Glokore Filtered Showerhead filter life – do you change it on a schedule?

I never bothered with a set schedule for mine. I just checked the cartridge when the water pressure started feeling a bit weaker or my hair felt like it had more buildup than usual. That ended up being around five or six months for me, but I don’t shower daily so your mileage might vary.

I actually think waiting for the water to feel different is a bit risky. By the time I noticed any change, my hair was already feeling kinda rough and dull. I just put a reminder in my phone every couple of months and swap it out, even if it seems fine. I’d rather change it a bit early than deal with the aftermath.

I just swap mine when the water starts feeling like it’s not doing anything anymore. I know that sounds vague, but I can tell when my skin gets that tight feeling again after a shower. Probably around the 4 month mark for me, but I’m not exactly keeping track.

I’m terrible at schedules too, so I just set a reminder on my phone for every three months. Takes two seconds and I don’t have to think about it. The water pressure drop is pretty gradual, so I wouldn’t rely on feeling it.

I didn’t track mine at first either, but I ended up just making it part of my showerhead cleaning routine. Every time I deep clean the bathroom, I give the cartridge a quick look and if it’s looking discolored or like it’s seen better days, I swap it. For me that’s been landing around every 4ish months, but I’m on municipal water that’s not crazy harsh.

I will say, the water pressure kinda changes slightly when it’s getting close to done, or at least I notice the flow feeling a bit different. Not dramatically, but enough that it’s a nice little heads up. I’d rather change it a little early than let it go too long, mostly because I have no clue what the water actually looks like without it. 😅

The whole “filter lasts X months” thing is mostly a guess anyway since it depends on what’s in your water. I live in a place with pretty mild water, so I get away with leaving it longer than someone with heavy chlorine. If you’re the type to forget, just put a reminder in your phone and stop overthinking it. It’s not like the showerhead stops working when the filter is done, you just lose the benefits and don’t realize it right away.
