Bought a Qinux FelinStop for the back garden to stop neighborhood cats digging in pots. Setup was easy and it charges fine in sunny spots, but not sure about the actual range. The ultrasonic seems to keep some cats away, birds still come by, and the LED at night is kinda bright. Anyone used one and found a good placement or frequency setting that actually works reliably?

for me it actually worked pretty well, but more with moles than cats tbh. within its range I don’t see a single one anymore, so placement matters a lot. no idea about birds… and the LED at night is actually nice imo, seems to keep hedgehogs and even wild boars from getting too close and digging around

Yeah the LED is pretty bright at night, maybe angle it away from seating/paths so it’s less annoying, not totally sure if that reduces its effectiveness though.

Mine was rubbish, only scared off the timid cats and the LED is annoyingly bright at night.

I bought one and I think it kept most cats away from my pots, not just the shy ones. The LED wasn’t a big deal for me, though maybe it varies by spot, I’m not totally sure about long term.

I think the advertised range is a bit optimistic, mine only covered a small patch. Maybe placement makes a difference, not totally sure.

I’ve got one as well and I think mounting it a bit higher helped the coverage, seemed to reach further than when it was sitting on the soil. Not totally scientific, but moving it up a bit made a noticeable difference for me.

Quick tip: point the speaker toward likely cat pathways instead of straight at the pots so the sound covers the route they use. Try switching the frequency every few days since animals can get used to a single tone.

From what I’ve seen on other threads it’s pretty hit-and-miss. Range claims look a bit optimistic and the night LED gets mentioned a lot. Fine to try if you don’t expect miracles.

I’ve had one running for a few weeks now. It’s alright for keeping the odd cat off the patio but I wouldn’t count on it for anything bigger. The LED is definitely brighter than I expected, not a dealbreaker but noticeable.
