Does PestVault have a scent at all before you open it?

Looking at getting some PestVault pouches for the garage, but I’m wondering if they actually smell like anything when you first get them. I know the whole point is the scent, but do you need to open the pouch or something to activate it? Just trying to figure out if what I get will actually be noticeable or if it’s one of those things that only works if you’re right on top of it.

They definitely have a scent before you open them. I could smell mine through the packaging when they arrived, though it’s not overpowering or anything. Once you tear the pouch open it gets noticeably stronger, so you don’t really need to worry about activation. I’d say the smell is noticeable within a few feet, not just right on top of it.

I’ve noticed the scent before opening them, but it’s pretty subtle until you tear the pouch. When I got my first order, I could smell a faint peppermint-ish smell if I held the pouch close to my face, but it wasn’t like the whole package was perfuming the room or anything. Once I opened one and placed it near the garage door, I could smell it more when walking by for the first few days. After that, it faded into the background, which I guess is normal for these things.

I think the scent is there from the start, but you don’t really get the full effect until they’re out of the packaging and sitting in the open air. If you’re expecting something strong right out of the box, you might be a little underwhelmed at first.

I could smell mine the second I pulled them out of the shipping box, before even opening the foil. It’s a decent strength, not a punch in the nose, but you won’t be wondering if they’re working. They get way stronger once you tear the pouch open, so if you want the full effect, that’s when it kicks in.

They have a smell right out of the package, not strong, but you can tell it’s there.

Mine had a noticeable scent before I ever opened them, but it was definitely stronger once I tore the pouch. The weird thing is, the scent changed a bit after a week or so. It started off fairly strong and then settled into something more mellow, so if you’re expecting that initial punch the whole time, you might think they stopped working. They didn’t, I just had to get closer to the pouch to smell it.

Garage is probably a good spot for them since it’s not a huge open living area. I’d just make sure you’re putting them where rodents actually travel, not just in the middle of the floor where the scent has to travel further. I think people expect these things to fill a whole room and that’s not really how it works. The scent is there, it’s just not going to hit you from across the space.

They smell like strong mint even before you tear the packet open.

I actually think the scent thing is a little overblown in the marketing. Mine arrived and yeah, there was a faint smell through the pouch, but it was really mild. Like, I could smell it if I put my nose right up to the foil, but it wasn’t filling up the room or anything. I honestly thought it was going to be stronger based on what everyone else is saying. It wasn’t until I tore it open and actually placed it that I really noticed the peppermint coming through. So if you’re expecting to smell it from across the garage before you even open the package, I’d temper those expectations. It’s there, it’s just not super obvious until you rip it.

You can smell it before you open it, faint, but it is definitely there.

I think people are overthinking the scent thing a little. You can smell it through the pouch, for sure. It’s not going to fill your whole garage before you even open them, but you won’t have to stick your nose right up to it to know it’s there either.

I had the same question before buying mine. The pouches do have a scent while sealed, but it’s pretty mild. Once you tear them open it’s much more obvious. I put one in a storage closet and could smell it within a few minutes of opening the packet, so I don’t think you need to worry about it being too subtle.

Mine barely smelled at all until I ripped the pouch open, and even then it wasn’t exactly strong. People keep saying you can smell it through the packaging but I couldn’t get much from mine. I had to basically put my nose near it to notice anything.

I think the scent question is kinda funny because mine smelled pretty strongly right out of the package. Like I didn’t even have to open it to know it was minty. Maybe I just got a fresh batch or something, but it was definitely noticeable.

I just toss them wherever and don’t really pay attention to the scent until I’m close to the pouch. They’re not gonna make the whole garage smell like anything, but you’ll know when you’re near one. That’s about all I need from them.

Guess that settles it then. Sounds like the smell is there but not exactly overpowering until you open the pouch. Good enough for me, I’ll just tear one open when I get them and see how it goes.
