Sam ReadsMemberI’m thinking about the Derila Ergo but I’m wondering about the height compared to a normal pillow. I’ve been using the same old pillow for years and it’s pretty flat now. Will the Derila Ergo feel too tall for a back sleeper or is it more adjustable than it looks?

MemberHonestly I wouldn’t overthink the height thing too much. I switched from a flat old pillow to the Derila and it felt a little tall for maybe two nights, then I got used to it. The foam sinks down a bit once you lay on it, so it’s not as drastic as it looks sitting on the bed.

Mike in TXMemberIt probably won’t feel as tall as you think once you actually lay on it. The foam gives way more than a regular pillow so the height changes.

Daniele RossiMemberI mean you could always toss it if it doesn’t work. But I’d guess the foam squishes down more than you expect, so it probably won’t feel as tall as it looks out of the box.

EthanFreeMemberI think the foam does compress more than you’d expect once your head is on it, so the height isn’t as dramatic as it looks sitting there. Might take a night or two to feel normal if you’re used to a flat pillow though.

Tina MMemberI think once you actually put your head on it, the Derila Ergo does sink down more than you’d expect from just looking at it. I was a little worried about the height too since I’m mostly a back sleeper, but it didn’t feel overly tall to me after a night or two. Not totally sure if it’s perfect for everyone, but it worked out fine for me.

Owen21MemberI wouldn’t stress over it too much. The foam sinks down a lot once your head hits it so it won’t feel as tall as it looks sitting on the bed.

Emma ReadsMemberI think people overthink pillow height a bit. If you’re used to a flat one it’ll feel different at first but you get used to it.

Tom BriggsMemberI got one a few months back and honestly it’s fine for back sleeping. Doesn’t feel crazy tall to me.

Tom CallMemberI switched to the Derila Ergo from a flat pillow and it felt tall for maybe the first night. After that I didn’t really notice it. It’s fine for back sleeping, just give it a couple days.

MemberIf you’re used to a flat pillow it’ll feel tall at first, but the foam gives way pretty quick. I wouldn’t say it’s adjustable, it just compresses more than you think. For back sleeping it worked fine for me, no real issues.

Noah KentMemberHonestly I wouldn’t overthink it. If you’ve been sleeping on a flat pillow for years anything with actual support is going to feel tall for a night or two.

Mar__kusMemberIt’s probably not as big of a deal as it looks. The foam compresses a fair bit once your head is on it so it settles down. I’d just give it a couple nights to adjust and see how it feels.

Nina_gadgetMemberI keep seeing people talk about the adjustment period but nobody really mentions how the cooling layer feels when the pillow is new. Does it actually stay cool through the night or is that just marketing?

Sam ReadsMemberThanks for all the replies. Sounds like it’s just a matter of getting used to it for a night or two. I’ll probably just give it a shot and see how it goes.
