Just wondering if anyone else has tried the Qinux Vapoxis on windows yet. I gave it a go on the kitchen window today and it seemed to clean fine, but I noticed a few streaks after it dried. Maybe I was doing it wrong or the window was just too dirty? Not a big deal, just curious if it’s a technique thing or if I need to wipe it after.

Streaks usually mean the glass was warmer than the steam or the window had some kind of residue. I have used mine on a few windows and the trick was to do a quick pass with a dry microfiber while it was still damp. Once it fully dries on its own, it is always a gamble.

I think a quick wipe after is just part of it, honestly. I used mine on the sliding door and got the same thing when I let it dry on its own. Soon as I gave it a pass with a microfiber cloth while it was still damp, no streaks at all.

Wiping after is pretty much standard with mine. I use it on the bathroom mirror and the patio door and if I don’t do a quick pass with a dry cloth, I always see those faint lines once it cools.

I think part of it comes down to how much water you’re leaving behind and how the glass is sitting when you go over it. When I first used mine on the living room window, I got a few dried patches and figured it was just the window having some old film on it from way back. Second time around, I moved slower and kept the steam head a bit further off the glass, and it came out pretty clean. Not perfect, but a lot better than the first try.

The thing is, windows are a bit different from tiles or a countertop where you can see the result right away. With glass, you don’t really notice until it dries, and by then it’s too late to do much about it. I’ve also noticed that if the window is getting direct sun at the time, it dries weird and leaves marks no matter what I do. So I try to do mine later in the day or on a cloudy morning.

I didn’t find that I needed to wipe after every time, but I did have to go back over a couple of spots with a dry cloth. Not a huge deal. I think the steam cleaner gets most of it, and then the last little bit is just the nature of glass and hot steam. I still use mine on the windows because it beats getting the bucket and squeegee out, but I also don’t expect it to look like a professional job every single pass.

I had the same thing happen the first couple times I used mine on the windows in the living room. What I found was that it really depends on how fast I move the nozzle across the glass. If I go slow and let the steam sit for even a second too long, it leaves those drying marks. When I speed up and keep a steady pace, it looks much better. That said, I still keep a dry microfiber cloth nearby for the edges and corners where the steam tends to pool up a bit. The main pane usually comes out fine now, but the bottom edge always needs a quick wipe. I would not say it is a flaw with the unit, just one of those things you get a feel for after a few tries. The kitchen window can also be trickier if there is any cooking grease film on it.

It could be a technique thing, but honestly I think windows are just one of those surfaces where a steamer alone rarely gives you that perfect finish. I tried mine on the bedroom window and got the same result, those faint lines showed up once it dried. I wasn’t too annoyed because I figured it was just leftover mineral stuff from the water.

I found that if I go over the glass with a dry microfiber cloth right after steaming, it looks great. But if I walk away and let it air dry, streaks are almost guaranteed. The steamer loosens everything up nicely, but it doesn’t seem to remove whatever is left behind completely. It just moves it around a bit.

So I would say it’s not you doing it wrong. You might just need to keep a cloth handy for the final pass. That has worked for me so far.

A quick wipe after is just how it goes with these steam cleaners on glass. I wouldn’t overthink it. The steam loosens the grime but it still leaves a film behind that needs a dry cloth to finish the job.

I usually can’t get a streak-free finish with mine either, so I just accept it.

It may just take a bit of practice. I will say that on my bathroom mirror it was pretty much fine, but I’ve found the larger the glass surface, the more likely I am to see a faint film afterwards. I just keep a cloth nearby when I use it on anything big.

So everyone’s just accepting streaks as normal with this thing? I don’t get that. I ran mine over the patio doors last weekend and it dried completely clear. No second wipe, no buffing. If you’re getting streaks, you’re probably moving way too slow and leaving too much moisture behind. Keep it moving and it’s fine.

Seems like the consensus is pretty much what I figured. I’ll just keep a cloth handy next time instead of expecting it to be perfect straight from the steamer. Thanks for the replies, good to know I wasn’t doing something completely wrong.
