I just wouldn’t expect it to work the same all the way up. The unit does what it does near the floor, and if you have a vaulted ceiling you’re basically throwing half the air into space. I’d rather have one pointed at the couch than trying to fill the whole room, but that’s just how I’d use it.

in reply to: Qinux Zindoggo safe zone vs old fence setting, how exact is it? #7924

I get the hesitation. I’ve been burned by delayed safe zone alerts on other trackers too, so I wasn’t expecting much when I picked up the Zindoggo. But honestly, for what it is, it’s been a lot more reliable than I thought it would be. The alerts aren’t instant, but they’re close enough that I’m not getting the “dog escaped 10 minutes ago” nonsense I dealt with before.

I’ve had mine for about two months now. My dog likes to test the boundary when he sees a squirrel on the other side of the yard, and I usually get the notification on my phone before he’s even made it back to the porch. Is it pinpoint exact down to the foot? No. But it’s not a rough estimate either. It’s somewhere in between, which is honestly more than I expected from a collar in this price range.

If you’re expecting military-grade precision, you’ll be disappointed. But if you just want to know when your dog leaves the area you set, it does the job. The app is a bit clunky when you’re first setting up the safe zone, but once it’s in there, it stays put.

I’d say give it a shot. Worst case, you return it and stick with what you have. But I think you’ll be surprised at how much better it handles the boundary compared to the older stuff.

If you can feel it with your nail, stop right there because NuraFix won’t touch it. What people call “light scratches” is usually just marring in the clear coat, and that’s where this stuff earns its keep. It’s not going to remove anything, it’s just going to fill it in enough to mess with the light.

in reply to: Back Restore vs the old TENS unit I used to borrow? #7463

TENS units and this thing are honestly in different categories. I get why people lump them together since they’re both electronic gadgets for back pain, but the sensation is completely different.

I borrowed a TENS from a coworker years ago for a pulled muscle and hated it. That sharp, tingly, almost itchy buzzing drove me nuts after like ten minutes. It felt like it was messing with the nerves right under my skin rather than actually getting into the muscle. I stuck with it for a few sessions because I felt like I was supposed to, but I always ended up turning it off early.

I tried the Back Restore at a buddy’s place when he first got his. The vibration mode on that thing is slower and heavier. It’s not that rapid-fire electrical sting at all. It’s more like a deep tissue massager that’s working through the layers instead of just dancing on the surface. Combined with the stretch from the arch and the heat, it felt like my whole lower back was actually loosening up rather than just being distracted from the pain.

The TENS always felt like a temporary patch. Like, okay, the pain signals are being scrambled for a bit, but nothing is actually changing. The Back Restore feels like it’s doing something mechanical to the muscles and the spine itself. I can’t tell you if it’s actually decompressing anything or if it’s just a really good massage, but the feeling is nowhere near the same ballpark. If you hated the TENS tingle, you probably won’t hate this.

The pause hasn’t been my main issue with it. What bugs me more is that it feels like the person on the other end starts talking over me because they think I’ve finished. I’ve started just holding up a finger while I wait, which is stupid but it works.

If you dropped them in wet sand near the water, I wouldn’t bother. The tide and the way the sand shifts overnight will move them around way more than you think. Even if you go back, you’d be digging in the wrong spot. Just get the new keys.

Guess I’ll find out the hard way then. Thanks for the input.
