I’d say the finger hole isn’t really something you have to adapt to, it’s more of a preference thing. If it feels off now, a few more weeks probably won’t flip that for you. I’d just use whichever one feels safer in your hand.
It runs off USB-C the entire time, so there’s no charging it up and carrying it around unplugged. The carry handle is handy for moving it between rooms, but you’d need to plug it in again each time.
I actually think the heat is the weakest part. It warms up but I never felt like it did much for my muscles, the pulse modes are what I keep using it for. If heat is your main reason for buying it you might end up disappointed.
I poke at the volume buttons when I need quiet, but I have definitely tapped down and still heard a faint bit of sound, so it isn’t a true mute. If you need silence right away on a bus, that could get annoying.
It does pull from a bucket, that part isn’t fake. But mine only really does it when the bucket sits higher than the unit, otherwise it just sputters and gives up. So yeah it sucks, just not from the ground like you’d hope.
Mine hits my upper back way more than my neck honestly. I have a pretty long neck though so it kind of naturally sits lower on me no matter how I adjust it. I stopped trying to move it up because the upper back tension is actually the main reason I keep using it. The trapezius area gets that warm pulse feeling and it does loosen things up after a long day at my desk. I’ve had mine for a few months now and I use it most evenings while watching TV. It’s not some miracle thing but it does take the edge off. So yeah I’d say the upper back is fair game, not just an accident. If it sits lower on you that might just be your build and not a fitting issue.
I went in thinking the quiet mode would basically be my default for one on one stuff, and after a couple months I actually ended up leaving mine on social mode instead. In a plain room with one person it just sounds less closed off to me. Quiet mode sharpens things but it also makes the room feel a little dead, if that makes sense. Social keeps a bit more of the natural sound while still lifting voices, so I stopped touching the buttons as much.
The detail I didn’t expect is how much the ear tips changed this. I started with the medium tips because that’s what came on them, and one on one talking was just okay. Kind of thin sounding, and I kept adjusting the volume. Swapped to the large tips a few weeks in and suddenly the same setting sounded fuller and I wasn’t reaching for the volume near as often. Nothing else changed, same room, same people. So if one on one feels underwhelming at first, it might not be the mode at all. Might just be the fit.
I still switch to TV mode for actual TV, but for two people talking I honestly forget it’s even on a mode now. It’s just where I left it.
It’s interesting seeing everyone’s take on this. For me, the height thing wasn’t really the issue. I had mine plugged into an outlet near the floor in our unfinished part of the basement, right by the utility sink. It seemed to be working okay for a while, but then I noticed more spider activity than I was comfortable with, so I moved the unit to a higher outlet on the opposite wall just to change things up.
Honestly, I didn’t notice a huge difference in pest activity from the height change alone. What did seem to matter more was clearing out the area around it. We had a bunch of stacked boxes and old holiday decorations near the lower outlet, and once I moved those away from the wall, the coverage felt better. The sound waves probably had a clearer path.
If I were you, I’d just pick the outlet that’s most practical for your basement layout, but try to keep the immediate area around it somewhat clear. A basement is usually cluttered, so giving it a little breathing room probably does more than worrying about whether it’s high or low. I wouldn’t stress about getting a ladder to reach a high outlet unless that’s just where you have space.
I kept mine plugged in behind a tall cabinet that sits pretty flush against the wall, so I was expecting the worst. I didn’t rearrange anything and I can’t say I noticed a drop in effectiveness, but I also wasn’t checking for bugs every day. The ants that used to show up near the baseboards did eventually stop coming around.
I think it kind of depends on how much you care about the call audio on your end. I’ve noticed the SonaBuds pick up my voice really clearly but the person on the other line sounds a bit quieter than I’m used to. If you’re in a quiet spot it’s fine, but I wouldn’t want to rely on them for a call in a noisy place.
I think the 50m rating is legit for actual swimming, not just splashes. I’ve worn mine for open water swims a few times this summer and it tracked everything fine, no issues with the sensors or the ring itself. I do take it off after and give it a quick rinse, but that’s more out of habit than worry. I’d say go for it with your laps.
I’ve left mine running for basically the whole evening several nights in a row and never got that heavy feeling. My bedroom is pretty small too. Maybe yours is just a bit too airtight or something.
I’d probably just skip the bucket thing unless you really have no other option. It works for a quick rinse here and there, but for a full car wash it gets annoying having to watch the water level and stop to refill mid-way. I’d rather just find a spot with a hose or use it somewhere with a faucet nearby.
I think it depends on how deep the sand was where you dropped them. If they landed in that loose dry stuff, they could’ve worked their way down pretty far by now. But if they were in the wet packed sand, they’re probably just sitting there waiting for someone to kick them up. I’d go back once, but not with high expectations.
My daughter is 7 and we got one of these last year, mostly because she decided she was too big for me to do her nails anymore but she still can’t quite manage clippers. The safety guard thing was actually the reason I picked it over just letting her try the regular ones, and I do think it helps. We haven’t had any skin catching incidents, but I also don’t let her use it completely alone. I hover a bit.
For small nails, it’s been fine. Her toenails are still pretty tiny and I was worried the whole thing would be too bulky, but it’s small enough that it doesn’t feel awkward. The filing part is probably what she likes most honestly, she thinks it’s fun to smooth them out after. It does take longer than just clipping everything myself, but that’s kind of the tradeoff. She feels like she’s doing it herself and I’m not terrified the whole time.
I wouldn’t say it’s easier than regular clippers if you’re the one doing it. It’s slower and you still have to move it around to get the right angle. But for a kid who wants to be involved in the process, it’s been pretty practical for us. She’s gotten the hang of it quicker than I expected.
I think a little bit of play is pretty normal on these kinds of devices, honestly. Mine has a tiny bit of movement when I push on it, but it’s never caused any issues with saving or reading the card. As long as it clicks in and stays put during use, I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
The remote working from another room is kind of the whole point though, isn’t it? I get that it feels weird to trust it, but if the UV could pass through walls, it would be a major hazard for everyone else in the building too. You’re fine to just shut the door and hit the button.
Good to know, thanks for the input everyone. I think I’ll just set it up and see how it goes since the morning sun should be enough. If it starts dropping too fast I can always move it or plug it in. Appreciate the help.
