my old pillow, then checked how my neck felt when I got up. The difference was small but real, and it showed up around the fourth or fifth night, not the first. If both mornings had felt identical I probably would have stopped.
One thing I noticed is that the first few nights I was unconsciously fighting the shape, like adjusting and re-adjusting. Once I stopped messing with it and just let my head sit where it landed, it got less strange. That took maybe three nights on its own.
I would not drag it out for weeks if nothing changes at all. But a few days is too early to call it, since you are still basically sleeping on a new object. Give it a handful of nights and pay attention to how you feel when you wake up rather than how it feels when you first lie down.

MemberMine clicked on night two, so a week seems long.
16 de October de 2026 at 20:17 #16189Cecily
MemberA week is too long, mine was obvious by night three.
16 de October de 2026 at 20:56 #16194Tommy Burrel
MemberGave mine about two weeks before I gave up. The weird feeling never really went away for me, it just stayed annoying. Not saying a week is wrong, but for me it wasn’t a matter of adjusting.
