Okay so I’m looking at the Nunawave Oral Care Pro and I keep going back and forth on it. The red light thing sounds interesting for my gums, but I’m a bit worried about how it fits. Does it feel super bulky or is it actually comfortable to wear for a while? I have a small mouth and I’m scared it’ll be too much.

I had the same worry before I got mine, but honestly the fit surprised me. I don’t have a particularly small mouth, but I do have a narrow palate and most mouthguards feel like they’re pushing my teeth apart. This one is flexible enough that it kind of molds to your bite after a few uses. The first time I put it in it felt a bit like wearing a thick retainer, but by the third or fourth session I sort of forgot it was there. I can wear it for the full 10 minutes without jaw fatigue.

The only thing I would note is that it does add a bit of bulk in the front, so if you have a strong gag reflex that might take some getting used to. But it’s not like those bulky sports mouthguards at all. I would say try it and give yourself a couple of days to adjust before deciding.

It’s not bulky, but it’s not going to disappear either. If you have a small mouth, you will know it’s there. I found it a bit awkward for the first couple of days but you get used to it. I wouldn’t call it comfortable, just tolerable.

I’d skip it if you already think it’ll be too much. I’ve got a normal sized mouth and it’s noticeable when it’s in. Not painful, but you’re aware of it the whole time. If you’ve got a smaller mouth, that’s only going to be more obvious.

I wear mine a few times a week and I wouldn’t call it bulky, but it’s definitely present. My mouth isn’t huge and it took a couple of sessions to get used to the feel. It’s not uncomfortable enough to stop using, but I wouldn’t fall asleep with it in.

I think it depends a lot on what you’re used to. I wore mine maybe five or six times and it was fine for the first few minutes, but after a while I could feel it pressing against my cheeks. Not painful, just noticeable. If you already have a small mouth, I’d probably try to find one you can test or borrow before dropping the money on it.

I’d say if you’re already worried about it, that’s probably your answer. These things are not invisible. Even with the flexible design, it’s a mouthguard with electronics in it, so you’re going to feel it sitting there the whole time. It’s not painful, just not something you forget about.

I don’t have a huge mouth either and the first time I put it in I could definitely feel it, but it wasn’t like jaw-stretching bulky or anything. That said, I wouldn’t want to talk with it in or anything. It’s one of those things where you know it’s there the whole time, but it doesn’t hurt or make my mouth feel crammed. If you’re really worried, maybe see if there’s a return policy you’re comfortable with, because I think it’s one of those things you have to try to know for sure.

I was worried about the same thing when I ordered it. It’s not like those bulky night guards my dentist made me, but you do know it’s there. For me the flexible part makes it bearable, but I can see how someone with a smaller mouth might find it annoying after ten minutes.

If comfort is your main hangup, I’d skip it. A small mouth and a device like this usually don’t mix well, no matter what the ads say. You’ll spend the whole time aware of it sitting in there. That alone would kill the routine for me.

It’s a fair thing to worry about. I tried one a while back and the first thing I noticed is that it’s not exactly invisible. You feel it sitting in there, especially if you have a smaller mouth. But what got me was how much the shape matters more than the size. The flexible part bends around your teeth, so it doesn’t shove your jaws apart like some night guards do. I’ve had dentist molds that were way worse.

The tradeoff for me was the weight distribution. It’s fine when you’re just sitting still or lying down, but if you try to talk or move around much, you’re very aware it’s there. I wouldn’t call it comfortable for long stretches, more like tolerable. If you’re planning to wear it while doing anything other than relaxing, that’s probably where you’ll run into trouble.

I think it really comes down to how your mouth is shaped honestly. I got one a few weeks back and I was worried about the same thing since I’ve never been able to wear those big night guards comfortably. The Nunawave is not as slim as a retainer but it’s not like you’re shoving a brick in there either. The edges are soft enough that it didn’t dig into my cheeks or anything, which was my main fear.

For me it feels noticeable but not overpowering. I can still talk a little bit with it in, which says a lot. I don’t know how it would be for someone with a really tiny mouth though. I think if you can handle wearing a mouthguard for sports or those teeth whitening trays, you’ll probably be okay with this one.

I tried it and honestly it felt like wearing one of those thicker mouth guards for sports, not terrible but definitely not something I forgot about. I don’t have a huge mouth either and it was manageable for the few minutes I used it, but I wouldn’t want to keep it in much longer than that.

I’d have to disagree with the folks saying it’s a dealbreaker for small mouths. I’ve got a pretty narrow jaw and I was expecting the worst, but the flexibility of it surprised me. It’s not like you forget you’re wearing it, but it didn’t feel like a hunk of plastic jammed in there either. I’ve worn it for the full session a few times now without needing to take it out early.

I think after reading all this I’m just gonna try it and see for myself. The mixed opinions are making my head spin honestly. If it’s uncomfortable I’ll return it, not the end of the world.
