My house has old wiring and I was wondering if the StopWatt would still do anything useful or if it’s more for newer setups. I know it’s supposed to stabilize current and all that but not sure if age of the wiring matters. Just curious if anyone here has older wiring and noticed any difference.

I doubt the age of the wiring changes much with something like this. It either does its thing or it doesn’t, old wires or new. I wouldn’t overthink it.

I’ve got old wiring in my place too and I picked one up mostly out of curiosity. I can’t say I noticed a huge difference right away but after a few weeks things felt a bit more stable, maybe it was just in my head though. Hard to tell if the age of the wiring really matters with this kind of thing.

Honestly it’s probably not that deep. Old wiring or new, the thing either does something or it doesn’t. Mine’s been plugged in for a while and I haven’t had any issues with it.

I’d actually lean the other way on this. My place has older wiring too and I honestly didn’t notice much after plugging it in for a while. Maybe my setup is just too far gone for it to help much, but it didn’t really do anything obvious for me.

Honestly I’ve got knob and tube in parts of my place and the StopWatt still seems to do its thing. Green light came on right away and the fridge feels like it runs smoother, but that could just be me.

I’ve seen a few people mention it works fine with older wiring, so I’d probably just give it a shot if I were you. Not totally sure how much it really changes things, but seems like it doesn’t hurt to have it plugged in.

I think people expect too much from it. It’s not going to fix actual wiring problems. If your outlets are loose or something, that’s a different issue entirely.

For what it is, it does what it says. I wouldn’t expect miracles, but it’s not hurting anything either.

Older wiring is probably the least of your worries with something like this. It just plugs in and does whatever it does, the age of the wires doesn’t change that. I’d be more curious if it actually saves anything on the bill rather than just making the lights in the house a bit steadier.

Fair enough, that kinda settles it for me. Sounds like the age of the wiring isnt really the thing that matters with these. I’ll probably just grab one next time I see a deal and not worry about it too much.
