I’ve been looking at the CoolJet for my desk but I keep seeing mixed stuff about how much the ice option actually helps. Some people say it’s barely noticeable and others say it’s a game changer. Is it worth bothering with ice or does just water do the same thing? Trying to figure out if I should grab one.

From what I’ve seen, the ice makes a small difference at first but it melts pretty quick and then you’re basically just running it with water anyway. I think it’s more of a placebo thing unless you’re swapping ice out constantly.

I chuck a couple ice cubes in mine when I remember but honestly I don’t stress about it. The water alone already does enough for me sitting right next to it on my desk.

I grabbed one a few weeks ago and I just use tap water. It cools me down fine while I’m working. I tried ice once and honestly couldn’t tell if it was doing much extra, so I haven’t bothered since. Probably depends how close you sit to it.

Ice helps for maybe 20 minutes. After that it’s just water. Not really worth the hassle in my opinion.

I actually notice a decent difference with ice. It’s not gonna turn it into an AC unit or anything but that initial blast of cold air is nice when you first turn it on. I just toss a couple cubes in when I fill it up and it works for me.

I just use tap water in mine and it’s fine for a desk. The ice thing seems like more effort than it’s worth for a few minutes of slightly cooler air. If you’re sitting right next to it, the water alone does the job.

I mean, ice is just frozen water, so it’s not like it’s some different technology. It’ll cool the air more for a bit until it melts, that’s just physics. But if you’re expecting it to feel like a window AC unit, you’ll be disappointed either way.

I’ve tried it both ways and honestly the ice makes maybe a 5 minute difference tops. Not worth the extra effort in my book.

I gave it a shot with ice a few times and honestly the difference is there but it’s pretty short lived. I think the water alone does a good enough job for sitting at a desk, so I just use it without ice now and don’t feel like I’m missing much.

I mean, ice is ice. It’ll give you a colder blast for a few minutes but once it melts you’re back to normal. Seems like a lot of messing around for not much payoff.

I think it depends on how hot your room actually gets. For me, ice gives a nice little burst of cold air while I’m settling in, but after that it’s basically just running like normal. Not a huge deal either way.

I mostly use mine without ice and it does the job for keeping the air moving around my desk. The ice gives a little extra chill if you’re sitting right in front of it, but I don’t miss it when I can’t be bothered.

Ice is ice. It’ll give you a colder blast for a few minutes but once it melts you’re back to normal. Seems like a lot of extra effort for not much payoff.

Pretty much what I figured, seems like ice is more of a short term kick than anything long lasting. Still sounds like it does the job for what it is though, so I’ll probably just grab one and not overthink the ice part.
