I used to have one of the older Tile stickers and the beep on that was just loud enough to find my keys across the room. Just got the iTagPro and it seems a bit quieter to me, but maybe I’m just used to the old one. Anyone else notice a difference in the sound volume? Not a big deal, just curious.

I can’t say I’ve done a side-by-side comparison with a Tile, but I do remember the Tile being annoyingly loud. The iTagPro is definitely more of a polite chirp than a shout. I keep mine on my keys and I’ve missed it a couple times when it’s buried in a jacket pocket, whereas the old Tile cut through that no problem. For me, it’s actually a plus, I don’t need the whole house hearing my stuff beep. But if you’re relying on it to find things from across the room, you might be doing a bit more walking than you used to.

Honestly I noticed the same thing when I switched. The Tile had a sharper, more piercing ring while the iTagPro sounds a bit softer and deeper. I can still hear it from across the house, but it doesn’t cut through noise the same way. It’s fine for everyday use, just not as urgent sounding.

I haven’t had a Tile in years so I can’t do a proper comparison anymore, but I do remember the old ones being pretty obnoxious. Like, you’d press that button and the whole room knew you were looking for your keys. The iTagPro is definitely more polite about it. I’ve missed the sound once or twice when it was buried under a jacket on the couch, but the two-way finding thing helps with that since my phone vibrates too. For my wallet and backpack it’s fine. I’d rather have it slightly quieter than have it scream at me every time I misplace something in my own house.

I think it’s actually louder, not quieter. Mine cuts through pretty clear even when the thing is buried under a jacket. Maybe your unit is defective or the battery is low. I’d check that before assuming it’s a design change.

Mine is noticeably softer too. I actually had to test it a couple times because I thought the battery was weak or something. The old Tile was obnoxious enough to hear from another room, this one I can barely hear if it’s under a couch cushion.

Louder isn’t always better, I’d rather have a soft beep than that ear-piercing Tile squeal.

It’s funny, I actually thought the opposite when I first got mine. I remember the old Tile being kind of weak in my opinion, like I’d be digging through a couch and still missing it because the sound just didn’t carry. My iTagPro seems to have a slightly higher pitch that cuts through better for me. I have it on my keychain and I can usually hear it from the next room pretty clearly. Maybe it depends on the model or even the battery, or maybe my hearing is just going, who knows. But I definitely don’t remember the Tile being that loud, so I was pleasantly surprised with this one. It’s possible your unit is just a bit quieter, but I wouldn’t assume that’s the standard for all of them.

Louder or quieter, who cares. The Tile beep annoyed the hell out of me anyway. I don’t need my tracker to sound like a fire alarm when I drop my keys between the couch cushions. A softer beep is fine as long as it actually gets me to the right drawer.

I might be in the minority here but I actually think the iTagPro has a sharper tone to it, even if it’s not necessarily louder in terms of raw volume. The old Tile sounded kind of muffled to me, like it was buzzing through a layer of fabric. The iTagPro seems to cut through more cleanly, so it feels like it grabs your attention better even at a lower volume. I found mine pretty easy to locate when it was shoved between couch cushions, which is where my keys usually end up. I wouldn’t say it’s night and day different, but the quality of the sound makes up for any drop in loudness. I guess it just depends on what your ear is used to picking up.

I actually think the old Tile was the quieter one in my case. My iTagPro is plenty loud, almost too loud when I hit the button by accident at night. I’d say give it a few more tries in different spots around the house, but mine seems fine.

I notice volume differences depending on the room too. In my bedroom it sounds plenty loud, but out in the garage it’s noticeably fainter. Never had the old Tile to compare side by side, but the iTagPro gets the job done for finding my bag in the house.

I’ve had mine for a few months now and honestly never really noticed it being quieter until I misplaced it under a couch cushion. It was still easy enough to find, just took a second to register. Maybe the tone is just different enough that it throws you off at first.

I actually think the iTagPro is noticeably louder than my old Tile ever was. I thought the same thing at first, but then I realized I was just holding it differently or standing farther away than I normally did with the Tile. Once I did a side by side test in the same spot, it was pretty clear to me.

Mine is actually the opposite. I had the old Tile years ago and the iTagPro sounds louder to me, especially when I’m in the same room. Maybe the tone is different so it throws you off, but I’ve never had trouble hearing it.

Can’t say I’ve noticed it being quieter, but then again I never owned one of the old Tiles so I’ve got nothing to compare it to. What I can tell you is that mine sounds plenty loud when I actually need it. Lost my wallet in a pile of jackets last week and heard it from the other room without any trouble.

Seems like a lot of these comparisons come down to where you’ve got the thing attached and what surface it’s sitting on. A tracker buried in a bag is gonna sound different than one clipped to a keyring in the open. That’s just basic physics, not necessarily a manufacturing difference.

If you’re genuinely worried it’s defective, test it in a few different spots before you decide. Otherwise I’d say use it for a while and see if it actually causes you problems.
