MemberLeft water in my AiraBreeze overnight and this morning there was a slight musty smell when I turned it on. Anyone else notice this? I’m guessing it’s just from the water sitting, but wondering if I should be emptying it every time.

PixelKevinMemberI usually just dump the water out if I know I won’t be using it for a few hours. The musty smell is pretty normal with evaporative coolers since the water is just sitting there. Not a huge deal, but I wouldn’t leave it overnight full again.

Tom in NYCMemberIt’s probably just the water sitting. Most of these coolers get a bit funky if you leave water in them, especially in warmer weather. I wouldn’t overthink it, but emptying it when you’re done isn’t a bad idea.

Matt__MemberI mean, musty smell after water sits overnight is kind of expected with any evaporative cooler, not sure why it would be a big surprise. I just dump mine if I know I won’t be using it for a while and it’s fine.

MemberPretty normal for these things. I usually just dump the tank if I’m not using it for a while.

Tom BriggsMemberPretty normal. I just leave mine and it goes away after a few minutes of running. Not worth worrying about.

LiamWParticipantProbably just the water sitting, happens with most evaporative coolers. I wouldn’t empty it every time unless you’re leaving it for days.

MemberMine does the same thing if I leave water in it overnight. I just run it for a minute and the smell fades. Not a big deal.

Kevin CMemberI’ve been thinking about getting one of these, so this is good to know. Does the smell come back after you run it for a bit or does it linger?

MemberI don’t really get the concern, honestly. It’s a water tank, not a sealed bottle. Some smell is just what happens.

Carla82MemberNever had that issue with mine, but I only use it in hotel rooms and dump the water before I check out anyway. Stagnant water is gonna smell eventually, that’s just how it works.

KhanMemberI usually just dump the water out if I know I’m not using it again that night. Takes two seconds and then no smell at all in the morning.

MemberHonestly I just dump mine out if I know Iām done using it for the night. Takes two seconds and keeps it fresh in the morning š¤·āāļø

MemberPretty much what I figured. I’ve just been dumping the water out at night now and it’s fine in the morning. Takes like ten seconds so no big deal.
