Just wondering if it matters whether I plug StopWatt directly into the wall outlet or if it can go into a power strip. I have one outlet near my breaker box that’s behind a shelf so a strip would be easier, but I don’t know if that changes anything. I’ve had it for about a month and it seems fine, just don’t want to mess it up. Anybody know if it’s safe to use a strip or should I keep it direct?

Mine’s been on a strip since I got it last year and it still lights up fine. I get the idea of a clean direct outlet, but I never noticed a difference either way. If the strip makes the spot easier to reach, I’d just leave it there.

Mine sat in a strip for a few months before I moved it to the wall, and nothing changed either way. The strip was just more convenient for where my outlet is. I never noticed a difference in how it ran.

A power strip is not going to mess it up. I ran mine off a strip for the first couple months because the outlet behind my couch was the only free one, and it worked the same as it does now plugged into the wall. The lights came on, no weird buzzing, nothing.

What I would pay attention to is the strip itself, not the StopWatt. Cheap strips can get warm when you pile stuff on them, and if that one already has a bunch of other things plugged in, adding another device is just more load on it. I plugged mine into a decent strip with nothing else on it and it was fine.

If the strip is old or feels loose when you plug something in, just get a new one. Otherwise I do not think the StopWatt cares where it gets its power from. Mine has been running about five months total and the only difference I noticed was the strip being easier to reach.

Power strips are fine as long as you’re not daisy chaining them or plugging a bunch of high draw stuff into the same one. Mine’s been in a strip for months near my panel too, green light still on. I’d just leave it where it’s convenient.

I had mine on a cheap strip for a while and honestly nothing seemed different, but I moved it to the wall just because the strip kept getting bumped. Not sure it actually matters either way.

I’ve had mine plugged into a strip near my laundry area for about three months now. Same deal as you, the outlet is tucked behind the washer and a shelf so direct isn’t really practical. It’s a decent strip, not the cheapest one, and nothing has acted up. The green light still comes on, no flickering, no heat that I’ve noticed when I happen to touch it.

What I’d keep in mind is that a strip is only as good as the strip itself. If it’s an old cheap one that already has a bunch of stuff running off it, that’s a different situation than a basic strip with just the StopWatt and maybe a lamp. I don’t think the device cares whether the power comes through a strip or straight from the wall, as long as the connection is solid. If yours has been fine for a month, that’s already a decent sign.

Mine’s been in a strip for 8 months, no issues.

Mine’s been on a strip since spring and the little green light still comes on, so it’s obviously getting power fine. The only thing I’d check is whether the strip has a switch, since bumping that off would kill it without you noticing.

Wall outlet is the safer bet.

I ran mine through a cheap strip for a few months and it worked, but the strip itself got warm so I switched it back to the wall. If the strip is decent quality it probably doesn’t matter much.

I’d plug it straight into the wall if you can manage it, just because a strip adds one more connection point in the chain. That said, mine sat in a strip for a couple months when I first got it and it never acted up. If the shelf setup is way easier, I don’t think it’s going to hurt anything.

I tried mine on a strip and it kept cutting out every couple days, moved it to the wall and that stopped. Could’ve been the strip itself though, it was an old one.

I’d rather just keep it in the wall if there’s any way to swing it. Not because I’ve had a problem with strips, I just don’t like adding extra stuff between the outlet and the device. Mine’s been direct since I got it and I haven’t messed with it.

I’d just leave it in the strip if that’s easier. Mine’s been on a cheap one for a few months now and nothing weird has happened, light still comes on. If the strip is old and loose though, that’s when I’d bother moving it.

I keep mine on a strip by the tv and it’s been that way since I got it, no issues. The strip is a decent one though, not the dollar store kind. I figure if the strip can handle the tv and console it can handle this little thing.

Mine actually did the opposite. Ran it straight in the wall for a few weeks and it kept flickering, threw it on the strip by my desk and the light’s been steady since. So I just left it there.
