northshoreParticipantI know the main point is tracking your stuff, but I keep losing my phone around the house and was wondering if the iTagPro can help with that too. The two-way finding feature sounds useful but I’m not sure how well it actually works in practice. Does it just make your phone ring or does it do something more? I haven’t bought one yet and this is one of the main things I’d want it for.

MemberI mainly use mine for finding my keys, not my phone, but the ring is the whole feature. It just plays a sound through the app so you still have to be within Bluetooth range for it to work. If your phone is truly lost somewhere else, this won’t magically locate it.

MemberThe two-way finding is the main reason I keep mine. I don’t buy the concern that it’s useless, the ring is loud enough to find my phone under couch cushions. You do need the app open in the background though, otherwise it just won’t trigger.

MemberMine only rings if my phone is within Bluetooth range of the tag, which is not that far. So if the phone is truly lost somewhere else, it does nothing for you. Works fine when it’s just buried in the couch cushions though.

Lisa HydrowMemberMine has saved me a few times when my phone slipped between couch cushions. You just tap the button on the tag and the phone rings, even if it’s on silent. Works great for around the house.

MemberUsually the phone finds the tag, not the other way around.

MemberMine helped me find my phone once when I left it in the car and the tag was in my bag, so it works for that kind of thing. But I stopped relying on it for phone finding because the app itself has to be open in the background, and if it gets killed the button does nothing. Took me a while to figure that out.

Dave RunnerMemberI use the phone-finding side more than the tag-finding side at this point. My keys basically live on the hook now, but my phone still wanders off constantly, mostly onto the kitchen counter or into the laundry pile.
What actually sold me on it was a pretty boring situation. I was heading out the door one morning and couldn’t find my phone anywhere. I’d already gone through the usual routine of patting pockets and checking the couch. Then I remembered the tag was clipped to my bag, so I pressed the button on it and heard the phone buzzing from somewhere in the bedroom. Turned out it had slid under a pile of clothes on the chair. Took maybe ten seconds total.
That’s really all it does though. It makes the phone ring. There’s no map pointing you toward it or anything like that. For me that’s fine because nine times out of ten my phone is somewhere in the same house, just buried under something. I’ve probably used it that way a dozen times over the last few months and it’s worked every time.
I wouldn’t buy it thinking it’ll track a phone that’s genuinely gone, but for the around-the-house stuff it does the job.

MemberIf I’m being blunt, I’d skip it for phone finding. The tag makes your phone ring, sure, but that only helps when the phone is actually nearby and you just can’t see it. It’s a Bluetooth connection, so the range is what it is. If the phone is in another room or the tag isn’t close, pressing the button does nothing useful. I’d rather just use my watch or a cheap second phone to call it if the concern is losing it around the house. For keys or a bag, fine, the tag does its job. For the phone itself, it’s backwards. You need the phone to find the tag, not the other way around. So if finding your phone is the main reason you’re buying it, I’d pass.

MemberThe two-way finding is the main reason I still keep one on my keys. Mine rings my phone from two rooms away without any issue, so it handles the whole “phone is somewhere in the house” thing fine. It is just a ring though, nothing fancy.
2 de October de 2026 at 05:23 #13927
Emma__LMemberMine does ring the phone but I’ve noticed it only works if the phone is still connected by Bluetooth, so it’s not much help if the phone’s actually dead or left somewhere far. For around the house though it’s been fine.

EliMemberI’d say the phone-finding part is more of a convenience than a real solution for someone who loses their phone constantly. It’s basically a remote that makes your phone beep, so you’re still relying on the phone being somewhere close enough to hear it. If it slid under a couch cushion or got buried in laundry, that works fine. If you left it at a friend’s place or in a store, the tag on your keys isn’t going to help you much. I think people sometimes expect it to work like a full tracking system for the phone itself, and it just isn’t that. For around the house though, it does the one job it’s supposed to do.

Lisa HallMemberIt only makes the phone ring, which is fine if it’s under a couch cushion or something. Mine worked for that once. If the phone is actually dead or really gone, the tag isn’t doing anything for you.

MemberA lot of people here seem to treat the phone-finding thing as this half-useful gimmick, but I actually think that side is underrated if you use it right. The trick is that it’s not really meant to replace anything for a phone that’s totally lost somewhere random. It’s more for when you set the phone down somewhere silly and you’re already in the house. From what I’ve seen, it just makes the phone play a sound through the app, so it’s basically a remote chime. That worked fine in my case for finding it under a pile of laundry once. If you’re expecting it to point you to a location on a map or work when the phone’s been off for hours, that’s not really the point of the feature. For putting a tag on your keys and using it to ring the phone when you’re nearby, it’s handy.

MemberMine barely worked for that, wouldn’t buy it for a phone.

MemberMine has saved me a few times when my phone slid between the couch cushions, so it does the job for around-the-house stuff. The ring is decently loud too, louder than I expected for something that small. You just have to remember the tag needs to be within range of your phone for it to work.

MemberThe phone finding thing is the only reason I kept mine.
2 de October de 2026 at 09:37 #13957Kevin Rogers
MemberMine gets used for this way more than for my keys, if I’m being honest. I’ve got a toddler who likes to wander off with my phone, so I just press the button on the tag and follow the sound. Works every time.

MemberThe two-way finding is just a ring. That’s it. There’s no magic here, the tag pings your phone and it plays a sound, same as calling it from another device. Which is fine if the phone is in the same room and not buried under something that muffles it.
My issue is the range. If the tag is sitting in the kitchen and I’m upstairs, sometimes it won’t trigger at all. Bluetooth only reaches so far, and walls eat the signal. So you’d better remember roughly where you left the phone, otherwise you’re just walking around the house hoping it connects.
For the price it’s fine for what it is, but anyone expecting it to locate a phone on the other side of the house reliably is going to be disappointed. It’s a short range noisemaker, not a tracking system.
2 de October de 2026 at 11:06 #13965
L_ParkerMemberMine rings my phone fine, but the range is shorter than I expected. Works if the phone is in the same general area, not so much if it’s upstairs and the tag is downstairs. For a house situation it’s decent.
2 de October de 2026 at 12:53 #13974
northshoreParticipantFine, I’ll grab one and see how it goes.
2 de October de 2026 at 13:01 #13975Chris Patrick
MemberI mostly use mine the other way around, pinging the tag from my phone to find my keys. For finding the phone itself, I’d rather just use my watch or ask someone to call it, so the reverse feature isn’t something I reach for.
