I’ve been using a cheap pair of yellow tinted glasses for night driving for a while. They help a bit with headlight glare but not much else. How does PolorVision actually compare to those old school yellow ones? Is the contrast enhancement thing noticeable or just marketing?

I’ve wondered the same thing. I tried a cheap yellow pair once and they just made everything dimmer. Sounds like the PolorVision has some actual lens tech behind it rather than just a color filter, but hard to tell if it’s worth the jump without trying them first.

The contrast thing is real with PolorVision but it’s subtle, not like a night and day difference. Cheap yellow ones just filter blue light, these actually cut down the harsh reflections from wet roads and street signs. I’d say it’s worth the upgrade if you drive a lot at night.

I think the cheap yellow ones just make everything look darker, so the PolorVision feels more comfortable to me after a few hours driving. Not sure if it’s worth the price jump for everyone but I don’t regret trying them.

I’ve been thinking about trying them myself but honestly from what I can tell it’s probably not a massive leap. The yellow ones do the basic glare thing and the PolorVision might just add a little polish on top. Not sure it’s worth the switch unless you’re really bothered.

I think people overestimate how much difference the yellow tint alone is doing. The PolorVision lenses are supposed to filter specific light wavelengths, not just throw a color on everything. I could see that actually helping with wet roads more than the cheap ones.

Ive been curious about the contrast thing too. I feel like the yellow ones just make everything look yellow and thats about it. If the PolorVision actually does something with the light wavelengths that might make a difference in rain or fog. Hard to know without trying them yourself though.

Probably more marketing than magic. Yellow ones cut glare fine for most people.

Pretty much what I figured. The yellow ones do the basic job but the contrast thing seems like it helps in specific conditions, not all the time. Might grab a pair if I see them on sale but not rushing.

I swapped my old yellow ones for these mainly because the yellow pair kept making everything look kinda muddy at dusk. With PolorVision I noticed the edges of the road and signs seem to have a bit more definition, especially during that gray twilight time. Not life changing, but I’d say it’s a step up.
