LauTopMemberThinking about picking up a Qinux BittOne for some casual retro gaming on the couch, but I can’t find anything about whether it ships with a screen protector. I’m not clumsy or anything, but I’d rather not have it scratched up in my bag. Anyone know if it includes one or if I should grab a separate one?

MemberI’d just grab one anyway. Even if it does come with a factory film, those are usually more for shipping than actual protection. A cheap glass one will save you the headache later.

MemberHonestly I’d say just grab a cheap one regardless. These handhelds usually come with that thin plastic film that’s more for keeping the screen clean in the box than surviving daily use. I learned that the hard way with a different console years ago, so now I just assume I need to buy my own.

MemberI had the same question when I got mine. No screen protector in the box, just the basic plastic film that’s clearly meant to be peeled off. I’ve had mine in a backpack for a couple weeks now and no scratches so far, but the screen is glossy enough that I can see it picking up marks eventually. Probably worth grabbing one if you’re already ordering.

MemberI always assume these things don’t come with a real protector. The film that ships on the screen is usually just for dust and scratches during transport, so I peeled mine off right away. I grabbed a basic one for mine and it fit fine, so I’d say just pick one up so you don’t have to worry about it bouncing around in your bag.

d4nielParticipantThe screen protector thing is always a toss up with these cheap handhelds. I wouldn’t count on it having anything useful in the box. Mine came with that flimsy peel-off film and that was it. Just factor in the cost of a glass one and move on.

Dave RunnerMemberI picked one up a few weeks back and I’m pretty sure the only thing on the screen is that thin plastic shipping film. I peeled it off right away and just left the screen bare. For what it costs, I wasn’t expecting a real protector in the box.
I’ve been tossing it in my backpack on the way to work and so far the screen’s holding up fine. The thing is, the screen sits a little recessed from the bezel, so it’s not like it’s directly rubbing against stuff all the time. That said, if you’re planning on carrying it loose with keys or change, I’d probably grab a cheap protector just for peace of mind. They’re like a few bucks anyway, so it’s not a big investment either way.
I haven’t bothered with one yet, but I also don’t think I’ve been treating it roughly enough to worry.

MemberMine didn’t have anything beyond that peel-off plastic film and I didn’t bother replacing it. Screen’s been fine for a few months now, but it just sits on the coffee table. If yours is going in a bag with other stuff, I’d just buy one.

MemberI’d just order a cheap glass one with it and not stress about it.

Laura ReadsMemberMine didn’t come with one, so I just threw a cheap glass protector on it right away.

MemberDepends what you mean by screen protector. Mine had the usual thin plastic film on it when I opened the box, but that’s not really meant to stay on. I just left it on anyway since it’s been fine so far. It’s not the nicest feeling but it’s done the job for me.

MemberI’d grab one anyway, since most of these ship with just the basic plastic film thats not meant to last.

LauTopMemberThat answers it, thanks. I’ll just grab a glass one with my order.
